We stayed for two nights. I would give zero stars if not for some very helpful staff: Marlene on the front desk, and the bar staff. |The positives: 1. The location is tremendous, literally feet from the waves, with a sandy beach; we could see and hear the waves from our honeymoon suite. 2. The bar staff were very helpful and prompt. 3. We felt safe in the neighborhood as it is a gated community. 4. When we arrived 2 hours before check-in, the helpful desk clerk offered to store our luggage in her office, and then later she let us check into the room about 30 minutes early. 5. There's a nice outdoor shower to wash off the sand before going up to the room. 6. The air conditioner unit in the room was efficient.|The negatives: 1. Our patio door was stuck and would not open; it took them a full day to fix it, and only after we had reported it to the desk clerk three times. We paid for a room with a balcony but could not get to the balcony. 2. The room was clean but small and had no facilities: a coffee maker but no coffee provided, no bottled water; nowhere to set suitcases; a razor set and toothbrush set were available in the bathroom for a fee. 3. The TV volume control did not work. 4. Breakfast was not available; the desk clerk told us the chef did not show up. There wasn't even coffee in the lobby: we had to leave the hotel to get coffee and breakfast a third of a mile away. 5. Many of the drinks on the bar menu were out of stock for two days as they ran out of pineapple juice and other items. 6. The restaurant was very expensive: for example, $18 for a margarita, and $4 for a side of toast, which was a single slice of wonderbread. 7. When we woke up after the first night, there was a large roach in the closet, not quite dead. 8. The internet did not work in the room; this was never resolved after we let the desk clerk know. |We had booked directly with the hotel six months earlier, when the website showed that the room cost included breakfast, and that checkout was at noon. What we were not told meanwhile was that these terms had both changed, apparently, when new owners took over earlier this year. We arrived to find out that breakfast was not included, and checkout is at 11.|I do not recommend this hotel.

The name says it all...Hosteria. We stayed in an immaculate room, overlooking the beach, great water pressure, cool working ac, incredible home like service, delicious food in a gated community. Five stars 🌟! The only suggestion I would make is to bring extra towels and toiletries because although they're willing to give you extra it's not easy due to the housekeeping schedule. There is no room service so keep that in mind as well. The food at UVVA was incredible, the cook was this beautiful lady who cooked from the heart and I'll be missing her ceviche with homemade plantain chips until next time. I've never stayed at a Hostel/Hosteria but the experience was fantastic so we'll be back.

I would stay here again. Had to pay for water, no free water. Room was clean, nothing extravagant but nice. The older gentleman and lady at the front desk were very friendly and kind. Jon at the front desk was very rude. In fact, I had called the hotel about an issue and Jon kept on hanging the phone up and told me I couldn’t keep calling the hotel. If you call to book and he answers, ask for someone else, but he will pretend to be several people. Bar and restaurant opened up a little bit later than specified, but the service was outstanding. John the bartender was very friendly and went above and beyond. Everything was great other than my encounter with the disrespectful front desk guy.

The staff is so amazing! The server is so friendly and kind. The atmosphere is so friendly and definitely a tropical feel. The room was small but cozy and perfect for a 1-2 person trip. Everything is so close to the location and it’s in a gated community for my friend and I definitely felt safe traveling and staying here. |The free WiFi and connection was great too. |I love Puerto Rico

Three days after we checked out, the landlord accused us of damaging the TV and asked us to pay $169. We didn't even touch the TV. It's unreasonable. I have never encountered such a thing. I will never pay for other people's mistakes. It's terrible. There are ants all over the room. The sheets are very dirty. After the end, I found that my friend and I were covered with rashes.

Yelp
Encuentra otro lugar. Cualquier otro lugar.

Yelp
Best of all worlds: quiet yet close to all the action, beautiful, tranquil & authentic hotel away from tourist traps, yet right on the beach, waking distance from amazing restaurants, bars and shops, surrounded by locals and nature in a cool neighborhood. Real Puerto Rico experience! $3 Uber ride from La Placita and $8 Uber ride from Old San Juan. Owner went above and beyond to be sure I was happy (upgrade to room with balcony!!) after a mixup with my reservation, not only alleviating my frustration but made me so so happy for the rest of the trip. Insanely cheap too. I can't imagine staying anywhere but here if I return to PR.

Yelp
Poor Hotel and Booking. First time I booked here they cancelled my room on the second day. 4th time I called and spoke with an older man at the desk who I am familiar with. He took my reservation and all my personal info to book my room. I arrive at the hotel after a looong days work to find that no such reservation exists. Nice staff that can't get their booking over the phone right!!!!! I will not book here again.

Yelp
Not tasty. Very slow service. After we waited more than one hour, the food was served cold

Yelp
I spent the afternoon here doing some work and enjoying the sound of the surf. Ended my day with a Rum Punch cocktail. A tasty beverage delivered by a smiling delightful server. Come for the ambiance - stay for the attitude.

Yelp
If you're walking out and about on the beaches between Ocean Park and Condado - this is the spot to grab an Oceanside drink. The outdoor bar is literally on the beach itself. Great happy hour specials between 1-6 pm - try the sangria (there's a nice little rum kick to it!)

Yelp
Probably the worst experience ever. If you want to overpay for really bad service, go ahead. Give them your money. The view is not worth the hassle. Walk half a mile west and find a better restaurant in Condado.

