I had a great time at this place. The food was amazing. I ordered yo mama's chicken sandwich with honey BBQ, and it was a phenomenal dish. I also got some drumsticks in the Nashville flavor, and they were very good. I tried the Alabama barbecue dipping sauce, recommended by a worker. It was delicious. The service was phenomenal, and I have no complaints at all. I'll definitely be going back to try more items on the menu.

Ordered from here on Uber Eats and I do not recommend doing so. Chicken sandwich was cold when it got here, and the fries also looked old and no good. I tried to heat up the sandwich and feel sick like after eating a few bites thinking it may be saved. The tea also made me feel weird and upon arrival didn’t have ice it was very hot. Uber Eats and this place I do not recommend getting.

HCT used to be great, but isn't nearly as good anymore after the ownership change in 2024. This is what one of my chicken tenders looked like. Dry and basically no real chicken. $10.99 for three of these. My wife got mac n cheese and it tasted like school cafeteria mac n cheese made with nacho cheese.

First time being here and the food was fantastic. Tenders were great, coleslaw was fantastic and the fried cornbread was so sweet and crunchy and soft. Great staff very helpful and nice. Clean place too. Highly recommend

Very friendly and upbeat employees! I placed a carry-out order with the app for 3 wings and a side of fries. For the price of $13.99, I felt that the amount of food and freshness wasn’t the highest. The fries were not seasoned although I did not choose the “no seasoning” option in the app and the wings didn’t taste the most fresh. I definitely want to come again and try the new menu items that were recently added. Update: came back and ordered more wings after the manager kindly offered me to come again- they were great this time. Thanks for making it right and will definitely come again!

My girlfriend and I visited here on 4/14. Usually when we drive past it's late and the restaurant is closed. So were happy to try it. I got the chicken bites, fries and mac n cheese. Everything was hot and the sweet tea was free! :) They have garage doors which were open letting in the spring air and it was warm outside. Ordering went smooth, and they offer a ton of options. We can't wait to return to try new food options! :)

The atmosphere is amazing! The food is top notch and well worth it! The service is amazing, when you walk in they greet you, ask if they can help with anything. I absolutely love HCT!! Those Warm wings is where it’s at!! Also love that the ranch is made in house!!!

I used to love this place, but apparently it's been purchased and is under New Management. The menu used to be very simple and quality. Now it's very complex and some food was very low quality. The five-wing meal is now only three unless I pay five extra dollars for two more wings. I got coleslaw and mac and cheese. That's my sides. Both were completely inedible. I took one bite of each and actually I had to throw them away. There is no service. Only a kiosk. Wish to check out myself from which if the menu is simple, might have been fine. Additionally, the space was essentially abandoned with only one other customer. It's clear no one likes coming here and I can tell why.

I was craving chicken wings one Sunday afternoon and stopped by. The food was just okay, nothing particularly bad but also nothing particularly great. The mac and cheese was thicker than I care for and the (mild) chicken could've used more seasoning (not spice). The beans were the best part for me.

The food was great and served hot. Tiffany waited on us and her customer service was exemplar!

This place has sold out hard. I ordered four of the chicken breast sandwiches tonight and they were very disappointing. The old Hot Chicken would serve up a huge chicken breast slathered in slaw and ranch between four pieces of bread. A lot of the time it was more than enough to eat. Now the portion is half that size, no slaw, with one piece of bread. Not to mention the chicken pieces were overcooked. It was so much less value in comparison to when it was the original HCT. It's a damn shame because I used to love this place. An upside is the fried cornbread though. I shared it with my coworkers and they loved it. Unfortunately, I won't be going back to HCT for the chicken anymore. They've lost another loyal customer.

Hot Chicken Takeover is introducing a new menu item to their meat lineup... Nuggets. You know the HCT drill, pick your meat, pick your heat, and pick your sides and extra. Mild is my typical HCT heat level. The Nuggets lay on top of the piece of bread and come with pickles and house ranch. Their Nuggets are 100% chicken breast meat, yet it still maintain the moisture as I bite into each Nuggets. I recommend to dip the Nuggets into the house ranch, which always take things to another level.

The food is always good but the service is better. The manager Tifanne is so nice. She helped me print my receipt and told me how to get points on the app. She always remembers my name.

Cold food, hard chicken that felt like it was left out, and did not get order correct. This has really done down in quality. Stay out until the can fix this situation.

I have only been to Hot Chicken Takeover in Clintonville, but finally got to go to Grandview. It has changed over the years, finally serving fountain Coca-Cola products and had a Coca-Cola Zero Sugar with warm chicken tenders with waffles, and yummy Mac and Cheese. Great service from the staff. Still simple inside. The place has been Rife's Market for years, later Sweet Carrot, and now Hot Chicken Takeover. I will be going back to the Grandview location again soon.

Great time at hot chicken takeover for dinner. I wanted to try their unicorn fries - and they were absolutely worth it!! I love their sauces. I got the 4 drumsticks with medium spice and a side of mac and cheese too. It was so delicious!! This is a great spot for Grandview!

Not the same. Everything taste different. Fries are not fresh cut anymore.. the seasoning changed. The store on the other hand was nice and clean. The staff was friendly.

