I've been coming here for years and always stay here when I go to Sugerbush for ski trips. Ryan is always a gracious, knowledgeable host and keeps the hostel in pristine shape. I've never had problem with any of the other guests in all my trips and as long as you follow the rules and be respectful to everyone (as you should) you won't have an issue and meet some really interesting people. If you want the vintage Vermont hostel experience I cannot recommend this place enough.

Google
Perfect hostel!! With an on-premise bar and restaurant, comfortable beds and amenities, and 5 minute drive to Sugarbush! I stayed one night recently, after skiing Killington and Sugarbush the next day. The owner Ryan is wonderful - accommodating and running an everything-you-need overnight stay. Highly recommended.

Google
Amazingly charming, beautiful fire place blue berry muffins and coffee on the house for breakfast Bar and Restuarant What else could you ask for, at the foot of Sugarbush access road as well. 100% recommendation, the owner is friendly and helpful

This was my first hostel experience and it set the bar high. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Can’t beat the location for a Sugarbush ski weekend. I’ll definitely be returning.

Google
Overall great stay. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, and reasonably priced for the area. No shuttle from the trail head, but we got a hitch pretty quickly. The restaurant was tasty, well priced for the portions, and the service was fabulous. Great beers too! Definitely an unplanned stop but totally needed and worth it.

Google
Wonderful little discovery on my trip, cruising the fabulous roads of Vermont on my motorcycle. Comfortable, full of character and a nice respite from the mundane “Day’s Inn” standard fare. A hostel for like-minded, at ease folk. Affordable, too ! Rest, dine, imbibe, read in coziness, then adventure out into the most spectacular scenery in New England. Nesting in a lovely valley, very near the adorable little town of Warren, not too far from the Falls. I totally enjoyed my brief stay. 👍🙏🌟

Google
It's a hostel. It's exactly what it should be and it couldn't be better. Ryan is great, the space is excellent, the location is primo and having the restaurant was really good.

Spent less than 24 hours here. It seems like it has been slow because I was surprised I was initially the only one there for the night. Coming from 2 hostels on this side of the US with more influx of guests, I was confused by why there were no signs on how to enter for check-in or a reminder of lobby hours. There was nothing in front saying guests should go to the back to enter but yet there are steps leading to a front door that I later found out is always locked. No instructions on how to locate the lobby in the email either. I stayed in a 8-bed dorm room above the restaurant and check-in office. The room faces the road so you'll hear road noise since the one window is left open for the portable air conditioner. There was another dorm room right behind. Light sleepers will need an earplug. The bathroom was very clean, colorful, and had modern, cute features. Other things to note: - Not sure there is a shuttle (common with other hostels in the region) - Not sure there are lockers - There are bedside lights by every bed and power outlets are on the bottom bunks only. - The dorm room had a ceiling fan and portable air conditioner - There was Body wash in the shower but no shampoo or conditioner. - There are 2 or 3 toilets and 1 shower upstairs in that building. - The kitchen fridge is cute but small in size for the number of beds. - There are 2 living/sitting rooms - There are some board games available - There is a restaurant on-site. - A brew of coffee is made every morning. - There was no stove to cook

Yelp
Spent one night at this hostel. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed. It is super clean and you really do have a lot of open space to not be concerned about using the restroom and enterin/exiting the bedrooms. The common areas are really comforting and nice to have conversations with other guests. The host is amazing! He is accessible always and really is a super nice guy!!! There's a restaurant and bar on property as well that has incredible food n drinks . Will recommend this place in a heartbeat and would stay again!

Sarah S.

Yelp
i got takeout so bear in mind this review only has to do w/ food rather than the other parts of the dining experience. i got the chicken and waffles. the chicken was well seasoned but pretty dry and the waffle was savory, so the maple syrup balanced it out well. as a born and raised vermonter, i definitely needed more maple syrup than they gave me (i'm sure if you were dining in you could definitely get extra though). good quality syrup. i needed about double the amount of syrup and the chicken was still dry. it tasted pretty good though. i have been here previously and got the grilled chicken sandwich (takeout as well) which i thought was VERY good, so i think it really varies by menu item.

