Stayed at Hostel Forestal for 10 days and had an amazing experience! The desk staff is very helpful and friendly and gave me a lot of valuable information. The kitchen is large and clean. The rooms and bathrooms are also clean. It's in a great location close to the metro and restaurants and grocery shops. There is a nice park nearby. One of the best hostels I've stayed at.

I would avoid this hostel. Rooms are dirty and smell horrible. The staff agreed to change the cover of the pillow and the duvet, but it should be changed anyways.. breakfast is cheap and nice, location is also very good, but sleeping in a dirty room with lots of flies, and a smell so strong, that you can’t even breathe, is definitely not adequate for such a price.. what a shame. also, to add to a very clever response of the staff: Honestly, justifying tragic conditions as “the cheapest option” sounds extremely unprofessional. The “cheapest option” at your hostel cost me 16 EUR, for which almost anywhere in South America you would find not only decent conditions but also a private room. If a “cheapest option” that costs 16 EUR means flies, a strong stench in the room, broken sewage, and dirty bed sheets, I hardly believe that any other option you offer would be any better. And in fact, if you haven’t noticed, you have a very large number of negative reviews. Therefore, I would recommend making even your cheapest rooms humane, because even if it seems cheap to you, for the community you are creating this hostel for, it is not a cheap option. Take care.

I only stayed for a night - the hostel was super nice and had a great location! They let me store my backpack for two weeks! Highly recommend!

We had a great experience in the hostal. Everything was clean and the assistance from the staff was excellent. I would recommend staying here thanks to Angie, Edwin and Carolina who made the whole experience worthwhile.

I had made a reservation in which I specifically mentioned Id need to drop off my luggage a week before in order to leave some things in Santiago while traveling. They assured me it was ok, but when I got there not only did they not have a special room for where to store my luggage (which would be ok, but beforehand they told me they had such a place) but also did the guy working the reception seem to be either completely sleep derived or on some drugs. He seemed generally annoyed and not helpful at all. In the end I went with a different hostel

The service is simply amazing. I stayed in a hotel more expensive for days and decided to spend my last nights in another place, as soon as I went in to ask for availability the receptionist Angie attended me with an impressive smile, everyone makes you feel at home. The breakfast is very complete, you choose what to eat, the rooms are clean. The atmosphere is just very nice, all the receptionists speak english so it's not a problem if you don't know spanish. I recommend this place to everyone!

I'm loving my stay here. Each one of the staff are super helpful, special shout-out to Angie who went above and beyond!! Comfy beds, clean nice bathrooms, and a very generous breakfast served every day. The reception is also 24/7. The hostel is full of lots of friendly backpackers. If I'm ever back in Santiago, this is where I would stay. Thank you guys.

Hostal Forestal has a great location and the hostel seemed very nice at first. It took me 2-3 nights into my stay to realize that I wasn’t covered in mosquito bites, but had been sleeping in a bed with bedbugs. I’m attaching a picture of just my hands which both have trails of small red bug bites. I also have bug bites on my face and ankles, which are common places where bedbugs bite. I understand this isn’t necessarily the fault of the hostel, but it’s one of the worst case scenarios while traveling. I was given a new bed in a different room after I reported this to them. No refund was given. I had no problems with bedbugs in my previous hostel so I can only assume it came from Hostal Forestal. The bathrooms were also not very clean, in particular the floors were pretty dirty. Unfortunately I would recommend staying with a different hostel in Santiago.
