This review is long overdue. Because I have neglected it for so long, I may be light on specific details. We stayed at Hosteria del Prado at the end of February, 2012, which is the end of the summer in Bariloche. Because we were there late in the summer season, but before ski season, the hotel was fairly empty. Additionally, the owner of the hotel was away for a respite, and the inn was being tended to by a relative named Diego and his wife. Please keep these things in mind while reading this review.||Both Diego and his wife (whose name I have forgotten) were wonderful hosts. Because of a missed airline transfer, we had to rearrange our dates of stay on short notice, and they were quite accommodating. Diego and I managed to bridge our language barrier enough to have pleasant conversations, and he's a great resource for information about the area and its nature and history.||Our room was pleasant and clean, and it looked out onto the back yard. We didn't stay in our room very much, but I remember it being cozy, well kept, and adequate to our needs. We spent a great deal of time at the inn in the lounge/common room/sitting room area, which had good WiFi access, books, comfortable seating, and a warm, inviting feel. ||Breakfast was prepared for us each morning by Diego, and while I don't remember many specifics about what was served, I remember that I was always satisfied by our meal. Diego even found some rose hip jam to serve with our toast, after we had a conversation about the rose hips on the tree outside the dining room.||For the first day of our stay, we didn't have a rental car. This can be a problem when staying at this hotel, since it's not easy walking-distance from the town center. However, we were able to use a car service that Diego recommended, and we found it reasonably priced and efficient.||In short, if you prefer luxurious accommodations and a lot of amenities, or if being in the center of the hustle and bustle is important to you, this is not your hotel. On the other hand, if you like chatting with locals to get the inside scoop, you like a quieter scene to rest your head, and you enjoy a charming, cozy hotel or B&B that feels like you are guests in someone's home, I highly recommend Hosteria del Prado. We loved our stay there, and if we ever make it back to Bariloche, we most likely would stay there again.