Yelp
Awesome service Awesome food Awesome people And such a true diamond in mountains. And is easy to get in n out of. I recommend trying their wings

Yelp
Some friends invited me to brunch, we sat outside on the deck but inside was nice. The owner Ryan is such a nice guy and talked with us ; I asked to hear more about the hostel. The bartender today wasn't very friendly but the Bloody Mary was good, it just took way too long to get a drink before brunch. The food was good and it came out pretty quickly, I had the Salmon Benedict and hash browns, it was delicious!!! The waiter was good and friendly, I would definitely go back. I would have given this 5 stars if it wasn't for the bartender.

Yelp
Love this Hostel. Among my favorite in the country, and I have been to quite a few. The area is beautiful, it's next to a bigtime ski resort and nearby waterfalls and within an hour drive of lots of incredible hikes and scenery. Full cocktail bar with very friendly and experienced bartenders and a full kitchen with great food. Everyone who works is is super welcoming and great to talk to. Good wifi as well, easy parking, easy check-in. VERY comfortable beds. Complimentary coffee as well as additional snacks for sale in the common area.

Jon M.

Yelp
Solid, delicious spot on a cold night. International vibe and interesting meads, beers, drinks etc.

Tom I.

Yelp
Justin's cocktails are beyond amazing! We brought a friend from Sweden there--he had brought a cocktail recipe with him. Justin whipped it up like he'd been making it for years. Always a fun experience.

Betty Y.

Yelp
Had the best Elk burger ever! The chef Colby is really friendly and makes the most amazing burgers. The owner of the hostel, Giles is super chill. I'd definitely stay here again. Beds are comfortable and down blankets are nice. Affordable and close to Sugarbush.

Lauren F.

Yelp
We came for a quick bite and drinks. First the cocktail menu is really thoughtful and creative. You won't find this much in MRV. Also the wine list is carefully curated by the talented bartender. You will find very interesting wines that rotate often so be sure to check the specials. The menu isn't vast but it is done well and they have specials all the time. They are working hard and are even open on Mondays.

Katrina K.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Delicious burger and pretzel great drinks great atmosphere! Would definitely go back!

Rebecca W.

Yelp
We visited with friends on Friday evening and The Hostel (especially Liz) proved the warmest welcome to VT for our weekend! The Hostel's team was warm and accommodating, the cocktails vibrant and tasty, and the food fresh and delicious. Half fries/ salad for a side and the Aviation stood out! We are looking forward to returning - thanks for a memorable night!

Ryan K.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere with great people. Best drinks around, and food is always really consistent. Preferred stop in the MRV

Yelp
We had the chance to enjoy the tap selection at Hostel Tevere. This is a novel, unique location and it was our pleasure to get to know some of the staff and ownership. We can't wait to visit again.

Grey C.

Yelp
My uncle and I stopped here while we were on our way to my grampy's house, we were super hungry and needed a place to stop and eat, great burgers and chili, and they had a life-changing Shirley temple. Overall, great staff, nice atmosphere, and amazing food and drink.

David S.

Yelp
Wow! This place isn't big and doesn't look like much on the outside but the food is AMAZING and the service is superb. Basic bar food but done at an exceptional level. I recommend in particular the wings and the truffle fries. This place has heart and will fill your belly!

Yelp
Good hostel overall but somewhat different than most other hostels I have stayed at over the years. The good: 1. Location, location, location! About 10-15 minutes from Sugarbush and Mad River Glen in the winter. And close to a few 4000 footers in the summer. 2. Amazing beer in the bar. One of the few places anywhere to serve Lawsons Liquids on tap 3. Nice clean dorm style rooms 4. Pretty cheap. Was $40 a night on Presidents Day weekend. The not so good: 1. No kitchen! Not even a fridge and microwave. And they only serve burgers on weekends. So if you wanted to save money on eating out you are out of luck. Though they do have coffee and pastries each morning 2. The noise. They have bands on weekends so if you are a light sleeper you'll be up until midnight when they seem to stop. But as with any hostel some guy snoring will probably be keeping you up anyway :) 3. Only one shower for the whole place So a good spot overall. My advice is ask for a bunk as far away from the bar as possible to lessen the band noise.

Ben P.

Yelp
Our friends raved about these burgers so we had to check it out. The atmosphere is cool inside the hostel and the menu looked great, plus they have a nice draft list. The burgers definitely didn't it disappoint, absolutely worth trying the food here.

