I had to check out after one night of a four-night booking due to a theft.
I arrived on Saturday and (regrettably) left some cash in my suitcase. I went out the following morning and returned in the early afternoon to find my suitcase unzipped and the cash missing. No one else had been staying in the room after I left, and my luggage was the only one present.
Staff later told me that someone had briefly checked into the room (without luggage) and left while I was out. I can’t determine what actually happened, but the situation left me feeling unsafe.
To their credit, the staff did try to help by calling a taxi to a police station and offering me a private room. However, after the incident, I chose to move elsewhere for my own peace of mind.
I can’t pass judgment, but I strongly recommend being very careful with your belongings if you choose to stay here. Athens is a beautiful city, but it’s important to stay vigilant both while out and with what you leave in your room.
