Amazing Stay at Upperlink Hostel in Ghent! I had an incredible experience at Upperlink Hostel in Ghent. From start to finish, everything was perfect. The cleanliness of the hostel was exceptional, with every corner spotless and well-maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile to make sure guests were comfortable and happy. What really stood out to me were the thoughtful details throughout the hostel. From the cozy atmosphere to the well-designed spaces, it felt like a home away from home. The common areas were inviting, perfect for meeting other travelers or simply relaxing after a day of exploring the city. The location was also ideal, situated in a peaceful yet central part of Ghent, making it easy to access major attractions, shops, and restaurants. The rooms were comfortable and offered plenty of privacy, with cozy beds and ample space for personal belongings. The hostel also had great facilities, including a fully equipped kitchen, free Wi-Fi, and a lovely outdoor terrace to enjoy the fresh air. Overall, my stay at Upperlink Hostel was an unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ghent. Whether you're a solo traveler or with friends, this hostel offers everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

Wonderful location and architecture, authentic interior as well, central, fantastic view at the old town, nice dorms and bathrooms, good vibes, great staff and housekeeping! And one of the best kitchens I found in a hostel so far! The only small downside: They charge a little for luggage storage (in lockers)

I would highly recommend this place! The location is great and the accommodations are nice. I lost my phone and the staff at the hostel was extremely nice and spent over an hour helping me look for it.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at. Well organized and thought out layout of amenities, plenty of bathrooms/showers, and the gender-neutral approach was a nice touch!

What an odd hostel. I have stayed in over 90 hostels around the world, and this is one of the strangest. You have to pay to store your luggage prior to check in time. I paid 2 Euros to store my luggage in the self serve kiosk. Then the dorm itself has some of the smallest lockers of any dorm even though there is enough space. They charged 7.50 Euros for breakfast which is the highest breakfast charge I have ever encountered in a hostel. The keycard is all on your phone where you swipe a tab to open the bedroom and the stairwell. So if your phone has no battery, you aren't getting in. The towel was a 3.50 Euro charge. I decided not to shower as I was staying for one night. One person was having night terrors for two hours in my room. They were staying in the room with a friend and started talking at 4:30am. There were also multiple families and youth groups staying in the hostel which can be common in Central Europe. People in my room were entering and exiting the room every 20 minutes from midnight until 7am. The toilet was on a completely different floor with a small sink for everyone to share. The top floor has showers. You have to put your own linen too. One of the rare times I didn't befriend anyone in a hostel. Between the bizarre layout, the bizarre guests, youth groups, tiny lockers, and money grabbing at any opportunity, no physical keycard, I am never staying here again. The bed does have a plug in outlet, and I was offered to switch beds after I reported the guest with night terrors.

Uppelink Hotel is a charming and historic hostel located in the heart of Ghent, Belgium. Overlooking the beautiful canals, it offers stunning views and a cozy atmosphere for travelers. The hotel provides a mix of private rooms and dormitories, making it ideal for solo travelers, couples, and groups. Guests love the friendly staff, social vibe, and opportunities to meet fellow travelers. Plus, its central location makes exploring Ghent’s historic sites, bars, and restaurants easy. With a well-equipped kitchen, a lively bar, and free walking tours, Uppelink Hotel is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers looking for a unique stay. Would you like me to highlight anything specific?

I can't recommend this hostel enough. I only stayed there one night and wished I could stay longer. ||Just a few reasons why I love it so much:||- the building is gorgeous, it is excellent value for money, the digital key works perfectly, the bathrooms/showers are modern and lovely, the staff are kind and helpful, the luggage storage lockers work well, the hot drinks are very cheap and nice, the views are excellent, the in-room lockers work well, there are vending machines for small things/snacks you might need.. There are free walking tours starting outside...||I wouldn't say the beds are amazingly comfortable but as comfortable as you can expect in an ordinary hostel. I could write more but I think I gave an impression of why this place is ideal for a short stay in Ghent. I just need an excuse to go back now :)

Great hostel in a beautiful old building looking over the centre of Ghent. The rooms, bathrooms and kitchen were always spotless whenever I went in. The real highlight were the staff. Thibaut and everyone else were always friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. I'd definitely recommend a stay here.

