We stayed in Freedom Hostel for 4 nights and had a fantastic time. We felt like part of the family and would definitely recommend staying here.||||The hostel is situated in the old slaves quarters, a 5 to 10 minute walk to the main square. It is located in an old building but has recently been converted (in fact they are still finishing off some of the rooms). This means that the place is clean and the beds are very comfortable. Most rooms have an ensuite though there are some shared bathrooms too if needed. The only downside is the cockerel next door that crows at random points throughout the night.||||Breakfast was good with a variety of fruit and amazing cakes along with bread, ham and cheese. One evening, Papa made a group of us a load of pizzas for a fraction of the cost of eating in a restaurant.||||The service we received was exceptional. Mama and Papa were keen to show us their town and the surrounding area. They were able to explain the history of the town in great detail, pass on tips of places to visit, things to see and even organised a group of us to visit the Minas do Ouro gold mine a short bus ride away, passing on the commission to us to make it cheaper.||||We really felt like part of their family like no other hostel we have stayed in and were sad to leave.
