Hostel Lagares

Had an amazing stay at this hostel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and friendly place to stay. From the moment I arrived, I felt truly welcome. The owner is incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help. Whether you need advice on local attractions, assistance with booking transport or activities, or just a friendly chat, he’s there for you. His warm and personal approach really made a difference in my experience. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and the beds are very comfortable — I slept really well throughout my stay.

Javier (the owner) was really fantastic with us when we stayed. Answers every question we had over whatsapp and was even better when we were there. We felt very welcome. A little far out from the main square but if you don’t mind walking this place is perfect!

DO NOT STAY HERE. HOUSEKEEPING ARE THIEVES. There was a string of thefts in which people were missing money from their wallets and money pouches left in the rooms and lockers. We had them look up the security footage for one instance, in which it clearly showed only housekeeping going in and out when the theft occurred. The housekeeper even lied and said she saw a blonde guy go in and take it, when there is nobody fitting that description in sight. When presenting this to the front desk, they completely denied it because “they trust the housekeeping”. Who knows how long this scam has been going; they would only take some of the money out of each bag, so many people didn’t even notice until we said something.

Avoid unless you want money stolen by the cleaner. My friend had 10,000 pesos stolen. I had $25 stolen. And another guy had $60 stolen. I had my bag locked away for most of the time other than for maybe 1 hour. I only realised the money had gone after I’d left. My friends raised it with reception and the cctv showed the cleaning lady in the room but still didnt believe it. Then I’ve just read reviews here too that mentioned money stolen. So if you stay here, always always keep your money locked away….

I stayed here through recommendations from others I had met along the way. I stayed in this hostel for a week. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Jessie was very informative about all the things I needed to know about Mendoza especially relating to things I needed to have done for my vehicle.

A real home away from home! My partner and I had decided to elope while we were in Mendoza and were so fortunate to stumble upon the staff at Lagares. We are not fluent Spanish speakers and are half way through a year long trip in Latin America so we KNOW we would have struggled getting married if it wasn’t for Javier and his team. There are no words to express our deep gratitude for Javier and Franco, who literally helped us in every aspect of our elopement and were even the witness to our wedding. But we could tell that this is just the type of hostel it is…helpful, kind, all-knowing and passionate. We felt right at home the second we walked in the door! The showers are hot, the beds are comfy, the breakfast is delicious (especially the fresh bread) and the staff are exceptional. This is the hostel to be at in Mendoza 100%. Thank you so much again! You are our home in Argentina!

6/5 hostel. Great staff, Javier is so helpful and cheerful. He gave us numerous recommendations for travelling and in general. The staff clean everything everyday and even fold your clothes when they make your bed. Nice kitchen, great breakfast and lots of space inside and outside the hostel to hang. They also have lots of tours and are in a good location away from the city chaos but within easy walk to it!

Great stay! Nice service, clean toilets and rooms. Can recommend.