Al R.

Yelp
Exceptional value, food, vibes, beer, and hospitality. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The beer selection is great. The beds are comfy and clean. We will be back for sure.

Brian G.

Yelp
Stopped in this evening and had a great meal and a great time. I had a Philly steak and cheese sub and salad. My spouse had the chicken skewers with peanut sauce and the Mac-n-cheese. We both enjoyed the food and the bartender was pleasant to talk with.

Megan M.

Yelp
Discovered Hostel Tevere while on a search for a good salad the other night - I was not let down. Although I am not vegetarian, I opted for the bean burger and it was great! Crispy on the outside while not dry on the inside, yum. Easy takeout process and cute to see the inside briefly. Hope to return and dine in once the pandemic is over.

M J.

Yelp
Sadly, they are no longer a dining destination - only serving burgers and only on Thursdays. Bar is open several nights.

Doug R.

Yelp
I, we, love the mad burger. Order at the bar and food arrives in less than 15 minutes. Great beer rotations and they will give you a taste if you're unsure. Love this place and to the other reviews who barked about the rustic points miss the greater appeal and should stick to the resort. Great food, great beer, so good.

Daniel F.

Yelp
Really friendly hosts and comfortable accommodations. A quiet place on weeknights and you'll often have your own room!

Jamie D.

Yelp
First time in a Warren Vt, and we ate here two nights in a row. Food, bar and service are great! The ghost story folk music on Sunday night was a unique treat! Didn't stay in the hostel but it looks nice.

Yelp
On the spur of the moment, I drove up from Brooklyn NYC for a solo Vermont ski weekend. After poking around for a place to stay, I stumbled upon the Hostel Tevere -- which turned out to be an absolute perfect fit for me. First off, it is super close to Mad River Glen, which is definitely one of my favorite places to hit the slopes. If you're a snowboarder, then Sugarbush is also within a 10-15 minute drive. And besides, the Mad River Valley is one of the most scenic areas in all of Vermont, so why not stay there? Second, the food is solid. I had their delicious french toast each morning and also gladly feasted on their hearty dinner fair each night. It isn't gourmet, but it is simple, filling stuff that will keep you happy. Third, the bar scene is one of the best I've seen in the Mad River Valley. A solid group of locals effortlessly mix-in with the people staying at the hostel, and as a solo traveler it was definitely nice to have plenty of people to talk and hang out with. Fourth, the bunk beds are super comfortable and the rooms are very clean. And after spending an evening drinking beer in the bar, it was super nice to simply head upstairs to bed then have to get in my car and drive elsewhere on icy/snowy roads. The hostel definitely isn't a place for a romantic ski weekend with your partner, but if you're driving up with a few other ski bums who just want to ski and drink beer afterwards with some chill locals, there really is no better place to stay. Five stars!

Yelp
The boyfriend and I spent xmas week right next door at the Powderhound Condos so Hostel Tevere was our local for a few days and it was a great one. Like many bars in the area, the beer selection is really fucking good (it's a Heady Topper source). I'm currently in love with Lawson's Sip of Sunshine and they had it on tap so it was going to be hard for me not to enjoy the place after that. When we came in one night and I wanted wine, I was surprised to find that I really liked the white the bartender (who was super nice) poured for me. He didn't have much of a red selection, but the white was so good I'll forgive them. The best part of this bar, though, is the availability of both foosball and darts. There are two dart boards and darts hanging out in the main room but if you want a nicer set you should check with the bartender and be nice- much better quality darts. It appears that they don't do food anymore, but they did have a French bulldog running around at one point which is much better than food. The Hostel is also one of the pickup places for the local free bus which was also super convenient. So even if you aren't staying there or right next door feel free to get your drink on, call the bus driver, and get a free ride home.

