Hostel Sassi of Matera

Fantastic location, great staff and very reasonable price! It was quiet, clean and chilly in the dorm even when it was 30°C outside. No bedbug, the problem is gone. In summary, GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!

Nothing negative. Modern and clean hostel at great prices for travellers. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. I wish they'd clean the bathrooms every early mornings since there are tens of people using them in the evening or at night. The location is perfect and the check in respected. Strongly recommend.

Really nice, clean and organized hostel. The location is perfect, right in the old town part of Matera, with free parking spots not that far. We were 2 girls and we felt really comfortable, the owner was really nice to us and also recommended some places to go. I'm defenetly repeating when I come back to this city, and i greatly recommend, some cute cafes and cool bars are around just at the corner!

Although I’ve written my review in Booking.com, the excellent experience of my stay worths writing again here. |The hostel provides a kitchen for people to cook and a common area to eat and make new friends. The facilities, including the shared bathrooms, were clean and neat. Just located near the Sassi. There is a supermarket nearby, so convenient. |The host, Andrea, was very friendly. He suggested me what to see.

The best: the location super near the old center and that people can enter at anytime along the night using a door code. The bathrooms are outside the rooms but they are always cleaned. The kitchen is super small but clean and they have almost everything to cook. Lockers available. The super bad thing, there are bed bugs. The mattress seemed clean but immediately when I got inside the bed I could feel the itchiness, couldn't sleep good and woke up with a lot of rednesses in my body. Also the girl that slept on the bed above me had the same problem. We complained, the staff understood the problem, gave us some topic cream and changed the other girl's room. Fortunately I only slept there one night.

Cool place, not far from the center, good prices. Check in time should be more flexible as it's an hostel and not an hotel, but considering that the hostel and the office are different building it's understandable. The place is quiet, people inside were cool, and lockers are free. It was a nice stay. Only downside: more plugs should be added to the wall, at least one for each bed.

BUGS IN A BED! Watch out||I Was strongly and painfully beaten by insects living in beds in that place so I discourage you from staying there.||Dirt, disinformation, lies from landlord about rooms equipped and standards.||No window but you could check it in advance

Unfortunately, they are dealing with major bed bug issues. Had to relocate 16 people because of it. 1/3/2025.
