Hostel Stein am Rhein

Travelling with my two pre-teen kids whilst cycling on Bodensee. We were kindly given our own room as we had young kids.||Accommodation is pretty much the last building within the town limits, but close to a swimming area on the Rhine. Provisions fairly standard and acceptable. Our room was on the main corridor so there was the usual noise you would expect. The staff were pleasant.||The only negative thing was that the windows had been left open all day, so by bedtime the rooms were, we discovered, full of midges and Mosquitos. One daughter had 67 bites on her, and I received quite a few.

its a little bit on the end of Stein but easy to find, just follow the way the river along and a little bit more.. the welcoming is friendly, its cheap and I just met friendly people there! its possible to get dinner but you have to book this in advance. very clean and helpful staff.||||Stein am Rhein isn´t big and its not too much to see but just to chill out on the riverside and enjoy a sunset, its worthless..||||there are many restaurants in town and they offer great menus from typical dishes so what kind of food like you? ;)||||easy to reach with the train and you are quite fast back in Zurich.||||pictures in my travel blog on facebook "my life with my backpack", I hope to see you there :)||||have a good journey,||||Christian

We went to this hostel in the summer after having visited the Rhein falls. Located 15 mins walking from the center of Stein am Rhein, we were disappointed by the services offered by this hostel knowing the price of a room and the parking. In Switzerland you can find very nice and picturesque hostels with very good quality-price ratios and cordiality, which is not the case here. The welcome to this block of concrete was pretty unfriendly, it seemed that we were just seen as the next persons going to give them some cash. They outline pretty strict rules that they want you to respect as soon as you arrive, not very pleasant... They also like to add taxes regarding anything, increasing the final price of almost 20% compared to what we expected when calling to book a room. You also have to make and unmake your bed yourself, however this is apparently not going to bring the price down. Nevertheless, the breakfast was pretty good and cleanliness was ok, but definitely not worth the price that we paid.

The hostel itself was nice. However the landlord wasn't really polite, he showed us the stinky finger and was quite pissed of everything. Never again!!

Family with kids or groups tour compatible place .near historical place Stein Am Rhein old Town.and summer Sports activities and kids fantastic choice.

Good place. It's easy to find, on the suburbs of it's town. The hostel seems to be recently reformed; the facilities were ok.

Quite clean and nice service. Very easily accessible to rhine and other locations.
