One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at The beds were comfortable and well-designed w curtains, a reading light, a small fan, and a convenient shelf at the head. The lockers under the bed were big enough to hold a check-in bag. The AC in the room was powerful enough for summer days. The bathrooms were plenty and very clean. Towels were free upon request, which was very nice. The common areas were cozy and fun and made it easy to connect with other guests. The location was perfect - very easy to use a base from which to explore the city. And finally the staff was very helpful and flexible. They could probably use a helping hand since they were running around so much, but they seemed to genuinely care about guests’ experiences. I would gladly stay here again

Warning - Thursday through Saturday is going to be a little bit loud. There is a club style bar with heavy bass super close. This is a perfect place to stay if you want to party in Denver. I made the mistake of getting carried away on Wednesday and taking Thursday off. This was a massive mistake since the party starts Thursday at 10pm. I wasn't made, except at myself. The bar is cool and affordable. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is second to none.

Fantastic Stay at Hostel Fish – Highly Recommended!I had an amazing experience at Hostel Fish! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is social yet relaxed, making it the perfect spot for solo travelers or groups looking to meet new people. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. I appreciated the thoughtful touches like privacy curtains, lockers, and charging ports by each bed. The common areas, including the bar, were lively and a great place to unwind after exploring Denver. Plus, the location is unbeatable—right in the heart of downtown, within walking distance to great restaurants, bars, and attractions.Another highlight was the staff-led activities and recommendations—they genuinely want you to have a great time in the city. If you're looking for a hostel with a fun, social, and comfortable stay, Hostel Fish is the place to be!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) – Would absolutely stay again!

Google
I stay in hostels often, and this is one of the better hostels in the US. The beds are good, all mod cons work (including copious hot water--always a pleasure in Denver). The staff are incredibly helpful. The bar in the hostel is laid back. The bar can be rockin' sometimes--bring some earplugs and you won't have a problem. Location is hard to beat. Great value in general.

The Bad:||I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have a rental vehicle; they do not provide parking. The parking nearby was $40 a night, which adds up fast. Also, it's pretty loud at night, and people are walking in and out constantly, making it very difficult to sleep, especially if you are a light sleeper. ||Also, if you have a lot of luggage, it could be very difficult to get inside as you have to climb a flight of stairs. Note: Only bring light luggage.||The Good:||I loved the lounge, and the bar is cheaper than some of the other nearby places.|The place was pretty clean.

Literally no complaints! This is a super fun and cool spot to stay in Denver. The staff are all friendly and fun. The bar is such a vibe, even on a Monday night. Rooms are comfy and the whole place was super clean. But yes, the floors and doors are creaky and squeaky - wear earplugs. And take note: DOORS ARE LOCKED AT 2AM. I may or may not have closed the club down and ended up sleeping in my car in the parking lot next door. Ooops!! LOL.

Google
Overall good experience - great renovated historic building and very cool interior design and use of the space. Ophelia's nightclub on ground floor is a great live music venue. We stayed in the king room on the 3rd floor on a Friday night - it's a very cool space; however, as others have mentioned, it's noisy and the room also does not get very dark. There is a bar/nightclub on the second floor of a neighboring building right outside the room windows that you can definitely hear not only the bass but loud people out on the rooftop patio until the closing hours of 2a.m. Earplugs help but the hostel could help mitigate by providing white noise machines in the private rooms. Also, the rooms overlook a paid parking lot with extremely bright lighting that light up the rooms even with the curtains drawn. Easy fix here is providing black out curtains.

Google
Very comfortable and convenient in a reasonable price. The staffs are really helpful, too. The only problem (if you go there with lots of luggages) is that the lobby is in the second floor and there is no elevator at all. Well just an extra workout to do.

Yelp
Such a great place to stay! Especially when traveling alone, hostel fish is economical, safe, and well-equipped. The beds are comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the facilities are clean. They could use a bit of maintenance (a couple of broken showers, etc.) but not a big deal. This was my second time staying here and both were great. The option to store your luggage before/during/after your stay is super helpful! The cubbies to lock your belongings up in your room are also so convenient and secure too. Overall, I highly recommend!

Yelp
The ONLY reason this place lacks stars is for the lack of parking. I loved everything about this place. The rad staff, the sick pub crawl to all the best bars. This place is in a great spot for walking distances to many places. The rooms and art work and hidden secrets (there's a lot here, ask a staff member and you might get lucky!) and the bar are all amazing. I slept so good here and felt very safe. If I ever come back to Denver, I'll definitely be staying here! Thanks yall!

