Had a great night in this hostel. The staff was really friendly and funny! The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfy. The bathroom was on another floor, but it was okay. I felt safe and met some nice people there. They also have a piano and other activities to do in the hostel. I recommend!

All the reviews are true for this place. It's packed with things to do, clean, social, incredibly knowledgeable staff and close to all the places. Naples became my favorite city & Hostel of the Sun my favorite hostel in Italy. Berrein at reception turned around my entire trip by helping me plan the rest of my 3 weeks in Italy and day trip around Naples. The people I met during my stay were spectacular. The breakfast is serviceable and really appreciate the fresh bread and scrambled eggs everyday. The location is near the port, so you can take ferries to multiple places. I went to Pompeii & Amalfi and then took an overnight bus from Naples to Sicily which was my next destination. Also, recommend La Lazzara Trattoria e Pizzeria for an excellent local meal, it's a rare gem 10 steps away from the hostel. I also found other hostels in the city to be not as sociable or full like Hostel of the Sun. The little common room with a PS4, piano, arcade machine, foosball table really makes talking to people so easy. The staff works hard and is super caring to everyone. THANK YOU!

The BEST hostel I have ever stayed at. Rooms were great, location was fantastic and the staff were just amazing. Special shout out to Christian on reception who was so friendly, made sure we had everything we needed and gave us top-notch recommendations for things to do in Naples and beyond. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

We have returned to this place and were welcomed by name. AMAZING. When we got here it was now off season and we were upgraded to a private room with only single beds and three people and a private bathroom. How fantastic. We were very pleased. And to top it off it was half as much cost as last time. Everything about this place is great. Once again the location is awesome. 5 min to the bus to take us to the airport for just 5 euro. It leaves every 15 minutes or so. How good is that? We walked to the old city again, just 1km and enjoyed traditional Naples fried pizza and chocolate and spaghetti. We walked along the foreshore for ages. That is just a half block away. Thank you to all of the staff who make our stay so easy and convenient and informed. Luella and Kim

Fantastic experiance at this hostel especially as it was my first stay in a hostel! My friend & I stayed for one night and are ready to go back for a longer stay. We left our bags there during the day before check in, feeling assured they were safe. The people working reception were all incredibly lovely & helpful. The hostel lounge area was nice and we played boardgames with some people. Breakfast was fab & we hadn't realised was free. The mixed dorm was a 3 room & 4 room sharing a bathroom and the main door to this was locked & we had a key. Plugs and lamp next to each bed. Good bathroom and mirrors however by the time i showered that morning it cold. Really good wifi & air-conditioning!! Wasn't expecting the experiance we got. Location really good, right by ferry port or quick trip on the metro to the train station. Walked safely from their to the spainish quarter for delicious food. Will be coming back.

Google
the hostel is placed at a great location near the metro and the porto of napoli. good luck if you’re in the rooms by the shared lounge, literally zero noise isolation so you won’t be able to sleep while even the staff stays until late night playing games with the guests

Yelp
I'm pretty sure this is the only hostel in Naples. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. The mixed-gender rooms are very affordable, and there are big locker drawers under the beds. The bathrooms are private, and there were at least four, which was great. This hostel is very social with nice common spaces. Laundry service is 8€. You need 10¢ to ride the elevator at certain hours, and the hostel is on the 7th floor. They give you coins to ride it though. From their website, I thought they did hostel-specific walking, kayaking, and horseback tours, but the tours are actually not connected to the hostel at all. They just give you the name of the company and website. Breakfast was free, but so basic and honestly pretty bad. I think it was a piece of hard bread (even though they bake it fresh), gross plain cereal, and a slice of cheese. I can't quite remember, but pretty much all of it was unappetizing. I will say, some of the staff were very nice, and some were not so friendly. I asked if I could grab breakfast to take out with me before official breakfast hours started because I had a morning tour booked. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and said I could just ask the kitchen staff in the morning for some breakfast items to take with me. When I went to the kitchen in the morning, the woman at the front desk told me there was only fruit I could take with me. I was fine with that. She gave me one banana, and I asked if I could have another one. She said no. I thought, "Wow, this woman is very stingy with the bananas!"

Yelp
Hostel is great, guests are friendly and staff are extraordinary! From the spread of their free breakfast to their knowledge of their railway systems let's me actually feel like I'm on vacation! I don't really have to do any work except carry my luggage and even then, they offer to bring them up for you. Heck! They would even turn on your air conditioner if you don't want to move. The hospitality here has been wonderful. We only planned to stay for a night and still received the weekly stay treatment. Checking in was later in the day but our train arrived earlier. Marica, held our bags in a room as we explored the city. We also booked a couple of tours through them and they gave step by step directions how to get to each stop: visit Mt Vesuvius and Capri. Free wifi here and guests are so friendly to talk to you and share their experience. So I guess you don't really need the wifi. Definitely coming back to stay here again! Thanks for your hospitality Hostel of the Sun!

