Hostel Sassi of Matera

The hostel is in the heart of the historical part of Matera, so everything is reachable witihn short time (except for big discount grocery stores). The building has basically one huge room divided by curtains. In the common area there is a comfortable sofa as well as chairs; wifi works well. There is a small kitchen niche suitable for some basic cooking. 3 bathrooms with showers are disposable, too. The host, Ricco, is super friendly and attentive. Recommend it for short stays. Dislike: As the different spaces are not separated by walls, there is no isolaton whatsoever. The beds are installed very close to each other, which during the peak season, will be quite uncomfortable. From 20.30 to 09.15 on the following morning the lights are turned off (centrally), which I found uncomfortable, too.

Andrea was really helpfull. Despite we couldn’t stay there because of out dog, he helped us with valué information.

I had one of the worst experiences of my life staying here. Within the first night, I noticed itchy bites on my arms and legs. Upon further inspection, I discovered BEDBUGS in the mattress seams and behind the headboard. Totally unacceptable!

Although I’ve written my review in Booking.com, the excellent experience of my stay worths writing again here. |The hostel provides a kitchen for people to cook and a common area to eat and make new friends. The facilities, including the shared bathrooms, were clean and neat. Just located near the Sassi. There is a supermarket nearby, so convenient. |The host, Andrea, was very friendly. He suggested me what to see.

I recommend do not stay in the hostel Toilets are really dirty and there is so many bed bugs my body was full of rashes after sleeping one night really bad. If someone want experience the bedbugs rashes u can go to this hostel

Nothing negative. Modern and clean hostel at great prices for travellers. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. I wish they'd clean the bathrooms every early mornings since there are tens of people using them in the evening or at night. The location is perfect and the check in respected. Strongly recommend.

Fantastic location, great staff and very reasonable price! It was quiet, clean and chilly in the dorm even when it was 30°C outside. No bedbug, the problem is gone. In summary, GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!

Really nice, clean and organized hostel. The location is perfect, right in the old town part of Matera, with free parking spots not that far. We were 2 girls and we felt really comfortable, the owner was really nice to us and also recommended some places to go. I'm defenetly repeating when I come back to this city, and i greatly recommend, some cute cafes and cool bars are around just at the corner!
