Google
Lovely place, interesting décor, the food was fantastic (I can totally recommend the chile en nogada, my vegetarian girlfriend had the fajitas de setas). The staff were really friendly, helped translate/understand the menu, and there was even a pianist :)

Google
Good food, the Chile nogada which is the specialty was huge!. Not spicy it's covered in a creamy nut sauce and sprinkled with Granada seeds. Nice atmosphere

I went early in the day on a Monday so I pretty much had the place to myself. Like so many first time patrons, I ate the chile en nogada. It was very rich, with a nice balance of sweet and savory!

Google
I went for thr chili en nogada, as it made the top.10.list. I was a bit disappointed. The place is a typical old school mexican spot you would find anywhere in centro, and the food was good but not top 10 good. For me, it's on of those places if you happen to be stuck in a rain storm, sure, stop in and have a bite. It's not a destination restaurant. The chile en nogada: the nogada was great, the chile was really lacking on the stuffing.

Had Sunday brunch there. There was live music, and several couples were celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. People were singing and dancing. Great vibe! Love Mexico!

Yelp
Stayed 8 days in Mexico city. Ate all 24 meals at restaurants. This was the worst meal. Given the location, price and reputation I was dismayed how bad the lunch was. Recommended to me by a life long resident. I had faith in her judgement, not anymore. Fish ceviche had tart / salty, preserved tasting meat and there was mackerel in the cube pieces (obviously canned). The paella was god awful. Overcooked to death. Chewy seafood. A dead clam that was still sealed shut, potential botulism anyone? Gloppy rice with awful canned tasting seasonings. Dining room is pure 1950's era decor. So are your fellow diners. This place serves ancient recipes to equally ancient clientele. A trio of 80+ year old musicians started playing the hits from My Fair Lady and the Sound of Music which cements the fact that this place is a total time warp from 60 years ago, and not in a good way. Don't get your hackles up by my criticism. I'm 67 years old and qualified to render this qualified opinion. Avoid.

Yelp
My air bnb was around the way and my flight landed before check-in. So ya girl was very hungry! A quick yelp search revealed this spot only 5 minutes away. When i walked in with my luggage, the greeter, Christina, was worried that i thought this was a hostel and i was looking for a room. I assured her that im here to eat lol! The people are nice with my limited amount of spanish. I ordered a stuffed chile that had this sweet creamy sauce topped with pomegranate seeds. I complemented this chile with black bean quesadillas and nopales salad. Enrique one of the floor managers was so nice to me and even let me try a meZcal that he said only g's drink. This mezcal waa scrong. I also had a very nice mint julep drink that smelled of lovely mint. Enrique was kind enough to recommend spots for me to visit while i was here!

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here! The building is an old colonial one I think. It is located downtown Mexico City. It has 2 floors and both are lovely. There's also music played on piano and mexican art on the walls. Decor says Mexico all over in a nice way :) Enfrijoladas are the best as well as mexican milk chocolate! Of course they have a lot of traditional mexican dishes. They all are wonderfully tasty Service was very nice and courteous. There is no parking but there's a public parking lot just in front it.

Yelp
I was super excited to bring my grandma here as a last lunch before I headed home. We took the metro bus and it left us super close to the entrance. From what I had read, the food was supposed to be amazing. This is one of a few restaurants that have chiles en nogada year round. It's a specialty dish that is mainly served on 5 de mayo. If you plan to eat here I recommend you to come on a Sunday. The area is a lot safer since most of the shops are closed. I was super excited to eat at the brunch buffet. It's about $10 per person which is a giant discount from the restaurants regular prices. The food liked like it was delicious, sadly about 3 hours before we got there. I would have liked there to be signs telling you what the food was. Regional food can be a little confusing. To add on that, I don't eat beef. A lot of the food was cold or gone. There was a nice lady making home made quesadillas. I told the servers that the food was cold, they offered me a microwave. Let's just say I wasn't too happy. My granny liked that there was a house band with a singer. For my $10 I would have been a lot happier eating at a taco stand.

Yelp
Having a Mexico background I am a big critic of Mexican food. For those of you not familiar with Mexican food, it's common to see the traditional dishes such as enchiladas, beans, rice, chilaquiles, etc. But a typical Mexico City dish is Chile Nogado, a chili stuffed with ground beef and poblano sauce topped with pomegranate seeds. This restaurant was opened in the 1800s. This is a must have dish!!! This restaurant has the dish year long, but most restaurants will have the dish in September for Mexican Independence Day. The service is great and the building is absolutely beautiful.

Yelp
Good place to eat. Don't let the name fool you. I thought it was a hostel so I almost walked past...but I was too hungry so I took a chance. What a pleasant surprise. Very nice, very formal. Live music is a good touch. Prices were reasonable. Good place to get away from the hectic stuff outside!

Yelp
Classic traditional Mexican food in Mexico city. Nice friendly staff. Old historical ambiance. Dinner accompany with soothing piano playing with delicious Traditional Mexican dishes. Chile en Nogales was delicious, big portion, savory and sweet on the same plate. Soft Poblano chili with ground beef filling top with sweet white nut sauce and pomegranate. Arrachera steak is quite delicious. Big portion with beans, guacamole and chips. Came in almost in closing time but the service was superb. We never felt rushed at all. It was a nice place to try Traditional Mexican food.

Yelp
Tradiotiinal Mexico City food served by attentive and friendly staff. Offerings are prepared and served in a semicasual style and there is generally live traditional music, like bar piano and violin. Specialties include Escamoles, Chicharrones, Gusanos de Maguey...all are so incredibly delicios and some may say adventurous. Though don't be intimidated, there are also offerings like fish and steak that are delicious and more mainstream yet still seved with authentic gourmet flavor.

Yelp
This was a delightful place! The food was tasty, the decor and vibe was very pleasant, and we were sitting right in front of a lovely singer who performed for the restaurant. It was the perfect place for my family to rest after touring the city all day.

Yelp
One of our best experiences in Mexico City. We enjoyed the fine service, the elegant way the people serve you and entertain you with the romantic music, and even if you are not too hungry, the Hostería makes you feel like you are in another time in history. The menu it's amazing. We have to come back and try more of this magic Mexican cuisine.

Yelp
It was like stepping into another era. Lovely, old, classy! Scrumptious cuisine...flowing sangria. Worth a trip to Mex. city just for a meal here!

Yelp
Mmmm, I really enjoyed our food here! This was the first time my quesadillas were in a deep-fried batter more like a pancake than the usual tortilla. I was skeptical of the chiles en nogada because I just don't typically like big chili things. But these were sooo good! (If you like sweet sauce, because the nogada was definitely sweet.) We also had the pechuga ranchera en nata, which was a chicken breast smothered in a creamy and flavorful sauce. I went to Hosteria hungry, and I left very satisfied.

Yelp
Eating in this place is like visiting your grandmother. It is one of the oldest in the city. It has been open for centuries an as far as I remember the food has always been very good. Yes, now Mexico City has more innovative and more sophisticated places to enjoy Mexican food. However the Hostería is a tradition where you would be able to taste food that has been offered for decades if not centuries. Just like having a meal with your grandmother. Your meal here would be unpretentious but tasty. I visit at least once a year.

Yelp
We went when it wasn't busy so it lacked atmosphere. But food was flavourful and delicious.