Yelp
Two years running, Hostel Tevere has been a bigger excitement factor for me than the actual reason for being in Vermont for the weekend (beer fest!). I found them last year online and my group took the Hostel plunge. Having stayed at a few hostels around the country, my expectations were low and surpassed immediately. I tell everyone about this place and absolutely adore Giles and Sara! Accomodations: Think ikea dorm room. Very clean, wood floors, thick steel bunk beds and interesting light fixtures. I won't go much more into it as this is the restaurant review, but I think it is a big selling point that you can eat, drink, and sleep comfortably among friends when out of town. Food: I've only enjoyed breakfast here, lucky me. There is a chalkboard of the fresh ingredients for omelets and specials for the day and a constant supply of delicious local coffee. I usually opt for the omelet, the VT goat cheese is killer. last time they had roasted tomatoes, delicious! I've also nibbled on other's stuffed french toast, which has a frosted flake coating and worth the calories. Drink: Beer! Two taps of local micro brews, from Lawson's to Trapp and Trout Brook. The cocktails Giles mixes up are bomb.com, the bloody mary will cure what ails ya in the morning.

Yelp
Had a great meal with friends in February- meant to review it then. Place was clean and bar had great service - no attitude anymore! Food is basic burgers, chicken sandwich, etc. but nicely done, different spin, and sourced locally. Tap choices remain among the best in the Valley! Ryan is making a good go of it and I really hope to find him still thriving after all this dam pandemic stuff is over!

Andy P.

Yelp
Was just there tonight all excited to just sit down and have a burger at the Mad Burger as I see restaurants turn over in this Valley all the time and was encouraged as this was a burger place down in Warren. A good friend told me this was going to be run by the Mad Taco folks and I was even more excited. Well I turned into the driveway, parked my car and knowing the winters here, no big deal for me , but maybe someone that is older or just has higher standards, the ice in the parking lot to get in was not even sanded, it was a death trap. Good luck on your liability policy. It was a disaster to get into the place. There was poor lighting, no clear door as to where you should enter but a zillion doors. I walked around the Hostel side to enter. Once in I made my way to the dining room past a bar with a few folks sitting and talking away to the bartender. There was no one to greet me and understood it was a slow night so thought I would get some great service. I sat for 20 minutes, nothing.. . I saw all kinds of Kenyons meat based burgers on the menu.. I sat and watched a man across from me eat a burger and salad, the waiter even came out and brought a doggie bag. He walked right by me twice. I could not have been more in a clear view of him. After 25 minutes, with zero cell service and no WiFi (they don't have the WiFi password clearly marked anywhere). I came home to sit and write this. Best of luck with your Hostel Burger whatever place, but in this day and age and the competitive nature of this Valley's restaurant scene, I don't think have to humble myself to ask for someone to serve me. I don't need my ass kissed, just a damn burger.

Chuck B.

Yelp
Hostel Tevere is still the reigning breakfast champ, i have slowly been making my way around the best spots in Seattle and nobody here is doing it as well as they are. Need to get to Vermont quickly!

Anne C.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years. Recently, the hostel changed owners and we are very pleased with new ownership. Hostel is clean, friendly and food is delicious. Highly recommend. Our children were very happy with menu choices and games to play while dining.

Will W.

Yelp
As far as Hostel's in Northern VT go my only experience had been Grampa Grunt's up near Jay. Probably worst experience ever. Hostel Tevere however was amazing. There is art everywhere and a great sense of style throughout. No tv but plenty of books. If you find yourself up there it's a great affordable place to sleep.

Sally H.

Yelp
The best burger in all of Vermont!! Go now and order one. It's a fun spot and if you get there early there are no issues finding a table or eating at the bar. The owners are always around and great. I have not stayed here, only eaten food after skiing.

Erin D.

Yelp
This place is not just a hostel and bar but a huge part of the heart of warren, VT. Clean and new sleeping accommodations in a great environment with chill hangout space and a great living room with a fireplace and a fosball table at the bar. They have awesome bands playing every weekend, including the great Russ and Ray of Soule Mounde on a regular basis. The owners are incredibly hospitable and the bar has a perfect ski town vibe. A must visit in the Mad River Valley.

barry g.

Yelp
Great burgers and felafel. Lots of local ingredients plus wide range of craft beers. Games for the kids and foosball and darts too!!!

Jake M.

Yelp
A great building with very cool clientelle and close to Sugarbush and MRG. HOWEVER... if you're not going to serve food you need to have a kitchen or at least a microwave available to your guests.. Otherwise a really nice hostel.

Jill R.