Yelp
Ironically, I did not like Naples but I had a great time at Hostel of the Sun. The atmosphere in the common lounge was always friendly. The hostel has an upbeat vibe influenced by the extremely extroverted staff. All the other guests were very social, and there were people of all ages staying here, from teenagers to typical 20/30-something backpackers; older parents, families with young children, even a doctor touring Italy with her grandmother! I spent 2 nights in a 5-bunk room here. There are several floors of rooms; the rooms on the same floor as the common lounge will be noisier. The hostel offers paid excursions and free dinners. They can order pizza delivery for you if you want; there are quite a few cafes around that you can get take-out from. There is also laundry service - the staff will do the laundry and you fold it yourself once it is done. Negatives: Although right next to the ferry terminal and convenient for those wanting to sail to Capri or Ischia, the location of the hostel is in a very sketchy corner of town. I would suggest solo females avoid arriving (for the first time) after dark if possible. The entrance lobby of the building looks like it is under perpetual construction - exposed wiring, rusty rails, worn paint, etc - don't be alarmed when you walk in. I guess it is accurately representative of how gritty Naples is. If I was to return to Naples I would stay in the historical center.

Yelp
This is a wonderful gem in the heart of Naples' financial district. The staff are exceptional across the board. Any individual would stand out at an other establishment. At Hostel of the Sun this premier quality is standard. Very affordable but does not feel cheap. Excellent security. Full kitchen and laundry service makes this a perfect home away from home. Do yourself a favor and book here for your next vacation

Yelp
Naples is a crazy place, but you don't want your hostel to be. Hostel of the Sun is comfortable and well-maintained. The staff, particularly Luca, are all a blast. They know the city well and are more than happy to help you out with suggestions. Located near the port, it's a 10 minute walk to the heart of the Centro Storico. There's a late-night farmacia located nearby which saved my forgetful ass when I left my toothpaste and soap in Rome. A small sandwich shop nearby is a good place for a mediocre snack or big bottles of cheap(ish) beer. Breakfast is included, and it's a great time to meet fellow travelers. There's even a huge jug of Nutella (the biggest I've ever seen). It's enough to energize you for the whole day. Yes, Naples is a crazy place, but you don't want your hostel to be (too much). I highly recommend Hostel of the Sun to anyone visiting Naples.

Yelp
The most amazing experience of my life was going To Italy and Hostel of the Sun made it possible. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I truly miss it and plan to go back soon.

Yelp
This would work mostly well for all hostel seekers. The location is quite central, but be warned that Naples is not as small as Florence, so there maybe a little bit of walking to do (which will seem a lot more in the cold) to go see the sights. A majority of the ensuites are very modern, well maintained and spacious, equipped with a television, clean bathrooms and airy, well ventilated and well lit. Some of the rooms however, are not quite. My friends who I was traveling with, had a particularly musty and unkempt room, in start contrast to my room. However, they were able to change their room and get one of the cleaner rooms. Several rooms were probably available because mid January is off season. The reception was particularly helpful and friendly and they worked with us to make sure we could get our room of choice. Now, the bad news: - The room heaters were not effective. Of course, we realized this only at 2am that we would have to stay cold all night - oh well! - The reception is on the 7th floor, and the rooms, from the 2nd to the 6th floor. The lift is tiny and works only with 5 cent coins, except on weekends. - The location is OK. If you have to get out to Pompei/Sorrento, you're much better off staying near the Circumvesuviana station - Hotels in Naples are not that expensive for some reason (or perhaps the cheaper tariffs were off season rates). So even if you're trying to work out cheaper costs, you might just be better off in a hotel with a better breakfast options, since Hostel of the Sun costs between 23 - 30€ per person. Overall I would still give HOTS four stars after comparing it with my other centrally located hostel experiences across the continent.

Yelp
4.5 Stars. The owners, maybe staff, at this place is amazing and was able to give us great directions to the trains, places to eat, and just everything that we needed. And the breakfast was pretty good for a hostel. There's a movie collection to watch, and the rooms have their own TV and DVD player. The annoying part was that the reception desk was on the 7th floor, and when you're literally carrying 50lbs of luggage up those stairs, it's a pain in the legs and the back. There is a lift, but it's small and you have to pay 0.05 euro to use it, Monday-Friday until 2200. But the owners of the hostel will provide you with the share change to use it. So it's no big deal...after you get up the stairs to reception to check in. The biggest selling point is that the owners are awesome. I can't say much for the rest of the staff...when we were checking out, we needed directions to the airport shuttle, the on-call girl at the desk gave us incomplete and wrong information. If it wasn't for the owner, who was on her way out, we would have been lost and late for our flight to another city. Too bad this place is in Naples. Naples is scary.

Yelp
I had a very nice stay in this hostel. The person at the reception was really friendly and our room (a private room for three people with bathroom) was nice, proper and quiet. The bathroom was really good. Furthermore, the hostel is near the sea, not really in the old city, but you have to walk only ten minutes to get there. Moreover, the price was really low for the quality of the hostel. I should recommand to stay there if you have a low budget and want to have a simple, but private room!

Yelp
My sister and I had a very pleasant stay recently at the Hostel of the Sun. We took the alibus from the napoli airport and was able to find our way to the hotel very easily. The hostel staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They recommend two great pizza places and several locations to go during our stay. We had booked a tour with another company and the hostel staff ensured that outing was a success as well. We rented one of the private rooms. The room was a good sized and was relatively clean. We did have to carry around two awkward room keys during our stay but that wasn't a big deal. The showers never consistently where hot or cold and you had to often toggle around to get the right tempture for yourself. Based on the location of our room we often heard doors closing during the night based on people coming and going. This prevented having a bit of a restful sleep. Overall, this hostel was a great value for the cost.

Yelp
Best hostel in Napoli hands down. Stay here and you won't be disappointed. The staff is amazing and the travelers that come through are amazing. I found myself returning to Hostel of the Sun between my other trips around southern Italy.