Yelp
My favorite hostel to date! :D Staff was welcoming and informative upon check-in, not to forget that they were fluent in, like, four different languages. Incredible! The hostel was inside of a really charming, antique-like building, which used to function as a restaurant, even a family house, at several points in time. Also located right in the center of Ghent, which was convenient. Rooms were spacious, but quite cold; I'm don't think that heating was turned on? Also found it an inconvenience that the showers were on the second floor (I stayed on the first), and so I had to climb up and down for showers. Then again, there wouldn't have been space to add showers on the first floor, anyway, as the building was quite narrow. Breakfast was included, and pretty good. Tons of sweet stuff, though! Overall, a pleasant stay in one of my favorite cities to visit. Recommended!

Yelp
Best hostel experience ever! Amazing value, Amazing location and Amazing staff... I really enjoyed my stay here, in fact, I'd even extended my stay longer than I was originally planning. 1st night / Dorm Room Great spacious room, 6 bed room but it was very airy and spacious. Views were of the finest in Gent, all for €23 for the night. Bed was clean, free locker available in room and then shared bathroom / showers. 2nd & 3rd night / Private Room for 2. Great room, spacious, clean and transferring room was made hassle free. My hubby was joining me for the stay and they accommodated the room transfer with such ease. Told to leave everything on my bed, the staff seen to it that everything was moved into the new room. There was an initial double booking mixup but these guys were prompt in contacting before I arrived, committed to a solution , we're so apologetic and threw in a beer on the house when I checked in... These things happen and how a business deals with it is what really matters.

Yelp
I've been traveling Europe for 30+ days now, so I think I have a good feel for hostels now. This one did not fail to impress. Not perfect, but it's a great place to stay and will help you enjoy your time in Gent. First off, the employees are very friendly. In particular, Marieke is very beautiful and welcoming and is mostly why I'd give this place 5 stars and not 4. Breakfast is free, very basic, but free. You get what you pay for. Free coffee til 11am is the highlight. They also have a great beer selection, I recommend the Tripel beers while in Belgium. High ABV, but not bitter at all! 1st floor bathroom smells like death, I'd opt for the bathroom on the top floor instead. Showers are nice, they actually have hot water unlike other hostels we stayed at. A little mold growing on the ceilings, but I'm sure they know that . We had an incident where someone staying in our room puked all over his bed and himself, and since he wasn't nice enough to clean it up himself, the staff at Uppelink cleaned it up for him and made our room somewhat pleasant again lol.

Yelp
Where do I start? As soon as we walked in the door, we were cheerfully greeted by Camille and she immediately made us feel like we were home. Always had a warm smile and helps everyone, speaks countless languages. The hostel was very clean and well run. And finally, it's location, location, location and Uppelink is located right near to everything. If you are sensitive to a little noise, take earplugs. I can't say enough good things about Uppelink.

Yelp
Absolute horrible staff and manager with this hostel. I told them I had a theft when I arrived from another country and did not feel safe leaving expensive items in the room with strangers after they confirmed they cannot guarantee safety I asked for a simple refund and said I would go to a hotel. This is over like 54 USD and they acted like it was money to keep their power bill on? I just could not believe the Flemish arrogance with the manager who seriously acted like the money would break them to refund it. I am having my bank deal with it now which they always do and always will. I highly suggest this hostel gets some new customer service oriented staff as this was just riduclous. Then they tried to come back and say confidentially we never have thefts? I was like so now you're reversing your earlier comment that you can guarantee safety? Again it made no sense! Trust me they now have hotels that are affordable! Stop staying at these gross, dirty, nasty, trashy hostels! Upgrade your lives to privacy and class with a hotel room of your own!
