I've traveled a lot internationally and been to many hostels - this has been one of the best. seems like very experienced people have a good look for little details that make a backpackers life easier. it's super cozy in the living room, the bathrooms were always clean and the female dorm was spacious and beautifully decorated. they have free oats throughout the day. location is also perfect, super central in the old city and close to the castle. I highly recommend choosing lotte :)

There are hostels where you’d stay again and then there are those you can’t wait to stay in again. Hostel Lotte is the latter. The location is perfect and central to anything you could want to see. The rooms and bathrooms are comfy and clean. The common room is cozy and inviting with decor that makes you feel at home. The best part? The service! The Lotte crew love what they do and it shows. They want their visitors to truly enjoy their stay. I cannot wait to visit again. See you soon, Carmen!

This is a cozy, clean, detail oriented little hostel with perfect location. The kitchen is fully equipped, stocked with coffee, tea, oats, cereal, fair-trade milk, and oat milk. The common lounge area feels warm and inviting, and their no-dishwashing policy for guests is a brilliant way to promote sustainability while keeping everything hygienic. The bathrooms come with all the essentials like body wash and a hairdryer, and my dorm room had secure lockers with built-in locks, plus an extra pair of desk chairs that made it feel surprisingly spacious. The staff were incredibly friendly and eager to share local travel tips. In short, I was thrilled to spend the night here!

I had a perfect experience during my one-week stay. Carmen was incredibly kind - she showed us pictures on the wall and shared beautiful stories with us. The room was very comfortable, and the prices were really good. All the colleagues were friendly, and I even made new friends. I truly had one of the best holidays of my life. Highly recommended! Easily my favourite hostel ever. The staff were so helpful with suggestions and tips, even guiding me to my room and helping carry my bag. The breakfast was delicious and the amenities were very convenient. Its location was right in the heart of Heidelberg. I am so grateful to have stayed in such a lovely hostel. 100% recommend to anyone.

After staying in many dozens of hostels, Lotte ranks at the very top. Lovely staff, amazing location at the foot of the castle, free coffee, tea (milk included), and cereals at any time of day. A sweet common room which encourages conversation, which travellers loved to spend time in, as well as a very functional kitchen. The rooms lock automatically, and the front door gets locked at night. You have a locker in your room as well, so it felt very safe. Cannot recommend this amazing place enough!

The location of the property is the catch of your reasonably priced stay at Lotte. Moreover, the hostel is very well maintained and my co hoteliers were also quite nice. Reception service is quite commendable and they were genuinely helpful towards the guests wanting them o explore the beautiful old city!

Yelp
This hostel is in a perfect location- at the bottom of the castle, and in the heart of the Altstadt. It's clean and the beds are really comfortable. They have two routers for the wifi, so you still have connection in the attic. The staff are friendly and nice. It's slightly more expensive than other hostels I'd stayed at in Europe. I still think that given Heidelberg prices, it's totally worth it. The floors will creak and the walls aren't the thickest though, if you're a light sleeper (which I'm not). 5/5

Yelp
My best friend and I went on a European road trip of 6 countries in November of 2013. We didn't really have an itinerary, we just knew which countries we wanted to travel through (Belgium, Lux, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland) and our final destination (Venice, Italy). As we drove through Germany and consulted the myriad of travel sites, we decided to visit (and eventually stay) in Heidelberg... boy am I glad we did. From the popular Schloss Heidelberg to the less popular (but MUST SEE) the Nazi Amphitheatre: the Thingstatte, this town was one of our favorites. But one reason why this town was so wonderful was it's accommodations. We stayed at the Lotte: a backpackers haven and one of the cleanest, friendliest Hostels we stayed at while in Europe. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly attentive staff. They weren't the normal attendants, but they were very knowledgeable, showed us around and gave us a great tip on cheap parking (the 11th parking lot for just 2.50 euro!) The bathrooms were super clean and they even had one that was just for the ladies. The beds were comfortable and they provided all linens, including towels. We stayed in a 5 bed co-ed and it was occupied by a super nice girl from California and a guy we didn't really talk to but was very respectful. There was no curfew and they had a super clean kitchen with cereal and coffee in the am. Also to note but we did not use was the balcony for smokers and a nice social room with lots of books and games. The decor was quite nice; the bedroom had a beautiful carved ceiling and was decorated very nicely... not your typical particleboard or rusty bunk beds. The location is also fantastic: Right at the foot of the Heidelberg Castle and minutes from everything the Altstadt (old town) has to offer. So if you are in the market for a beautiful little place with great value and awesome location, DO NOT VENTURE ANY FURTHER THAN THE LOTTE! We did go to Steffi's Hostel... If I were you, I wouldn't stay there... it is far away and smells gross. We went there first and there was no attendant and it reeked. Go to LOTTE!!! You will be happy you did!
