Hostel Melmac Patagonia

The beds are great and very comfortable, the room also had a heater. However the bathroom was a mess, the hot water would only last about 5 minutes and then it would turn cold. Also we found slugs and spiders. The morning staff wasn't very friendly or helpful, kind of intimidating. While the afternoon staff was very nice. Overall I would try another hostel next time.

Although advised in Lonely Planet, we did not have a good experience. The girl at the desk was not very helpful, friendly, nor hospitable. For example, when we asked to book a specific tour, she booked something completely different without giving any details or explanation. The hostel was pretty old but not well maintained and (therefore) not very clean. On a positive note: the shower was warm and the location is good.

I stayed in Alfonsos hostel for a week and could not have imagined a better host. He will help you to find your way around! The hostel is great with comfortable beds, everything you would need in the kitchen, hot water for a shower during the cold and rainy winter, and the best of all: it is right in the city centre. At night you can sit around the fire in the backyard and enjoy a great Chilean asado (barbecue). The only negative thing I can say is that Alfonso might not hear the bell at first ring, so dont give up because its a great place to stay!

i won't write about the hostel, i havn't slept in. But for more than a month i've been in contact with melmac regarding a 5 days horseriding trip. It was terrible and stressful to communicate with them, as they always took at least a week before to answer each mail, giving as little answers as they could. But worst part is, whan i pressed them harder to give all details and finalize the booking, they told me they had no more place available!! after 1 and 1/2 half mont and two weeks before the supposed departure, they ruin all our plans, making it impossible, because too late, to go through another agency. I'm very mad at them, so please be careful, they might be able to handle an hotel, but definitly not a tour or an expedition, go witgh someone else!!!!

Nice little hostel, great and helpful staff, good breakfast, super clean and good atmosphere. Perfect to relax...

Mi esposo y yo nos quedamos solo una noche, pero volveríamos sin dudarlo. Impecable, cuidado y con mucha onda. Pequeñas cosas como un buen jabón de manos y un desayuno balanceado hacen una gran diferencia. Y no dejen de probar la cerveza artesanal! Estaba buenísima :)