Yelp
stayed at the hotel attached and ate at Uvva everyday. Food was outstanding. I'm picky with flavors and they nailed it! Everything is seasoned well, fresh, smells amazing. Tuna tartar, all seafood was amazing, duck tacos etc. Great staff too! Awesome bartenders and servers. Thanks guys!!!

Yelp
This place really sucked! The food took almost 2 hours and it was really bad! The only good thing about this place is the view! I recommend you stay away!

Yelp
If you are contemplating getting on your flight Monday morning and going back to your over-worked life in the States, this just might be the place for you. It's a little hidden beach oasis. The food is good and the drinks are better. Amazing beach views too.

Yelp
I have some feedback about this place. Some of the information on some sites is incorrect. There is no guest parking. The night staff is a pain to deal with and they hate their lives. And to access the neighboring streets is a major hassle. Everything is blocked off by gates. I found none of this information before booking, only after arriving here. I'm sorry I didn't do enough research, I suppose, but you'd imagine that when booking through a site, you're doing it fast and in a hurry. I had no wifi, no parking (had to park on the street, somewhere), the staff did not care about the wifi situation and simply said "if you need to access the Internet, since your room is a dead zone for signal, simply go outside, you're welcome to use our chairs". So my room is a dead zone, there's no complimentary anything. They don't allow you to bring in food, nor drinks from the outside, yet the restaurant closes early or earlier when they feel like it. There's no other food places around unless you drive, but do you wanna deal with the gates? They don't provide a microwave, fridge, anything. Other than being beachfront and the day staff is lovely, I would never stay here again. For the price? You're kidding. Way over priced. I sincerely thought it'd be better. I stayed here because it said it had guest parking and wifi and I got neither. I wouldn't have booked the second night. Oh yeah. The side of the premise where we are, gets locked at some point at night. If you're a guest and you want to do anything at 2am, you have to go to a door and ring a bell. Where no one showed up to let us out. We were literally locked in. We waited and no one came. Forced back to our dead zone room I guess. Next morning I ask the front desk and they say to simply yell out "front desk!" And he'll wake up and let you out. They literally said that to me. I stayed at the Wyndham Grand Rio Beach RESORT for cheaper than this dump. Vaca ruined.

Yelp
Restaurant review: This is an adorable spot to eat right on the ocean! My sister and I enjoyed a quick dinner here our first night in San Juan. The location can't be beat and we both enjoyed our meals.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 days. It's right on the beach. The owners are friendly. The food and service is delicious. Not the most glamorous place but it felt homey. No roosters waking us up.

Yelp
Where do I start with this hotel?! It's absolutely horrible! Save your money. I stayed at an air b&b for half my trip but for the other half stayed here with my mom. I stayed for free since my mom already had the room, and I still found myself searching for local air b&b's that I was willing to pay for rather then stay here for free. No sand in the hotel even though it's on the beach or they charge you. Like, not even a tiny little grain of sand. You have to be super careful. I felt like I was walking on eggshells. There's no wifi- you have to to outside of your room to use it. They don't give you anything, everything in the room has a price on it. The TV hardly has any channels. You couldn't flush any paper in the toilet or they charge you? So if I had to relieve myself, I had to stuff my waste ridden tissue in a plastic bag. If I had my "lady problem", I'd have to sleep with a foul smelling tissue pile in the bathroom until the cleaning lady cane to change the bag. I found myself changing the bag myself often because every time I went to the bathroom, I closed the bag tight and moved it to the corner so it wouldn't smell. It's also a clear bag so everyone can see your business. You don't want to have to see and smell foul odors while you're on vacation. There was no garbage can in the hotel other then the disgusting bathroom one I was just writing about. You weren't allowed to bring food or snacks or anything up to your hotel, or they'd charge you. I don't even think you're allowed to bring water, you're expected to buy the warm bottle of water that's propped up on the counter with a $5 price tag. And forget about the hotel restaurant downstairs. I hate to complain about them since they were sweet, but WOW. They got my breakfast order wrong and he put my HOT COFFEE in a PLASTIC CUP to go. I was like "Um, I don't think that's safe. The plastic will melt." And he just got another plastic cup and propped it underneath and was all "Tada!" Absolutely awful. I tossed it in a second. And the restaurant drinks taste like flat soda mixed with tonic water. Horrible drinks. They also lock you out after a certain time. My Uber driver had no idea how to get to the back entrance because it doesn't show up on Google Maps so I was stranded for quite some time and had to walk on the beach until I found the hotels back entrance. The door was locked and they let us in without any ID or proof that we were staying there, didn't even ask. Just opened the door and let us in. The bed was also hard and uncomfortable and the sheets were dirty with stains. Worst hotel I've ever been to and I've been to $30 motels in the hood in New York City, so that should say a lot. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
The food is great, the service a little slow. The view of the sea is magnificen and you can get wet with the waves. Nice place to go to lunch ir dinner.

Yelp
We love this little restaurant on the beach in San Juan, and we loved the hotel even more. Great cappacino, fruit plates, French toast and pancakes in the morn, good sandwiches in the afternoon and awesome drinks and Tuna tar tar in the eve :). A big yay

Yelp
Stayed here on vacation last year. Very friendly staff and owner / operator was pleasant to talk to and very accommodating. Place is right on the beach in a gated community with security. Parking is tight and on the street but not too bad, except at night when the restaurant customer parking fills up the street spots. Overall excellent, chill location with nice restaurant and deck overlooking the beach. The beach was barely accessible during my stay due to a storm and high tide, but could go one street over and access. Highly recommend if you want something other than a chain hotel stay.