I am pleased that this place is listed #1 on yelp!! Fast, casual, food is everyone's jam. And the large, meaty pieces of chicken hit the spot, taste wise and value wise. I personally like the tenders. Their three piece meal for $12 is the same amount of meat as the now $19 Caniac Combo!! And instead of dealing with some high schooler through a speaker, the lovely servers at HCT are always warm and welcoming whenever I come by. They invariably will always offer me a free drink while I wait for my food that is prepped but not cooked until ordered. No heat lamps aloud!!

I'm not entirely sure what happened... however this is the worst experience I've had with HTC. They didn't follow any instructions, their wings taste like they've been sitting under a heating lamp for hours, and their fries lack texture and flavor. It feels like this great restaurant has decided to take the easy route and buy frozen goods which they think they can flash fry. Very disappointed and embarrassed that I recommended this to a friend.

New OG sandwhich is HORRIBLE! The thing is a cruchy overcoooked rock on hard bun. Barely amy slaw. Bread was better. You wont stay in business with this trash. Couldn't be more disappointed.

Had to welcome HCT to the neighborhood by going and grabbing some dinner. First and foremost I love that they rebranded the original sign that was on the building, it was too nice to get rid of. I guess one of the only downfalls of this space is there is very limited parking but you can park on the street which isn't a big deal to me. The service was great everyone was friendly. It wasn't very busy when we came in so we placed our orders quickly. I got the jumbo chicken tenders and a side of ma's mac. The tenders were really good, ma's Mac was ok pretty standard Mac and cheese. Their ranch is 10/10 so I ordered extra. We also got a side of fries which were enough to share between the three of us so side wise I'd say the fries are the best bang for your buck. Overall we all enjoyed our food and time here.

Update: I thought things couldn't get any worse than a 1, but I'd really give it a 0 now if I could. Literally nothing on the menu resembles the original recipes that were served by the founder. The marketing or PR person who manages their Yelp account will happily hop in and try to gaslight anyone who says otherwise...but they're not, and they know it. This place is a temple to what venture capital does to good businesses.

I know the original restaurant was taken over by another restaurant group. I am sad to report that the new owners have ruined what used to be tasty and reliable. My 2 tenders were way over-fried and the meat dry. They used to be juicy, tender, and golden. The delish pickles are gone unless you want fried pickles. What were sweet and saucy beans are now gummy, dry bean mush and the vinegar-based slaw is now cabbage drowning in mayo. I asked them not to include bread, but I got it anyhow. What a shame that a super product has been degraded so awfully! I definitely will not return.

I have always loved Hot Chicken Takeover. Just tried the new menu and was excited to see additional side options but was so disappointed. I got the nuggets, mashed potatoes and of course the banana pudding. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes. Bad enough I threw them away. The nuggets were fine. They now are coated in sauce which is ok. The banana pudding was the worst part. They have always had the best banana pudding and this "new menu" is boxed banana pudding so fake banana taste. So so sad

Granted, this was a delivery order rather than an eat in experience, but the food arrived at our door less than 30 minutes after placing the order so I don't think drive time had anything to do with the quality of the food. So this review is only on the food. This was our first time ordering from the Grandview location and apparently our first time since ownership of the brand had changed hands. Our previous experience at the North Market location had been pleasant and the food enjoyable. I can't say the same for this recent experience. First off - serving size. We had ordered 2 kids meals, one was chicken tenders and the other was chicken drumsticks. Notice that both of those descriptions end in "s" indicating plural or more than 1, and that's how they're listed on their menu as well. However, each our kids received exactly 1 tender and 1 drumstick respectively. My wife and I both had boneless breast combos and both breasts were relatively thin and small. The quantity of the sides was satisfactory though (fries for the kids and me and coleslaw for my wife). Second - food quality. Both the breasts were dry and very tough. Took some effort to cut through them. The crinkle fries were fine. The fried corn bread was very fried and very dry. The coleslaw was meh. Third - seasoning. Both my wife and myself were happy with the spice/heat level for the breasts. We both had Nashville hot which definitely had some heat to it. Our girls don't like hot/spicy items so they just had the Southern (naked) level and seemed happy. So I would say our overall experience was subpar. I debated 2 vs 3 stars and probably would have given a 2.5 if given the option. I don't think we'll be rushing out to Hot Chicken Takeover anytime soon.

Horrible since they sold out. I have been a loyal customer since they opened and I was thrilled when Grandview finally opened near my house. We would go there 2 to 3 times a month. The staff was always great. The service was always great and the food was always great. But ever since they got bought out, the food is terrible. This picture is my husband chicken fried steak, which was burnt to a literal crisp and was as hard as a roof shingle. The pickles were greasy and burnt at the same time, I can't believe they took away the waffles and the waffle fries. The coleslaw was dry. My mashed potatoes were soupy, literal soup. Everything was terrible. I spit out the macaroni and cheese. They offered me $30 to come back and I deleted my app. I told them that if that was what they were going to serve a PAYING customer, free food doesn't make it better. I predict they will be dead in the water in 6 months. Go back to what made you good, sell outs. Nobody was looking for this change, nobody was looking for new menu items. What you had was working and now we drive by and it's dead inside.

