Wonderful place to stay. We had a room with twin beds and our own shower and toilet. There is so much history in the area. The staff was very pleasant. We added on breakfast - cereal, toast, juice, yogurt, coffee and tea.

The hostel is very well located, just about a 10-minute walk from the train station and only a few minutes from the castle and historic center. We had a private room for three with its own bathroom — clean, bright, comfortable, and well equipped. The only downside was the wooden floor that creaked all the time. We highly recommend it for a short stay in Stirling. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it looked very clean and well equipped.

Pros: It was walkable from the train station although challenging to find if following Google since Google said to turn from Baker onto Spittal street, but you could just turn straight onto Spittal before getting to Baker, or you could turn from Baker onto Bow street as there was no sign for Spittal while on Baker.||Once near the area there are the blue and white hostelling signs to make it easier to find. It's walkable to the castle and Smith art museum.||This hostel exudes rustic charm. From my window I could see an ivy-covered wall and stone turrets of the old jail. I could also see dilapidated headstones from the old cemetery which is a bit creepy.||The hostel staff are amazingly friendly! ||There is a shared kitchen.||Although they close the hostel for cleaning during the day, you can buzz the ringer to drop off or pick up luggage.||Cons: There is no locked luggage storage room, so if you're storing luggage you'll be leaving it in the lobby under the stairs.

There is no way this is a four star hotel. It’s a youth stay away camp lodging. It’s filthy, smelly, and should be investigated by the health department. The windows are rotting out of their frames, and can’t be opened due to swollen sills — the water damage is so extensive. There’s an alarm that goes off if you open the room door for more than three seconds. The showers are stainless steel. The wall to wall carpet is coming up and god knows what’s underneath. There are holes in the walls. Did I mention the whole place smells like high schoolers’ feet? The water in the taps is labeled undrinkable. There was half a cup of tea in our room when we arrived, and the desk attendant said “oh yeah, that happens sometimes.” The views are beautiful. Shame the interior should be condemned.

We booked a 2 night stay at the Stirling Youth Hostel. This was our third hostel during our Scotland vacation. We had a private double room with 2 single beds and private toilet and shower. It was very basic as expected. Unfortunately during the night a water leak occurred. I didn't realize this until I went to the bathroom around 5 a.m. and my socks walked in soaking wet carpet. I will attach photos to this review. We collected our belongings immediately and found an employee once breakfast was opened. We showed them pictures of our room and told them we needed to vacate our room and to please refund us for the 2 nights we had booked. We were told they had no authority to help us so we asked for the managers contact information so we could contact him directly. It's been 2 weeks since this incident and we have repeatdly tried to contact him and the Scottish Hostel Group at their contact numbers but no one has bothered to answer us or contact us yet. ALSO the water in the room in not for drinking.

A great welcome by the staff who are regularly at the reception during core hours. The kitchen is brilliant and exceptionally well-equipped; the adjoining lounge is homely. The room was a little at the expensive end although cheap for Stirling; the bed was exceptionally narrow and not that comfortable. I could not switch off the radiator despite numerous attempts. The toilet had not been cleaned properly and there was a strong scent of urine in there. Nice view of the jail.

A great place to lie down. Rooms are clean. Good value for lodging. They have breakfast if you are interested. Our room had 1 bed, shower and toilet room. Water in room is not potable, but they have sink and mirror in the room for washing up. Great view of Stirling. A full kitchen to use and lounge to sit, eat and or play games or read. I would return as location is fantastic and price won’t break the bank. They have free wifi. Looks to be about 4-6 parking spaces.

We stayed in three Hostelling Scotland locations and this was by far our favorite! The views over Stirling were gorgeous and staff were extremely friendly. A perfect location to access both the castle and town. We also enjoyed the wee breakfast.
