Hostel Hikers Den

One of the best hostels ive ever stayed at. Great atmosphere and friendly vibe. Nice and clean with good facilities. Stefan and Alex are extremely knowledgeable and provide great advice on how to fill your day. This place is a dream for hikers, highly recommend! I only had 3 nights but wish I stayed at least a week!

A fantastic hostel run by two brothers who really care about their guests & especially the safety of them when hiking in the mountains. It is a hostel where people go to hike in the Durmitor National Park and a great location to base yourself. All amenities and rooms were very clean

Had a great stay at this hostel! The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the staff truly went above and beyond. They gave clear, helpful instructions and great tips that really contributed to making the hiking experience smooth and memorable. Everything was clean and comfortable, perfect central location and it was easy to meet fellow travelers. All the best to Stefan and Alex– you're doing an amazing job helping hikers have the best experience possible!

If you spend time in Žabljak and you don’t stay here, you better have a good excuse. Stay minimum 3 nights, but the more the better. The hostel is very social and you’ll meet plenty of people to hike with. Last but not least, Stefan is the best hostel host I’ve met. Make sure you try get to know him over some Rakija.

Alex and Stefan were the best hosts, incredibly knowledgable on the area and the park. The place is well kept and clean. We stayed in a private room (two people) and it was perfect. They provide hike briefings every morning so you know where exactly to go, how best to get there, and what your hike will look like!

Bad experience - fast but poor customer service. I have gotten sick for my trip while backpacking. The have a 7 day in advance cancellation policy (check other hostels which are much more flexible). Have lost approx. 100€ for 3 days :( never again .

My best hostel experience to date, and it's largely due to the incredible owners Alex and Stefan who genuinely make you feel like family. Whether it's a perfectly clean room, well-maintained facilities, or just a friendly chat, their dedication to guest satisfaction is evident in every interaction. For anyone planning to explore the stunning trails around Žabljak, this hostel is an absolute godsend. The owners are not just proprietors, they are incredibly experienced hikers themselves, intimately familiar with every peak, valley, and hidden gem in the Durmitor National Park. They provided invaluable advice on routes, difficulty levels, and must-see viewpoints, tailoring recommendations to your fitness level and interests.

Our stay at Hostel Hikers Den was made truly special thanks to our host, Stephan-an absolute gem and one of the best hosts I’ve ever met! He took the time to give us a perfect one-day itinerary in just ten minutes, sharing his deep knowledge of the area and plenty of helpful tips. Thanks to him, we had one of the best drives through the Sedlo Mountain Pass! Such a great guy! The accommodation itself was excellent: our rooms were very clean, the bathrooms were spotless, and the kitchen was fantastic, fully equipped with everything you might need. It’s a warm, welcoming place that feels just like home. Highly recommend Hostel Hikers Den to anyone visiting the National Park-you’ll be in great hands with Stephan and enjoy a comfortable, hassle-free stay!
