Moved to write a rare review by how good this was - one of the best experiences eating out on French holiday. Excellent food, great setting, very good value. Just 2 options for main meal at lunch - when we visited: a platter of meats, cheeses, terrine, langoustines, salmon, oysters, and a chicken dish with aubergine and mussels. Both excellent (see photos). Interesting dessert of sliced pear with a kind of corn custard and granola (I loved, partner less so!). 19.5 Euros for 2 courses. Highly recommended.

We came for the great reviews and good looking food and were not disappointed! A very cozy restaurant with great tasting food. The menu had a couple main dishes to choose from, while the entrees and desert were a variety of small dishes to share. The staff was friendly and very patient with us, since we only spoke a little French. Would really recommend! We haven't eaten such a delightful dinner in a while.

You are given a selection of starters, you choose your main dish, you can order a cheese plate if you want, you finish with a selection of desserts.... everything is delicious. You go down to the cellar to bring up your wine. The staff are lovely and I thoroughly recommend this experience

We came here to eat 4 years ago en route to Calais ( Poitiers our stop over for the night) and loved the food, back last night and it was once again amazing!!! …. Be prepared to eat too much !!!

What a great experience on all fronts. Great menu, service and atmosphere. True Frech “auberge” with high quality food, wine and friendly staff.

A hidden gem, a definite must if you are ever in Poitiers and we will most definitely be returning.
