Hostería El Reventador

Hosteria Reventador is located at a beautiful place in a valley with highland amazonas jungle. It is a perfect stopover if you are heading to the amazonas basin or if you are coming back from there heading to Quito. You can see the volcano el reventador a short walk from the hosteria. While I was there it spit fumes and growled about every 10min. There is even a newly made dirt road to the el reventador that starts directly at the hostel. This road I couldn‘t find neither on google maps nor on maps.me. So I give a short description: cross the river on the wooden bridge from the hosteria and go up until you come to a gate. After this you find the sign on the attached foto. I went to the right side. Since the left side was blocked by a cow herd (Never hike directly through a cow heard unless you know what you are doing). I continued along this road for about 5km until I returned. So I don‘t know where it leads exactly. The hike was beautiful and I passed through beautiful forests. I stayed for one night in the hosteria. The facilities and internet were good. I was the only guest though. The girl there made me some dinner, which was good. Tough she wasn‘t to helpful with information. The hostel had the creepy vibes from a abandoned theme park from the 1980‘s. Which is it‘s own charm. I think it‘s a pity because with some good maintanance and marketing the place would have a lot of potential. The facilities were all there. It had a pool but no deck chairs. It had a slide that was not working. It also has a pool table. It is not that silent tough because of the nearby street. You cannot pay by card!

We enjoyed several nights in a cabin on the mountain side with incredible views of the volcano. Rooms are clean and comfortable with hammocks on the balcony, we sat outside and watched the sky light up. |Waterfalls on the property have fun swimming holes to enjoy but if you prefer they have a very nice pool. |The owner is very helpful even drive us to small town for supplies. |I recommend a stay here if you are in the San Rafael area .

It’s an adventure getting here with the road being washed out between here and El Chaco, but it’s worth the trip. The hosteria is amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Reventador Volcano is visible a short walk from the hotel and it erupts a few times each day, it’s amazing. And if you walk a few very-steep miles up the recently made dirt road, they have a beautiful lodge at the foot of the volcano. The entire area is beautiful and there are tons of hikes and wildlife. It’s worth making the trek to stay here.

We stayed here as a welcome break in the long trip back from Cuyabeno and Lago Agria. We loved the location by the river and watched the volcano puff away from our bedroom window. This is a really interesting hotel with a mix of well appointed rooms and cliff top cottages within its quirky grounds. The staff were super helpful and friendly and the restaurant food was excellent. Its definitely worth a stop over to see the magnificent San Rafael falls.

More of a business trip with colleagues. Wasn’t sure what to expect with the negative reviews, but i was very pleased with the accommodations and the staff. Considering where its located and the fluctuating numbers of guests, i believe it was maintained fairly well. The staff went out of their way make our stay enjoyable. We were a group of 7 and they were flexible with the prices. |I hope the destruction of San Rafael Falls will not hurt their tourism. I certainly hope to return with Mi esposa!!

You need to know some things about this place. There were some aspects I loved about it, and some that I didn't. Not great was the service. The people working here are kinda slow and not very helpful, even ordering a meal took me a long time (they forgot my order right away). Also some rooms are very noise when people walk in the floor above... But in general this hotel has some kind of beauty in it, especially the pool area and the nice viewpoints that they have constructed at the roof. Also there are some very nice hiking paths just starting in the backyard of the hostel. There are some good trails, to the vulcano and as well to the waterfall San Rafael that is so very impressive. So after all I think it's a good place to stay if you want to discover the beautiful area for one or two days, don't expect a very good service tho. About the prices: I consider it quite expensive, especially the food is pricey (pasta for example is 11$ plus 22% of tax)... I ended up paying 80$ for one night and dinner for two people. So yeah, I'd stay again I guess but it's not perfect...

This hotel does have some great facilities and the location is great if you want to visit San Rafael Falls. However, at our stay the experience was ruined because of poor cleaning at our private room/bungalow.||||The facilities are actually great - and even though it is located next to the main road, the traffic (and noise) were limited during the night. Our bungalow had a nice view, including a balcony, the room at television and private bathroom with a hot shower and unfortunately a used condom in the shower... It seemed that the shower/toilet wasen't cleaned properly after the last guests and the room where dirty in general - the cleaning of the room must have been done a long time before our arrival and they must have skipped the toilet/shower.||||To their defence, we stayed here in October and it seemed that it was a bit off season, since a lot of maintenance was going on - we complained about the dirty room and had a little discount which indicates that they normally would have a higher standard, but we did book our room in advantage which meant that they had time to prepare the room for us...||||Anyhow - the manager was nice and made us feel welcome - if we didn't have the bad experience with the used condom in the shower, we might have considered to stay for another night.||||The place has a medium high price, the wifi works in the main building and they have a restaurant which serves some "standard" dishes to a fair price.

The road from Quito is about to open! This hotel has amazing views at an active volcano and a really warmhearted, excellent service. Joselo, the owner of this hostería, treated me like a friend. I saw the volcano erupting and many amazing landscapes nearby. The hotel is built right next to a spectacular waterfall that you can stand in!!! The whole hotel is in really good shape because Joselo keeps reinvesting and expanding it. I stayed way longer than I originally planned! I will return soon, this place is a unique gem in Ecuador!
