Hostel MaPatagonia

In the top 3 best hostels I've stayed in. Very clean, quiet, nice people, lots of places to hang your stuff in the shower and in the room. You can see that whoever designed the place has traveled a lot himself. Highly recommend and it's a shame I can't give 10 stars!

Pretty mediocre hostel overall. I have stayed in a lot of hostels around the world, and this one is absolutely below average at best. The owner does not take care of the building. The room doors do not have functioning locks and is secured with a padlock (would be pretty concerning for a female solo traveler). Bathrooms have no basic amenities a lot of hostels provide for free (shampoo, body wash, for example). Staff are very kind but know very little about the area and can’t give many useful suggestions/information. Wi-Fi does not work most of the time. The rooms can use better soundproofing for light sleeper (understandable since it’s an incredibly old building, but maybe earbuds could be provided?). This place needs A LOT of work and is a pretty poor value proposition for midrange travelers. I love the community aspect of the place, but probably wouldn’t book again if the owner doesn’t make meaningful improvements to his place.

Many other hostel hosts should be sent here to see and learn how to run a hostel properly. If there is something like perfect, then this place is very close to it. Very cozy and stylish building, that feels like home right from the beginning. Central, but quiet location. Kept super tidy and clean all the time. Very nice rooms and comfy beds. Shiny and sparkly bathrooms. Lots of storage space. A great garden. Free hot drinks all day. Well equipped and fully functional kitchen. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great relaxed vibe, with plenty of privacy if you want it, while also having the flair and "come together atmosphere" of a real community hostel. Simply everything is amazing, and comes at a very affordable price. We will definitely come here again should we once be back in town.

MaPatagonia hostel is well located and the staff is very helpful. A beautiful building with a wonderful atmosphere.

Fab place, just up the hill from the lake edge in Puerto Varas, 2 minutes to walk down to the supermarket and the main town. Really lovely feeling in the hostel, they have created a really great atmosphere. Roaring fires on in every room. Clean bedding, clean showers and bathrooms. Lovely outside area with seating and a bike shed. Reception staff lovely, very helpful. Helped me to set up my SIM card and had lots of useful info about the area. They also had a freshly baked cake with pieces for sale which was delicious, an unexpected nice touch to find in a hostel! Would definitely recommend this place, thanks for having me!

We are 72and 68 year old seniors from Canada - just ending a 2,000 km bike trip in Patagonia. We spent 7 nights at the end of our tour to pack the tandem and our panniers . It was a lovely great spot to pack the bike relax and chill - fantastic staff - lovely ambiance. Quite cool at night for great sleeping. Clean functional kitchen and restrooms. Highly recommend We had a problem with our LaTam Airline ticket excellent English speaking staff helped us kindly to rebook we are most grateful

Excellent hostel. The location and the people are amazing. The garden is a perfect place to work. Pierre is lovely. The kitchen was well equipped and plenty of space. It was difficult to sleep because it was very loud, especially when it was windy. Don’t forget your ear plugs!

Absolutely perfect hostel - thank you so much for our stay! We loved this hostel - one of the best we’ve stayed at. Really cosy, great rooms and the owner was really friendly and helpful! Due to the set-up in the dining area we made friends very easily which lead to white water rafting together and exploring puerto Montt following the owners recommendations! Thank you!
