We booked a twin room, and got a twin room, which was incredibly small and smelled musty (room 17). I saw other twin rooms which were bigger but already booked. Spring for a larger room (the room next door with a king bed looked wonderful), which we would have paid more for if they had been available. We found out after our hike that the hotel may have had trekking poles for us to rent or use, which would have been useful. Breakfast is very good with home-baked breads, but doesn't start until 7:30 (although the owner started the coffee machine for us one day at 7 when we wanted an early start.) There were always fires in the wood stoves for the cold mornings. Staff is nice but knowing Spanish is necessary (except for the night clerk.) Shower was hot. Bring earplugs because the doors to the rooms have a glass panel, which means you hear everything in the hall and the lobby (and if the hall light turns on in the night, you see that, too.) We had a small load of laundry done for US 10. We did not eat dinners there as there were always only two main options and nothing for vegetarians. Easy to eat at other hotel restaurants in the area with more options. Despite all the negatives, it had a certain charm.