Yelp
Loved this place. The people seemed cool and young. I loved the bar there. My bedroom was really cute and each bunk had a little curtain, a light, an outlet, and a fan. I had a key card to get into my room, a lock for the storage area under the bed (cost $3 to rent or $5 to buy), and there was a code for the bathroom. The building was several stories, and you have to walk up a flight of stairs to reach the check in desk and main floor (so pack light). Can't wait to come back next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Decent spot if you're looking for an affordable spot to stay. Hard to differentiate guests from employees...multiple times I had been in the bar/common area waiting for someone to appear behind the bar and it never happened...oh well. Bathrooms are way cleaner than expected, so hell yeah for that. One of the nights I had stayed one of the other guests was yelling at another guest in the same room I was sleeping in, so if you absolutely need peace and quiet maybe opt for a private room. Overall would stay again, though I will say I couldn't find any coffee shops open past 6pm...

Yelp
Not a backpacker friendly hostel!! A CDT hiker was denied entry because the address listed on his ID was within 30 miles of the hostel. However, if you know anything about thru hiking, most people end their leases and move out before hiking to save money. He tried explaining that it wasn't a current address and he didn't have a current residence since he is on trail. The employee then told him that the hostel does not allow transients and he couldn't stay there. Take your business elsewhere thru hikers.

Yelp

Yelp
This is a review only for the bar/game room part of the Hostel. I did not stay here overnight. My friends are avid stayers at this local hostel. According to them, this is one of the best/most fun hostels in the area. In fact, I actually know a couple who met here! When I visited the game room/bar area on the second floor, I could instantly tell why my friends loved this hostel. The atmosphere was lively. There were a few people who were already at the bar, playing darts, or sitting down and eating their dinner. I had met someone from Texas at the bar, and we quickly started a conversation about how we both ended up here. I could tell that people were open to conversation and meeting each other. They also had a few games scattered throughout the place: card games, dart toss, and ring toss. Hostel Fish is more well known for their bar crawls, open mic, and drinking games. If you check in via the Yelp app, you also get a buy one get one free drink deal! Regarding the decor, it was on point! One wall was decorated with luggages embedded into the structure. There was a Christmas tree as well, and a piano. The piano was more for show since many of the keys were no longer functional. Next time I visit Denver, I'm definitely considering staying at this hostel. The short time I had here actually inspired me to check out hostels when I travel (I'm usually an avid Air BnB or hotel kind of lady). And, this is coming from someone who initially had a slight disdain toward the idea of hostels. So, seeing this place actually changed my perspective! Beyond happy that my friends introduced me to this hostel and the concept of hostels! Tip: for the female bathroom, it's a light sensor. There a code to use the bathroom, but, when you enter it's pitch black. You need to walk a little further down the stalls for the light sensor to be triggered. I was initially quite perplexed since I was stumbling to find the light switch!

Yelp
I absolutely recommend this business!! I stayed in the Aspen room for 6 nights with no issues and very respectful roomies! The beds are actually better than most posh hotel beds I've stayed in!!!! Way better!! The kitchen area was clean and my food was safe in the refrigerator! The staff were helpful, personable but not nosey. The bathrooms were super clean!! I felt safe every night. The location is perfect for walking to eateries and sightseeing. There was ALWAYS rentable electric bikes readily available within a block of the front doors! The hostel supplies everything for sleep and bath so no need for your own pillow, blanket or towel! In fact, you're asked not to bring those items. It keeps these spaces clean of any kinds of tiny bugs that could be passed on. I only have good vibes for this hostel and will stay here EVERY TIME I am in Denver! I was able to be a lone wolf without being completely alone. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you universe for the gift of this safe and easy to love place to rest and reconnect.

Yelp
Good place for a bed. Hostel Fish is cheap and clean. It has a good location. Fun things to do around it. This has its own bar too. Best thing is the location in Denver. It's near Coors Field. There's lots of breweries and restaurants. Also there's lots of cannabis dispensaries. You can have fun without going far from here. Bar is located right here so you can drink and then go to bed. The prices are pretty cheap for the quality. It's about $25 for a person but it's cheaper through some online travel sites so book it there before coming. The beds are very comfortable and it's cleaner than at many other hostels that cost more. It seems to be the best value in Denver. It's cheap even for a hostel. They however provide nothing so bring toiletries and towels.

Yelp
Super awesome hostel with great vibes, staff, amenities, and EVEN BETTER location. Ideal for someone wanting to come experience Denver on a budget. 11/10 everytime

Yelp
Excellent place to spend more than a night in town. Clean and friendly with everything you need to visit Denver. Rooms are big and nicely decorated. I stayed in a 6 bed female room. I'll be back!