Yelp
Go there Thursday nights for THE BEST BURGER EVER. Awesome live music on weekends, always a great beer selection, plus this is the best awesome cheap lodging near Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. Oh, and the owners, Giles & Sarah, are the best.

Nic K.

Yelp
Food was sub par last night. experienced a salty udon broth, tasteless tuna burrito. The bruschetta was great as were the burgers. Our waiter was very nice but when it came time to pay you cannot split the tab due to their use of Square. We had a party of six and a hefty tab. We were told it was stated on the menu that you cannot split your bill but none of us noticed the small print. Would have helped to have the tab divided to begin with, and wish the waiter had told us- tried to figure it out with waiter after the fact. He was trying to work with our multiple three credit cards. But what made it worse was getting yelled at by the owner. Kind of ruined the whole night for us and we had three out of town guests. This is our neighborhood joint so we want to like it and support it. But left with a bad taste in our mouth. Won't be going back.

Sean S.

Yelp
When my wife told me we were staying at a hostel I was very skeptical. We arrived late and went right to bed. The next morning we woke up and had breakfast with our friends. I am not lying when I say this was one of the best meals I have ever had. It is run by a guy and his fiancé. They do everything. There were 7 of us and we all kept saying "you have to try mine." The whole experience was outstanding. We felt like a guest in someones home. Not another name at a hotel. Downstairs there is a bar. It was like a local bar. Not some place that you felt out of place. We will definitely be coming back. Not because we need to come to Vermont, but because this place was so amazing. There is a mountain close by. Coming back to go snowboarding.

Carina K.

Yelp
Perhaps the most delicious french toast of my breakfast-food-obsessed life... The honey butter is pretty fantastic as well... The place has a great ambiance. Filled with great art and run by great people. Not to mention the price can't be beat!

Arianna S.

Yelp
The name threw me off....but what a cool place. The owners are supernice. We only came for a few beers with friends, but its definatley worth a stop in if your at Sugarbush. Ask for a tour of the house, the decorations in each room alone are worth it.

Gen S.

Yelp
Extremely dissapointed!!! We went excited from hearing good things, but when we got there it took 5 min for someone to even greet us.. 10 min for someone to see if we wanted to start with a drink.. and then over 40 min for our food which wasn't even cooked! The fingerlings were raw and the pancakes uncooked. When we told the waitress they weren't done she said that's the way we cook them here!! Really?! The waitresses were beyond rude! Ill never go here again!

Joshua F.

Yelp
This place is unreal - myself and four buddies came to ski having heard nothing about this place. We anticipated we would have to go out to find some nightlife fun, little did we know this spot was best of all. Giles was welcoming with open arms - we proceeded to drink them out of their stock of Heady Topper's and play all of the board games with the rest of the hostel patrons. The end of the night (early morning) was capped off with a soak in the hot tub. Great affordable accommodations (what you'd expect out of a hostel - dorm style living, perfect for the social financially conscious skier) full bar, amazing food (when they are serving) all run and surrounded by great people. Do yourself a favor and check them out!

Robert M.

Yelp
We stopped in at 12:55 on a Sunday for the brunch (didn't realize it was only to 1 PM) but the staff were very accommodating. My breakfast burrito was one of the best ones I've ever had, and my wife';s pancakes were full of fresh blueberries and equally scrumptious. A must go to again!

Craig S.

Yelp
This is a great place to have a local beer and hang with locals and visitors. Kids had a great time too playing foosball and hanging in the lounge area. Go for the beers and atmosphere! Not the food...which is very limited.

Tom T.

Yelp
Love the hostel. The food rocks and so do the owners Giles and Sarah!!! The steak and cheese is addictive. Good place to see a variety of music as well

Laura O.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere. Positive, fun, and laid back. Friendly people all around. The owners are great! We had sushi on Thursday and breakfast which were both really good. Looking forward to our next visit to VT and hostel tevere!

Becky C.

Yelp
Let's start with the good stuff, because there's a lot of it. Hostel Tevere is beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming, clean, and in a great location. But when we stayed there last weekend, there were two incredibly late nights of very loud music from the bar downstairs, making it very difficult to sleep until 2-3am, not what you want before days of being in the outdoors. Saying that, the bar is cool, and a nice addition to the hostel. But if sleep is really important to you, you might want to check what's on that weekend before committing to a stay there.
