Hostel HI Mont Dore

This hostel is in an ideal location for hiking up the Puy de Sancy being already halfway up the valley. The hostel itself also has some nice facilities. However, it also smells of dog and the bedroom we stayed in was somewhat run-down. The check-in time is 6pm which meant lots of people were hanging around for hours with their rucksacks. The breakfast was adequate. Our interaction with the staff was minimal. They didn't come across as friendly which was rather disappointing.

Very nice location in the mountains and also nice with the pooltable and ping pong table. There was also very good food. However we found our room to small for 4 people.

The auberge is fine, but the director or manager is a rude cold person which is such a shame. The auberge is really great, clean. The other staff is kind and pleasant. The ambiance during our stay was pleasant with the other visitors. I would give it 4 or 5 stars if it was not for this guy.

Clean, cozy, welcoming. It's a great place and I would definitely book with them again. The two issues I had were that the shower head clip was broken, so I had to hold on to it while showering and that it is not easy to get into town. The shuttle service only runs seasonally, so be prepared to either walk a good amount or figure out a car service. However, the people are friendly, the area is a wonderful place to explore, and it was incredibly easy to feel completely relaxed. I would definitely consider them if you're planning a trip to Mont-Dore!

Yes it's a youth hostel. You do have to make and strip your own beds. Don't let that put you off. The hostel is up in the hills surrounded by beautiful country side. The welcome is warm and friendly. The rooms are bunks, a little shabby in places but clean and comfortable with gorgeous views. The breakfast is a good buffet, with coffee, tea, and as much as you like to eat. There are lots of amenities such a kitchen, laundry facilities, games, including a baseball court and pool table. There is a very reasonable bar. The evening meal is great quality and very good value for money at 12 euros for four courses including a brilliant cheese selection. Other than the bunks ( I am 50) you can't fault this place.

A hostel exactly like I would expect from description and pictures. Room was ok, bathroom and sanitary very very small but ok.

Superbe auberge, personnels sympa et à l'écoute. Petit déjeuner avec beaucoup de choix pour bien démarrer la journée et bien se restaurer et le dîner menu excellent . Je conseille ce lieu d'accueil sans soucis et sans oublier notre super ami OSCAR le chien un amour et une beauté.

Une auberge de jeunesse au top ! Elle est super bien équipée, avec la possibilité de prendre un petit déjeuner copieux et varié, ainsi qu'un dîner avec un bon rapport qualité prix. L'emplacement est idéal pour le départ de vos randos dans le Sancy.
