The 10 Best Hostels in Prague (Updated 2025)

"Near the main train station in the bohemian Žižkov district, Hostel ELF fits the area with unique murals and a very social vibe, organizing free BBQs three times a week, movie nights, free walking tours, and offering a large outdoor shaded patio; there’s also a cheap buffet breakfast (about 60 CZK), free coffee/tea, and a fully equipped kitchen." - Matthew Kepnes

The best hostel I ever stayed in. Chilled vibe, cosy atmosphere. Drunken nights. I kept extending my stay. I met some really good people there. The staff are amazing. All of them. Special thanks to Noor for squeezing me in last minute. Thanks everyone!

Hostel Elf was a fantastic place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the atmosphere was welcoming without being overwhelming. The location was convenient for getting around, and the common areas made it easy to relax or meet other travelers. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to others.

Great hostel. Cool vibe, incredibly nice staff. Made accommodations for me as I tried to exchange my Czech currency before leaving the country. We had a private room and they gave us more TP for free and some napkins to use as kleenex (normally there is not kleenex in the private rooms). They also let me store an ice pack in a staff freezer upstairs. I didn’t get to try any of the free dinner but I heard it was filling and good chance to meet other guests. It was VERY convenient for me to be so close to the bus station. Zizkov is also a cheaper area than old town/new town so I think we saved money on small items and a few restaurant meals, although it does mean longer travel to get into old town/new town. But IMO Zizkov is better—more quiet, less crowded with tourists. At least in the private room with the red and blue color scheme, we couldn’t hear the noise of other guests very much. Good shower with plenty of hot water, spacious private bathroom.

What an amazing hostel. Our room was clean, and had charging + lights, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was always friendly (especially Alex, he made our trip to Prague ten times better), the outdoor patio area was super nice, especially during happy hour, and all the other guests were super friendly and easy to talk to. Zero complaints whatsoever, could not recommend this place any more

We were three tourists in our late 20s from the UK booking this hostel and the TL;DR is that this is a great hostel, the staff are great, the showers are decent and the toilets are cleaned very regularly. We came on Friday having booked a triple room, which we thought meant three single beds, but it was a double and a single so this is something to bear in mind if you're coming as three. Soon after arrival we got great recommendations from the staff for some Czech food and bars not too far. There was an activity every day, and even free dinners and BBQs on select days. The staff were amazing at all points, but a special mention to Alex, the night shift receptionist, who was constantly a source of energy and positivity throughout. This guy was singlehandedly the highlight of our trip as he was very pleasant to be around and very well informed about the local area. Give this man a raise! The people who stayed at the same time as us were very chill and friendly, and there was always someone or a group outside who were keen for a chat and chill. If you're looking for something social, I can't recommend this place enough. Overall, this place was a great base for a weekend in Prague if you like to meet people on your travel. If you're looking for luxury accommodation, then maybe this is not for you. However, if you're looking for unmatched vibes, friendly personnel and a lovely hostel dog (shout out to Lupin!) then what are you waiting for? This is the place! A brief side note, the hostel is located close to the Vitkov Hill, which has a fantastic and free viewpoint from the top of Prague. A nice bonus! Thanks to everyone who made this stay the stay that it was, hope to be back!

The booking experience was tricky. They only let you in if you have booking. Apparently you can book through their website and it will be 20 percent cheaper. The rooms were ok and the shower was a little wonky. On the flip side, this hostel is probably one of the most social and friendliest places I've been to. Everyone is so friendly and social. One of the staffs who helped me with the laundry was the best. Everyone has the chill vibe. You can go up and talk to anyone and they would appreciate your company. It's positive vibes all the way. The kitchen was really extensive and private if you'd like to sit and eat while chilling. The location is pretty close to the Florence bus center. There's also a good bar downstairs next to hostel.

I felt very welcomed and I miss the staff very much. Everyone here is friendly, patient and open-minded, be it the reception, the maintenance crew or the guests. The whole place itself is very well decorated. Everything good to visit was within walking distance of the Hostel, I made many friends here, including my roommates. Perfect for solo travellers. Please don't think of booking in another place

Google
You can't go wrong with this hostel. While it looks on the hippy side at first, it's actually very clean, with a great kitchen well equipped and nice space to work on computer. Some regular freebies and a great team (including Lupin the dog) makes it a great homely place.

Yelp
The nicest staff ever!!!! I think his name was Ivan, let us check in at 6 am and gave us a place to sleep early. Everyone was very attentive and kind. Will definitely be back! Thank you!!!!

Yelp
One of the coolest hostels I've ever stayed in. A few friends and I were traveling around Eastern Europe and needed a place to stay in Prague. For $25 USD each (between the 4 of us), we got a 4 bedroom private room. Though the place gave off a grungy, hippy vibe, the place all around was very clean. Service was awesome and very accommodating. There were a ton of other travelers staying here at the time we checked in, which was a little overwhelming at first, but definitely got use to a bunch of new faces always around. The part we loved most about staying at Hostel Elf was how open and chill everyone was who stayed here. The first night, we met a ton of people by just keeping our door open. There was a bachelor party in the room next to us from Hamburg, Germany, so with our door open, they came over to say hi, bringing their liquor over to share. They have hostel events scheduled every day (like a bbq or game night), which is a great way to meet other travelers. They're totally optional, but I highly recommend making one of them. We met so many cool people, which let us following a group from the UK to a boat cruise on the river. It was amazing. Great service, cheap nightly prices, very clean, friendly open environment, and even a open bar with happy hour. It's in a pretty great location, which was not far from the central station. Talk about a travelers paradise.

Yelp
Really nice hostel with everything you need and really clean. Only two downsides are that it's not located directly in the city centre, a bit to walk and that the cleaning lady starts at 8am, which woke me up several times, but the rest was just perfect and affordable

Yelp
Lady at the receptionist was very accommodating and rooms/beds were clean. Quiet at night and free breakfast. Awesome place but a little far walk from metro or train. Otherwise would definitely come back

Yelp
Great hostel. Good service, cheap, good bear, happy hour and always crowded even in low season. But as most hostels don't expect to have a good internet connection.

Yelp
Amazing hostel, amazing experience here! It's a super cool hostel, incredibly friendly and helpful, and there's cool stuff to do like fusbal, a barbecue, movie nights, free buffet breakfast, free towels and all those little amenities, and it gives off a sort of hippie/loose vibe, but it's freaking dope! Pretty good location, it's near the train tracks, near a good view, and like a 25 minute walk to town, but it's totally worth it. Definitely staying here again if I come again, no doubt. Overall cheap as well. Perfect hostel.