Yelp
I booked this place last minute for two nights. Little did I know I would be staying at a party hostel. That may be exactly what some of you are looking for and for those of you that are, it is conveniently located right next to all the nightlife. There's a bar in the hostel in the same room as the kitchen. The music and people at the bar are loud and there's even more noise happening outside. So if you are planning on staying here to rest up and wake up early, forget it. My rating goes to cleanliness and comfort. I liked the personal fans in each bunk. The bathrooms were clean. Rooms and beds could use some help. Saw some hairs in my sheets. I ended up moving to a different room because someone decided 1am was perfect for packing and another person was playing music...at 1am! It's unfortunate that I had to pay extra to move rooms, but I was desperate for some sleep.

Yelp
This is hands down one of the classiest and nicest hostle I've ever been to, and I've been to a few. Great experience for a great price.

Gabriella S.

Yelp
Dude this place is awesome. I try to go into things with no expectations so I did with this and it completely exceeded my expectations. I had the most amazing stay at hostel fish. First time in Denver for Decadence NYE. As soon as I arrive the girls in my room made me feel so welcomed and we connected right away we just ended up all going to the festival together. So happy this place brought them to me . One side note the doors really do lock at 2 am so don't get stuck outside like us unless you've got someone to open the door. whoopsie.

Maddie L.

Yelp
Loved staying here!!! Highly suggest! Olman made our time super fun! Best location, especially for Rockies games!

Yelp
Super welcoming!! Nothing beats a complimentary beer after a long day of travel! Max hooked it up and I'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Max is the best! This is definitely the go to spot for your travels! 10-15 min walk from union station and located in the heart of everything! No need for Uber or lift!

Yelp
I paid for two nights for a private room which I was charged $338,51 for. I called from the airport 45 minutes after I had made the reservation for a cheaper room but they told me no changes you have already paid. There was no heat in the room and early in the morning it was 38 degrees. The staff member, Matt, tried to fix it, but after looking at it, he admitted there was no heat and could only offer me two sheets. Matt was very nice and a good employee; otherwise, I would have given zero stars. I only stayed one night. The staff was nice but the manager that lays out the rules isn't logical and only available by email. He answer to me was no refunds, no changes and the staff could help you turn on the air. There was a baby air conditioner in the bathroom but I needed heat not air when it was 38 degrees. It was a lot of money for a room with no heat. I also had to clean up someone's straight black hair which was all over the bathroom floor. The manager is definitely behaving like a dog in heat for money. I didn't know you could rent a room without heat when the temp is 38 degrees. They could at least have a space heater on hand to give the customer.

Yelp
Hostel Fish brings the vibes of a European hostel in the US. It is a great place to connect with others and in a perfect location to explore Denver.
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
I've never stayed in a hostel because it seemed scary to me. Finally and randomly the occasion arises in Denver. After missing out on some air bnb options I just decided to go for it. The location is great. I mean you're above Ophelia's near biker Jim's, snooze, (and coors field) and right next to a cannibus "station". This hostel is not scary. It's also not busy at this particular time of year. I tried a segregated room just so I could strip and change comfortably. It was a surprisingly comfy bed I was assigned to and really keeps you warm and toasty. Every bunk has two outlets. My room was draped in a bunch of maps. The quiet time is 10pm on but for some reason the bar amped up at 11:30 and woke me up the first night. Earplugs really rectified that situation (and they're free). The restroom was pretty clean. The showers are basically little plastic tubes and take forever to warm up but when they are they can burn. There's a bunch of toiletries for not too much if you forgot something. All they're missing is headphones.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok. So the district attorney had the cops call hostel fish and illegally told them to not allow me to stay there after I had paid almost 200 for my room. Then the manager chello refused to refund me my money and locked me out. I had no car and 5 peices of luggage..I called the Denver police. They refused to show up and when I spoke w an officer he told me their theft and leaving me to die on the street with no car and no money was a civil matter and that it was my problem. My friend had to emergency wire me funds to get me in emergency shelter. NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY
google avatar

Yelp
HOSTEL FISH IS AWESOME! PROS - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Cleanliness! Beds are COMFY AF! no joke. Just stayed over the weekend for 2 nights. Traveled to Denver solo to get away for the weekend and i'm so glad I chose to stay here. Felt completely safe as a female traveler. Upgraded to the 4 person room with the privacy curtains. So worth it. The beds are honestly so comfy. Probably comfier than my bed at home. Rooms are clean. Storage lockers in the room are big, can easily store a suitcase, multiple backpacks, etc. Bathrooms were kept super clean (this can be an issue at some hostels). I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This was the best stay I could have ever hoped for. I traveled from Arizona to Colorado for my birthday on 1/1. Considering everything closed early, I didn't have many high expectations. This Hostel provided me with the best birthday I've ever had, and I traveled alone! I was able to meet some wonderful people from different walks of life and had the opportunity to educate myself on different cultures. While still following their guidelines/procedures I was able to have an amazing time. The hostel is also in fantastic area where you can easily walk to most places around you. I highly suggest staying here if you want an affordable place, a great area, and to meet some great people. The staff did amazing. I appreciate them! I will be back.

