Hostería Pehoe Is a a unique situation. Located on a fairly small island, connected by a rather long and narrow, uneven, wooden bridge to a small parking lot, and then to a windy gravel road, three hours away from the closest, rather small, city. Their guests hail from all over the world, with different dietary preferences and restrictions. They also serve over 100 guests per dinner. Their solution is to have a prefix menu, our choice for entré was salmon, pork rib, ok beans. It would be fairly upscale for a hospital cafeteria or a school cafeteria, but they did go out of their way to dress it up with the plating, and the service was impeccable. There was a small bowl of a dried ground pepper mix, that made the dishes quite nice, after dumping a few teaspoons. For anyone that has spent time camping, this is certainly a hyge step up from the typical rehydrated meals I would typically have. The pricing was a bit strange. We were told that out dinner would be $28,000 CLP or $40 USD. My wife had the salmon, and a glass of wine, and I chose the beans, and a glass of hot water, and both of ours were $28,000 CLP which due to the current exchange rate came out to roughly $40 USD each, with tip.
What really sets this restaurant apart, are the views from inside and just outside. I have hiked for hours to get views anywhere close to what I'm currently looking at, from my table, while I write this review. Plus, it has WiFi, in middle of nowhere.
