One of the best hostel with the best host. Been to a lot of hostel in Europe, hands down this is the best hostel experience I have had. The facilities are good, wouldn't say the best. But the courtyard and the living room downstairs are the best. It's always happening and a good vibe to sit around and chill. Worth for the money and would keep this one on high recommendations. Would definitely be back here if I m heading to Utrecht.

The hostel is clean and has a cool old-fashioned atmosphere. The service is pleasant, there is a kitchen, a garden with a terrace, a hall with tables and lockers. Bring your own soap! Our room was number 7 🥰

Small cozy, clean and quiet hostel. I'd definitely suggest. There is a clean and useful kitchen that you can cook your own also. Staff was very welcoming and great. Location is also good.

I booked one night there but actually left at 10:30 PM because the room was so incredibly hot that I couldn't get comfortable. Be aware that there are no fans or AC in these rooms. I gave up when I rolled over and my sheet was damp with my own sweat. I ended up booking a hotel nearby. Also, the bunkbeds are quite old and if you turn to the side, the whole bunk bed shakes. The building itself is very cute. But the toilet/bed ratio is low. Two toilets per floor is not enough.

Absolutely loved it! We arrived before check in but this wasn't a problem - we were able to park up our bikes (outside in courtyard - under cover to an extend but still got wet) and settle in and check in. Staff were all lovely and chatty, very welcoming. The shared area downstairs is lovely and light and just feels homely. We were on the top floor which was a bit of a trek but fine. Basic rooms (added advantage was having a sink in the room to be honest!), clean, tidy and comfortable. Toilets and showers clean - though be aware that if you want to take clothes into shower with you, you will need to be able to hang them up as there is no shelf/chair etc to put them on and it's essentially like a walk in shower!||Good facilities and good coffee! I loved Utrecht and will definitely consider coming back and staying. Location was great as well as very central but still a bit hidden out of the way. Wish we had stayed two nights!

I stayed with a group of French school pupils in May and it was a great place for us! The hostel is really friendly and welcoming, and communication with Juan and his team was excellent for the whole booking process too. The house has so much beautiful historic charm and is perfectly situation in Utrecht (I'd just recommend good ear plugs if you are on the road side on a Thursday evening as a student building is next door and Dutch students are quite lively! But this adds to the atmosphere of Utrecht too!) The rooms are simple but nicely done, comfortable and very clean. We were able to use the kitchen and the fridge, and plates and cutlery, for breakfast for the group and that worked out perfectly. Finally, I left a cardigan behind and they ever so kindly sent it back to me. So all in all, I really recommend Hostel Strowis!

It’s a quaint, well-located hostel which might remind you of how life used to be. Most of the place is made of wood, and there’s a beautiful garden and POND out the back. It has the best playlist of any hostel ever. A bit old school, and the older guy is an old rocker perhaps. I enjoyed being in the common area. It made me sneeze and smells like varnish, but at least it’s got soul. I made friends easily - it’s a good setup for having a chat. I also quite liked the volunteer vibe. Sort of has a share house kitchen. Which isn’t the greatest but it brought back memories of share house living. And it helps with the social part. It’s kinda expensive, given the beds aren’t modern and you make and strip your own linen. Locker hire is €10 (deposit). The showers and taps aren’t properly hot and the timer is a 10 second button on the showers. Why? Netherlands is always raining 😆 Towels are free though! The wifi is very good, there are enough power points for working, and the location is absolutely excellent. This hostel choice will make Utrecht an even more pleasant time, I’m sure of it.

Yelp
I am always somewhat skeptical about what I am going to find at a hostel. Anyone who has traveled much with hostels has one or two horror stories to share. The city of Utrecht is already beautiful enough but walking into this place let me take a deep breath. Let me tell you a little bit more. The atmosphere is amazing. Cozy. Great lighting. Not too loud. Wonderful furniture set-up. The lounge/eating area could literally be a coffee shop that would draw regulars. It's definitely not a party hostel. I think they actually lock the front door at 1am to keep it as such. Perfectly fine with me. The staff are super-nice. I always try to show special kindness to people who are hostel receptionists. They deal with people from all over the world asking the same questions over and over. These people literally blew me away. They were beyond nice and after checking in over a cup of tea, I was in a refreshed mood and making my way up to my room. The amenities. You can pay less to stay in a room with lots of bunks or you can pay a little more to stay in more private accommodations. They also offer fresh breakfast in the morning which is a little expensive as far as hostels go but it's all you can eat. They also offer a budget breakfast if you're watching your euros. I thought it was pretty crazy but they also offer wash and fold laundry service at a reasonable price. That is pretty golden for travelers. They have more than enough city guides lying around and an up-to-date bulletin board with things going on. I can't think of anything that's missing. If you mix a cozy coffee shop that serves beer and wine, a super-clean hostel, and a friendly bed and breakfast, you would land here.
