Booked this place because due to some other big event all other hotels/capsules were already full 2 months in advance, now I understand why this wasn't. Will not stay again unless it's an emergency.
I paid around 6000 yen, which is the price of a business hotel in Nagoya under normal circumstances (I come to Nagoya quite often so I know).
Pros:
- toilets and showers were clean (however the shower room part and the bottom of the shower have a bit of mold so it might concern some people)
- staff was ok (I speak Japanese though so no idea about other languages)
- common room with free tea/coffee where you can also eat
- 99% of female guests were very polite and considerate (I was on the women only floor)
- wi-fi works
-great location near Shinkansen/bus station
Cons:
- over 6000 yen for a night and still everything is extra (towels, slippers, pajama, most amenities). Been to a bunch of capsules all over Japan and never had to pay for ALL these things
- non existent security for your luggage. All left in a common area everyone can access during the day and you also have to pay extra to lock it with the flimsiest of locks. All other places I've been to had some form of lockers. Very tiny safe in your capsule, you gotta pay a deposit for a bigger safe.
- luggage space for everyone is like two meters per two and since there is also absolutely no space to open your luggage where the capsules are, you have to line up and wait to do anything with your luggage. Some people have no common sense and main character syndrome and will do their best to get in everyone's way.
- I'm allergic to dust which makes me a very good dust detector. Woke up with a runny nose, meaning there's dust in the capsule even if you can't see it (nose completely cleared as soon as I left). Had to leave early cos I started not being able to breathe. Not surprised since the common room has no windows so no air circulation (no, that small fan won't do anything). For context this happened to me twice at hotels in the last 12 years, and the other time I could at least open a window.
- only two showers and toilets for more than 20 people so always have to line up for something (women only floor)
- shoes left in a tray with your capsule number, anyone can take them as no one checks(once again, never saw this, lockers are common)
- - no security during daytime. Anyone can walk in the hotel, elevator, all floors. Only locked at night.
- capsule has the flimsiest walls and just a curtain as door so you can hear EVERYTHING all the time. Additionally, door to elevator/common area is unlocked some time at 5/6 and kept open after that so then you get to hear all the luggage noises and noises from the bathroom(you can literally clearly hear the hair dryer in the bathrooms all the way to the middle capsules). Ofc people also come and go past 11 PM and you can hear every single noise in the capsule even if people are trying to be quiet, so unless you're the heaviest of sleepers expect to be woken up again and again even with earplugs.
- Fire hazard. Very little space to walk among capsules because of the stairs.
Other points:
-Crowded check in at 3 PM, expect a wait of around 10-15 mins
