This was the best hostel I’ve stayed at during my trip in Europe. The facilities were great, but what really stood out was the kindness of the staff. I arrived on a night train and went straight in to drop off my luggage, and they welcomed me so warmly. Even though I arrived before check-in time, they let me rest and made everything comfortable for me. Thanks to them, I was able to relax and recover. The facilities are excellent, too. There’s free cereal, coffee, and tea available in the kitchen. The location is also perfect — right below Heidelberg Castle, which makes it super convenient for sightseeing. If I come back to Heidelberg, I’ll definitely stay here again. Highly recommended! ☺️

Lovely place! Can only recommend! Amazing location (Altstadt center!). The staff were really friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were all clean. |Loved the option to have coffee and cereal for free (any time of the day!) There are several outlets right next to the bed which is perfect for charging your phone at night! |Can only recommend and would stay there again!

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! Rooms and bathrooms were always clean. The room had a secure locker to store my stuff in. Staff were friendly and helpful! Location is also just so perfect too.

I stayed here back in Apr. 2024. This was genuinely the nicest place I've ever stayed in! The staff are incredibly friendly and amicable. You genuinely feel like you're staying at a really cool second home with friends. I was just a guest, I didn't actually know the staff, but I find myself wondering about them from time to time even now. I hope they're all doing wonderfully! Frankly, I wish I could work there alongside them, as it's such a wonderful place! There's a communal kitchen that anyone can use that comes with complimentary cereals/Müsli. The kitchen isn't really ever messy, but one of the pictures I took was while I was in the middle of making dinner for myself, so it looks messier. There's also a communal bathroom (and a more private girls-only bathroom), a balcony, and an absolutely lovely living room next to the kitchen. They'll do your laundry for you, just ask someone, bring them the clothing, and they'll take care of it.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at. Run by a lovely lady who clearly has a passion for backpacking and it shows. Clean, welcoming, +++amenities.

I recently stayed at Lotte in Heidelberg for the first time, and I had a wonderful experience. The hostel was impressively clean and had a welcoming atmosphere. Its location is excellent, with a bus stop conveniently nearby, making it easy to explore the area. I arrived during lunch and was able to relax in the cozy living room and kitchen. Alison and Riccardo were fantastic hosts, always ready to help and make me feel at home. My room was spotless and had plenty of outlets, which was a nice touch. The light breakfast offered was a bonus, and I took full advantage of the four types of cereal available. The hostel is incredibly walkable, making it easy to discover all that Heidelberg has to offer. Overall, I highly recommend Lotte for anyone visiting the city!

The hostel is very cozy, very clean, it has a great location, and team makes you feel welcome, they are very kind. The coffee is good the kitchen is full of good musli and cereals, very natural seasonings if you would like to cook your own food, the milk for your coffee or tea is organic or Bio and also have different kinds vegan (almomds, oat etc.) and regular one. I also met very nice people in the common area. I highly recommended. Books and board games, guitars makes your time indoors super enjoyable.||Warms Regards,|Eu. CR

Yelp
This hostel is in a perfect location- at the bottom of the castle, and in the heart of the Altstadt. It's clean and the beds are really comfortable. They have two routers for the wifi, so you still have connection in the attic. The staff are friendly and nice. It's slightly more expensive than other hostels I'd stayed at in Europe. I still think that given Heidelberg prices, it's totally worth it. The floors will creak and the walls aren't the thickest though, if you're a light sleeper (which I'm not). 5/5

Yelp
My best friend and I went on a European road trip of 6 countries in November of 2013. We didn't really have an itinerary, we just knew which countries we wanted to travel through (Belgium, Lux, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland) and our final destination (Venice, Italy). As we drove through Germany and consulted the myriad of travel sites, we decided to visit (and eventually stay) in Heidelberg... boy am I glad we did. From the popular Schloss Heidelberg to the less popular (but MUST SEE) the Nazi Amphitheatre: the Thingstatte, this town was one of our favorites. But one reason why this town was so wonderful was it's accommodations. We stayed at the Lotte: a backpackers haven and one of the cleanest, friendliest Hostels we stayed at while in Europe. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly attentive staff. They weren't the normal attendants, but they were very knowledgeable, showed us around and gave us a great tip on cheap parking (the 11th parking lot for just 2.50 euro!) The bathrooms were super clean and they even had one that was just for the ladies. The beds were comfortable and they provided all linens, including towels. We stayed in a 5 bed co-ed and it was occupied by a super nice girl from California and a guy we didn't really talk to but was very respectful. There was no curfew and they had a super clean kitchen with cereal and coffee in the am. Also to note but we did not use was the balcony for smokers and a nice social room with lots of books and games. The decor was quite nice; the bedroom had a beautiful carved ceiling and was decorated very nicely... not your typical particleboard or rusty bunk beds. The location is also fantastic: Right at the foot of the Heidelberg Castle and minutes from everything the Altstadt (old town) has to offer. So if you are in the market for a beautiful little place with great value and awesome location, DO NOT VENTURE ANY FURTHER THAN THE LOTTE! We did go to Steffi's Hostel... If I were you, I wouldn't stay there... it is far away and smells gross. We went there first and there was no attendant and it reeked. Go to LOTTE!!! You will be happy you did!
