I booked the small double room for three nights from the 14/12 to 17/12 and we ended up with room 305. I have been backpacking LATAM for the last six months and I can honestly say this is one of the worst rooms and hostels I have stayed in. The only positives are the location and the rooftop bar. My issues with room 305 are as follows: The room is directly below the fourth floor dorm showers, so you can constantly hear people using them. The hot water pipes run through the top of the ceiling in room 305, so the room is extremely warm. The windows open up into a courtyard facing every other room. So you can’t sleep with the windows open unless you want everyone to see you. The hostel is really loud due to the open foyer / courtyard, so you can constantly hear people talking downstairs or the music from the rooftop bar. The room is extremely small - I know it’s described as small in the description. But there was no room to put our bags anywhere. They would be better making it into a private bunkbed room to gain floor space. The shower gel had also been watered down so much that the shower gel didn’t foam up. We checked out at 11:00am and our flight was at 21:00pm. We asked if we could pay to use the showers and towels after using the day to explore. The reception said they don’t offer this and we would need to pay to book a room. Check in isn’t until 3pm so we would have had the room for 3 hours before we had to leave for the airport. This is the only hostel I’ve ever been to where they don’t let you use the showers for a fee. For reference, the cheapest room available to book was £40. For breakfast they provided watermelon everyday - previous comments have complained about this and the hotel replied saying they’ve addressed it - a complete lie. The scrambled eggs were always completely overcooked as well. The shower had hot water though and the pressure was good. The WiFi also works well. And the laundry was 80 pesos total to wash and dry our clothes (max 5KG). I would not stay at this hostel again as I feel that the negatives out weigh the positives.

The location was perfect for if you want to go sight seeing and observe the historical city, the staff was friendly happy and helpful but the accommodations and lodging could use improvement. The rooms itself are weirdly formed around a quad where you can’t leave your window open unless you want other people to observe your room. So there is little privacy even for a private room. The room itself was so small that me and my one other friend sleeping in the room couldn’t open our suitcases comfortably. There was barely any space to move around without bumping into one another. Due to the quad layout you are constantly hearing other people loudly as the noise echos throughout. The rooms don’t have ac and overheat over night. The breakfast is extremely minimal with only one main option of entree and no alternatives. The shower is also very small and water is hard to use at time due to the water saving feature. Overall great location and staff but maybe renovation could be beneficial.

In my opinion the nicest hostel in CDMX, when I arrived Lu from the reception was very helpful, she was able to explain everything very nicely in perfect English! I felt free to ask questions and she was generally very friendly. The rooms were decent, though I did really miss some curtains for the beds, my bed was basically in the middle of the room without curtains so it felt very open. The hostel also hosts daily activities like a board game night and guacamole night. These were really awesome for meeting new people! The guacamole night specifically was very nice! They offer free breakfast which is usually some scrambled eggs, watermelon, bread, and cereal. Not luxurious but for the price I was more than happy to even receive a breakfast. Location was also perfect with nice rooftop view. 9/10 would recommend!

I absolutely loved my stay at Hostel Mundo Joven Catedral. The staff were some of the kindest people I’ve ever met while traveling. On my first night, around 2 AM, I woke up extremely thirsty and realized I hadn’t brought a water bottle. The night receptionist actually walked me to the nearest Oxxo so I could buy some water. I haven’t experienced that level of kindness in a long time, and it’s something I’ll remember for years — I don’t remember his name, but he truly deserves all good things. The location can’t be beat — right next to the cathedral and the Zócalo — and the rooftop terrace has incredible views, especially at sunset. Everything felt safe, clean, and organized, and the atmosphere was the perfect balance of social and relaxed. If I could change one thing, I’d love for the outdoor seating near the kitchen to stay open later at night. I completely understand that it closes for safety reasons, but as someone who gets late-night hunger, it can be awkward to eat in a shared room when others are asleep. Overall, this hostel really captures the heart of Mexico City — warm, lively, and full of genuinely good people. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. 💛

I enjoyed staying here. The location is great. There is a rooftop bar with a great view of zocalo square. My room was hot and it is noisy in that area. I woke up several times from the noise. Service at the hotel and rooftop bar were excellent. Security was also nice to have. Lou at the front desk was very helpful.

Got to do my first solo trip here. The service was amazing: the reception helped me to stay calm after losing my luggage, getting adapters and just organising my trip. This hostel provides daily walking tours, where you actually learn sth about the neighbourhood (Thank youuuu to Dan and Benito). There are also events like the guacamole night from Lu where there is room for great conversations between different cultures. The rooms were clean and provided the necessities. You get to met great ppl at the breakfast and plan spontaneous trips together. Thank you <3

I booked my first days and last days of my trip a few weeks in advance, but my itinerary changed so I had to find an extra night and reserved mundo because of its great reviews thankfully it wasn’t the weekend of day of the dead, but it was leading to it so my experience may have been different from a non festival period. I may consider returning when it’s slower. ||The pros |It’s right in the heart of the Zócalo and close to the metro station. Having breakfast available and included was a plus adequate seating downstairs and I didn’t realize there was an upstairs section dining as well and had to share a table. The welcome drink was a nice gesture. Next time I may consider returning for a longer stay. Like most hostels Dropping off luggage or having luggage stored while waiting for your flight is useful.||The cons |I was on the fourth floor woman’s dorm. It was really hot and the ventilation was really poor. I immediately had to open the windows to air out the place however at night being in the Zocalo it was really busy, especially October leading to day of the dead. It felt like a sauna with the windows closed and late October so I was wondering how people can tolerate during the warm hot months when it’s 15 or 20° warmer. ||I later learned from another lady who stayed there that there were fans in her room. She actually first stayed on the first floor, where she complained that it was too noisy, and she had moved to a different floor. ||I quickly opened the windows back after having them shut for two hours, but then the government workers were sanitizing the ground getting ready for a day of the dead—at 2am!!! Even with my earplugs on they don’t cancel the noises completely so it is still very loud. Then someone decides to be very considerate and takes a shower at 4 AM. My bunkbed shares a wall apparently with the shower room and the toilet so if anyone uses the bathroom or the shower room, you can hear the pipes. I guess the person who designed the Hostel didn’t think about people sleeping on the other side of the wall||The view from the kitchen terrace was really nice. However, the kitchen stove was very weak as everybody had echoed. It took foreveto just have boiling water. Maybe having an electric tea kettle would be nice.

I was in a female dorm. Was super chilled and I met super nice people. The stuff all so nice and help you with every question. There's security 24/7. And super nice too. The rooftop terrace is just beautiful. All the people who worked there very cool and nice. I loved the avocado-night. Sitting together, chatting, making avocado salsa and eating was super nice for socializing. Would be so great to have more of that little events. It's brings the people together.

Yelp
The hostel is okay but don't exepect something as great as they try to describe on there website. The restaurant and roof top bar were disappointing, the cold shower too, and there is no free 10 min massage as they say on the website, not a big deal but why making people expecting it if it doesn't exist? The breakfast "buffet" was mediocre, and the kitchen personal not really nice, one of them told me they don't have tea when she is actually drinking one.. The good things were the location, and both the guy at the check in and the security guy were really friendly and helpful.

Yelp
The bar is moderately priced for the zone. We hit the roof and paid a cover to get up. You could do better in the centro but the quality is pretty high for a hostel.