Yelp
I had so much fun here and truly enjoyed every minute of it. Friendly, classy people. Clean place. There was a great Space Cowboy party during my stay. Keep in mind if you're a light sleeper this place can get a little loud late at night Bc there is a bar. The reception waited up for me until 2am to check in which she didn't have to do after my delayed flight . I truly appreciate the stellar service here

Cade H.

Yelp
I was pretty skeptical about staying at a hostel in the US, but was convinced to give it a a shot based on the the reviews... but boy did I learn. this place is an absolute hell hole in an amazing city and state. I'll sum up my complaints below but the short version is : DO NOT STAY HERE I'll name a few positives first. They include free towels and sell the basic necessities any weary traveler would need. The facilities are generally very clean and kept up well. But besides the basic necessities you would expect in any reasonable accommodation, this place is an absolute shit show and the people that work here are incredibly unfriendly and rude to guests. 1). It's hard to tell who even works at this place and who doesn't. It's a mix of lazy workers who don't give a shit about their guests and shady folk and conmen who swarm the bar here like locusts, looking to pray upon tourists, especially international travelers. 2). They lock this place up like Alcatraz after 2 am. For reference, bars in Denver close at latest 2 am so you won't be able to make last call at any bar you visit or even see the end of any late night music sets you may be seeing. In fact, if you want to get a late night meal they will not let you out of this place. While confronting one of the workers about this, he told me to order Uber Eats or said if I left I wouldn't be able to get back in to sleep or access my belongings for the night. Not friendly folk and the fact that they charge what they do for people to stay here should be illegal. 3). The social scene at this place absolutely sucks. Besides a few friendly locals who used to frequent the bar here in what they consider the good ole days, there is nothing fun about this hostel. In fact you'd be lucky to find someone manning the bar at any point of the day. I genuinely feel bad for the people that work here. They are likely way underpaid and therefore only work here to do little to no work and get free lodging. Don't stay here like under any circumstance, even for a night... get a damn hotel room if you can.

Yelp
I've only stayed at hostels in the states, but this one was one of my best experiences! With the Thursday night pub crawl, in-house bar, being literally attached to Ophelia's, there's almost NO way you can stay here and not meet other travelers. The showers were really legit & clean, which was great considering I did not plan on ending up in Denver & had no shower shoes. The staff was so accommodating and helpful - from keeping my important things safe to giving travel tips for hiking spots. Amazing experience, and I've gained some (hopefully!!!) life long friends from staying here. Will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Really awesome and affordable hostel, 3 blocks away from coors field. I highly recommend it. It's clean and comfortable. If you are looking to meet strangers and have some fun. This place is for you.

David N.

Yelp
love this place. stayed on a Thursday. Centrally located, clean, nice people, comfortable room.

Michelle S.

Yelp
The bar here is such a chill vibe, did work for a few hours then came back later to get drunk - awesome! Also bathrooms were super clean! Great hostel.

Brandy C.

Yelp
Great and clean rooms. Check in was quick and I'll definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Denver. The cost can't be beat for the area.

Yelp
Hostel Fish is so chill! I had a fun time staying here for 4 days, and I made some friends during my downtime in the lounge/relaxation room (3rd floor), the bar/kitchen (2nd floor), and of course, the dorm room (Paris). The hostel was close to many bars, breweries, and other awesome places, including 16th St. Don't even get me started with the view from the Paris room. If you're in the room at sunset on a clear day, you get to see a breathtaking view of the mountains and Coors Field. Also, yes, the hostel does get loud at night, but I didn't mind too much. I can see how people would see that as a deal-breaker, so be mindful of that. If you happen to be a heavy sleeper, you'll do just fine. The bed was really comfortable, and I really appreciated how each bed had a mini fan to cool off from the summer heat. I got pretty nervous about booking a bed since I wasn't sure if there would be air conditioning, so I was pleasantly surprised by this. What I wasn't a fan of was how dirty the room was when I arrived. The trash can was full, clothes and shoes on the floor (my roommates and I didn't realize no one was staying in the room upon our arrival until later--we all checked in the same day), and there were half-full water bottles and medicine bottles. I suppose they also thought someone was still staying in the room. Lastly, just a heads up, the curfew is at 2 AM so be sure to get back by then! And be aware that you do need to climb up a flight of stairs to get to the lobby. Best to be prepared if you have a lot of heavy luggage with you.

