Hostel Hikers Den

Alex and Stefan are very helpful. They will help you plan what hikes to do and brief you beforehand. Very clean hostel. Any issues they will try to fix them immediately. Very good location, close to the bus station and not a far walk from the national park. You can tell that they really take pride in the standard of their hostel. Could do with an extra bathroom but not a big issue. Highly recommend staying here.

We had an incredible experience in Durmitor, and Alex played a huge part in making it unforgettable. He was incredibly helpful and truly enhanced our trip, guiding us to the most breathtaking landscapes. He encouraged us to take on some amazing hikes, while always being mindful of our limits. I would 100% recommend this place if you're looking for a base to explore the area, rather than a place to lounge around. It's not about luxury here—this is a spot for adventurous souls seeking nature and exploration.

I stayed four nights at Hickers Den and had an amazing experience. It's a great place if you travel solo and want to meet other travellers to hike with. The hostel is clean and well located. Alex and Stefan can give you great advice, and are always available if you have questions. You can rent or borrow equipment if needed. I highly recommend it!

Stefan and Alex were incredibly welcoming, hospitable and very knowledgeable about the hiking in the national park. My safety and enjoyment was always out first by them and this made for an incredible experience. Their guidance helped to push through some Technical hiking which I wouldn’t have done without them. Highly recommend !

Auberge to be avoided, the host is very aggressive! (I understand better the other messages about his aggressiveness) Due to heavy thunderstorms in the area we asked them to shorten our stay, which was initially accepted by one of the hosts by message. Once there, Stephan isolated us and assaulted and insulted us, threatening to call the police if we didn't pay for the 2nd night without even letting us explain to him that his colleague had agreed to it. Of course, we had no objection to paying for the 2nd night, as we had given notice of the change for the following day the day before, but Stephan's insulting and very, very aggressive reaction shocked us deeply. We finally paid what we owed and Stephan continued to be aggressive throughout the stay. As with some of the other reviews, he put a lot of pressure on us about the mountain hikes, breaking into our room without our having asked him anything and speaking to us violently to tell us that he absolutely had to validate our hiking itinerary. Worst hostel experience of our lives, even though we're used to backpacking in backpackers' hostels, and have never had any problems.

Always my go to place when I’m in Žabljak! I’ve been coming here since 2015 and I always stay here at Hikers Den! It’s the best location, tidy and clean beds, rooms and other common areas. The staff is two brother, Alex and Stefan, and they are locals with +20 years of experience and knowledge of the tours and hikes around Durmitor, Bobotov Kuk etc. I can’t recommend this enough! The hostel is very clean, well-maintained and inviting. Hosts were super knowledgable and helpful about all of the best hiking options in the area. There's a great outdoor area at the hostel to eat/drink, hang out and socialize with everyone.
