Our experience at Hosteria Alicina was a real emotional rollercoaster. The first time we dined here, we were overjoyed. Everything was perfect – the beautiful setting, the warm and professional staff, the cozy atmosphere, and above all, the food, which was simply outstanding. We were so impressed that we immediately asked if we should reserve a table for Thursday, the day before our departure. The waiter assured us that in September this would not be necessary. So, on Thursday we drove an hour to return for what we hoped would be a memorable farewell dinner – only to find the restaurant closed. Thursday, it turned out, is their closing day. We were deeply disappointed, especially because we had kept this visit as the highlight of our trip before heading home. We believe the waiter may have misunderstood us, but in that case, she should have clarified. Our first visit deserves 5 stars without hesitation. Unfortunately, the second “experience” was a true letdown. That leaves us with 3 stars overall. Such a pity, because the food here truly is exquisite.

When we came, without a reservation, and with one friend using a wheelchair, they brought out a ramp so we could get in. There are two steps up from the street level to the patio, and a third one into the interior of the restaurant. Service was attentive but unobtrusive-- the best kind of Italian service. Marina view. Food, wine, and amari were all excellent.

One of my worst restaurant experiences, partly because I never received my food. We tried to get help from the few waiters who glanced in our direction. When the rest of the group had finished their main course, we asked for the bill. A plus for the establishment: we were not charged for the courses never received. A minus: we received no apology or even a mentioning of the disaster. As for the food, I had only a starter but that was almost ok. The rest of the group appeared to enjoy parts of their servings, although I have never seen the kids in our group so uninterested in finishing a pasta dish.

We had an awful experience!! I rarely think it’s worth writing a review, but this is close to comical. Ambiance is not bad, you’re on the water overlooking the harbor - but the trash cans right next to the deck is not great. It’s Italy and you gotta love the local vibe but the bees 🐝 it brings was a nuisance for everyone. All patrons were fighting them off and it almost became funny. This would all have been bearable if it wasn’t for the fact the food was really terrible. We had two pasta seafood dishes and both had the stench of rancid shellfish. We had all but one bite and knew eating more would make us sick. We will see… Oh - and it may seem silly to say this but one of the dishes had a big black hair on top. Seriously… you can’t make this up. They took all our food away untouched and never asked the obvious question — if everything was ok. Which may indicate they’re used to bringing full plates of food back to the kitchen. So - maybe just a bad night - but I’d stay clear of this place if I were you. ** upon reading owners response: Dear owner. Thank you for your response. I tried to talk to the manager yesterday but no one was around when I paid our bill. Maybe I should clarify as I find your reply totally inaccurate. How you respond to your customers giving you feedback is up to you, but let’s set the record straight; 1. Our wonderful hotel called your restaurant to see if we could get a later reservation, and when you said that was not possible - we happily obliged and arrived on time. We did not just do a “no show” as that would not have been fair to you. 2. You are correct in that we did politely ask the waiter for a different table when we arrived at 19:30 as the restaurant was empty and we - a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids ages 10-14) were seated next to a set of garbage cans with wasps swirling. Our waiter said he would check, but never got back to us with an answer so we proceeded with our meal at that table. 3. We were nothing but polite to our waiter no issue with him - and your comment about ripping the wine menu off his hands is a lie. Once we had ordered food he took all the menus - I asked for the wine menu back as we had yet to order wine with our food… I do not wish to engage in a back and forth. I am simply sharing our experience - which is what reviews are for. Hopefully our experience was a one off, and you continue to thrive - I would want nothing more for you and your restaurant. If there is anything you can take from this customer experience, then great. If you choose not to - thats your call. I still wish you and your business nothing but prosperity and happy customers.

Two members of our party of 7 ordered the tempura. It tasted of rancid oil and we were both feeling unwell 4 hours later. The other dishes at our table were mediocre at best and some were cold. Our entrees arrived after our main courses. We ordered the ‘house white’ and, when we received the bill, they had given us a 29 euro bottle of wine ( not what we expected in Italy where we have been ordering cheap and delicious house wine at every meal). All together a disappointing and overpriced experience.

Service was terrible. Ordered wine and beer. Wine served - beer took 20 mins to bring a bottle. Ordered 3 meals only received 2 and had to keep trying to get their attention. Waiters are pleasant but overall service shocking

The worst food I’ve ever had in Italy. — All in all, the food is extremely bland, cooked by amateurs, and extremely overpriced relative to the quality. — The tempura was extremely oily it gave me a bad stomach ache. — The cod was initially undercooked and had to be sent back, after which it tasted extremely bland. — The calamari pasta was too al dente. — Gnocchi was too overcooked. — Roasted potatoes were completely bland and too oily. — All in all, a complete failure and disaster.

Nice spot to sit, nice waitstaff, but the food was the most average we’ve had in Italy. Hot dishes arrived cold, some tasted of old oil. Really not worth it.