Emily Y.

Yelp
Great location, super cute vibes. Staff, especially Olman is incredibly friendly and helpful !

Briana M.

Yelp
My first time in Denver & Hostel Fish was my first stop. It's clean, people are super friendly & very close proximity to many restaurants, bars & dispensary. I'm happy I chose Hostel Fish. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
If Gin were still working here, this place would be 5-star material. Treated me with exemplary hospitality, saved my tush from a potentially dangerous situation with a drunken male guest, gave me extra linens (I am ALWAYS, ALWAYS cold even in 30 C temp), super sweet. A**a is rude. Br*d is rude. New curfew is at 01:00 or something, and it gets LOUD 20:00-00:00. You can clearly hear the revelry through the floors even if you've booked on the topmost floor. Also, read that disclaimer about non-refundable booking fees carefully. It may be a headache to deal with if you have last minute changes. You can a) dispute it anyway and get your ¥$£ back or b) save yourself the trouble and avoid the hostels in Denver altogether.

Madison S.

Yelp
I Loved the atmosphere and drinks here. Bartender ruled!!! Thank you so much, Olman!!!

Beth H.

Yelp
Fun, inviting environment. Bar in the hostel is fully stocked and comfortable. Rooms have individual clever themes. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Good amount of security and easy to find from the train.

Brittney S.

Yelp
The best place to stay when traveling for cheap. You meet great people and the environment is amazing. The bartender Olman makes an amazing drink, even when you don't know what you want.

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Olman was awesome!!! He made us feel welcomed right away and made the stay amazing! Will definitely be coming back. Really cool looking and clean on the inside.

Olivia T.

Yelp
My stay here was great. My roommates were awesome and it was great getting to know them and the price can't be beat. There was a kitchen that guests could use which made me save a bit on food and coffee. The bed was comfy and the curtain, light, fan, and outlets personal to each bed made it easy to turn in at night. I got an amazing night's sleep while here. I do have one complaint. I reserved a bed in a shared room with 8 beds for female travelers and there was one guest in the room who was male presenting and using a male name. I don't want to make assumptions about gender, but this unsettled me, especially as a survivor of sexual assault with some trust issues when it comes to men. He seemed cool, and I never felt unsafe, but I feel that the experience may have been been different if it were someone else.

Shar S.

Yelp
I love this place so much. On my first trip here, I was blown away! A very great owner. Sweet, social, down to earth, and just overall very personable. LOVED the setup of the hostel. Very clean in every area, and a very lovely antiqued-burlesque theme going. There are also different themes for each room... from Paris to [tasteful] porn to motorcycles! There's a bar on first floor that is also open to the public, so expect crazy cool events happening! Great bartenders, great drinks, and great service. Just a really nice place to be in an even better area of the city. Very deserving of 5 stars!

Kellyn G.

Yelp
Stayed in the king private room. It was great! Cool atmosphere and great location! The bar on the 2nd floor was really fun!

Yelp
I've been eyeing this hostel for a minute and finally got to stay here. Unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. I stayed in the female 9-bed dorm. Pros - The room comes with lockers. - They have an elevator to the 2nd (reception) and 3rd floor (the rooms). - They have a bar - Lots of restaurants within walking distance - Union Station isn't too far of a walk - Lots of rail lines and bus stops within walking distance - The bed was comfy compared to a lot of hostel beds I've slept on - The female bathrooms are nice and kept clean for the most part - You are given a free towel during your stay Cons - Depending on your bed location, you may or may not have a bed lamp - Lacks a social vibe - The kitchen doesn't have a real stovetop. Just a portable 2-burner stove - They need 2 refrigerators. One isn't enough because the staff store their food items in the same fridge - Grocery stores are a bit of a walk (e.g. King Soopers) I noticed there were a number of older adults as guests. Not too common in American hostels.

Parker C.

Yelp
Big sexy. AKA max is the best person in Denver he loves to take care of homeless!!!!!!
google avatar

Kelli T.

Yelp
Great, fun hostel right in the middle of a plethora of things to do. Pro tip - Be sure to note curfew times or the door will be locked. It is posted but just wanted to make you aware. Bar right in hostel was more happening than most in town, reasonable drinks, fun dj. Overall a great stay!

Olivia C.

Yelp
The owner here is extremley shady and disrespectful. They stole money from me, double charged me when I'd already paid and refuse to refund me. I have never been treated so poorly as guest or customer in my life, and just because I asked to have my money they stole refunded....do not trust them.