Everything was fantastic!! Mac was good, service was great, and Miss Katie was a DREAM to help us. 5 stars, would come back again!!

Tiffany is fantastic. She takes care of you and the chicken is temperature hot and really spicy. Not wimpy spicy.

my first impression of hot chicken takeover was overwhelmingly amazing, I ordered the hot OG I like it to be hot because it has good flavour. It doesn't burn you a new one. I mean, the general manager was super nice and helpful I mean, the service took my order. Didn't waste any time got my sides and my drink. I mean, I like the inside like ambience. The short notice of the stools were a little low to the ground had to get used to that. I'm a big guy. They are fast getting your food anytime maybe a short wait but nothing too too big . If you're looking for something in Columbus that is rivals nashville or this will be the place

Service was great & server was really nice, but the food is over priced for it to not be good . Mac & cheese was giving Kraft Mac & cheese in a cup, chicken tenders were okay & pickles that come on it are sweet. Lastly I will say the mash potatoes were good

The Medium is just the right bite of spice and flavor. I've had it a couple times now and will have it again soon. So good! The 3 strip meal is enough for a snack of left overs later. Not to join the trend of "hot this" or "chicken that" but Hot Chicken Takeover is great!

I've always been a fan, but on my latest visit it was clear to me that every single item I ordered was markedly different from what made me a fan in the first place. Not in a way that might have suggested it was just an off night, but in a way where it was noticeable that the preparation of everything I ordered was completely different from what I expected, and not in a way that was improved. I ordered the chicken bites, slaw, and banana pudding. The chicken bites were clearly made from a different / lower grade cut of chicken. The thing I've always loved about the slaw is that it was a vinegar based slaw, so I was completely surprised to discover when I opened it that it's now apparently a creamy slaw. Even the banana pudding was completely changed. It used to be pretty close to perfection with whipped cream and a crumble on top that gave it a slightly salty sweet quality. This was thick, gooey banana pudding with a few barely crumbled vanilla wafers on top that honestly felt like a downgrade from a boxed pudding. I will say that service has always been friendly here, and I understand that businesses have to evolve, but let's be real. The ambiance of HCT is not what made me come back, it was the food. So when you change literally all of it, it makes me feel alienated as a customer, especially when there are so many other options in Columbus.

Disappointing. Chicken was tough and chewy. The fries were undercooked and the creamy coleslaw was too spicy. Mac and cheese was nothing special. I haven't tried the banana pudding yet but I'd say the serving is small. The parking at the Grandview Heights location is challenging. Overall, I spent $22.00 for lunch and I'm not sure the leftovers are worth saving.

Ordered two chicken thighs. Chicken is fried extra hard and very dry. This is my third time attending this location however I have never had chicken this dry and hard. Very disappointed.

Pretty good sandwich, I liked the dual bread concept. Everyone was kind to me. It's a little pricey but if you can afford it, it's good.

Picked up an order today. Part of the order was missing but the bigger problem was that the taste was not good, so much oil ( I get that it is fried chicken but it doesn't need to be dripping) and the sides were just ok- Overrated, unfortunately.

Been here 3 times since they opened. Here are my experiences. 1. 4 Stars - Food was good, hot, just right amount of spice (ordered hot). Fried pickle tasted amazing. Only complaint is chicken was small for the price you pay. They forgot my extra ranch I ordered 2. 2 Stars - Ordered the same thing as the first time. Chicken was more so seasoned and did not seem like a they gave me the same thing I ordered last time. The pickles were much like the free pickles that comes with your meal. Again, unlike the first time I ordered there. They forgot the extra ranch I paid for again. 3. 1 Star - Didn't get the pickles this time. Ordered Hot chicken and it came out like the second time. Just seasoned. Chicken was barely warm and one of the pieces had a black line and almost looked like it was bad. They forgot the extra pickle and bread I ordered. Did not separate those items either. I highly suggest going to Crispy Coop off northwest instead. More bang for your buck and consistent quality.

The bread is just white bread. The ranch is home made (which is great) and there's not that much salt/zest in it (which means a little does not go a long way). The pickles seem to be self marinated, and the vinegar could use a little more zap. Granted, this isn't a fast food chain, and I won't be the first to complain about healthy options, but come on did ya know vinegar is healthy, and people who don't eat bread need salt? Spice it up now y'all! The chicken itself, on the other hand, is A OK ;) I was feeling like the real deal during and after I ate their chicken. I felt like storming the capital just to spread the good word about this chicken because America needs to know. As soon as I ate their chicken, I helped a homeless guy find a job, then went to work for him. I drove around 270 looking for people who needed help changing their tires. I started filling in potholes with gravel from my own basement. This chicken, for the few hours that it was in my small intestine, made me the best me I can be, and for that, I thank you.

First off, we walk in and the lady working the host stand was unbelievably kind. She asked us how our day was and if we had any questions and was extremely personable and polite. Don't even get me STARTED on the delicious food. My friend had never been to Hot Chicken Takeover before but we will 100% be back. Such delicious, perfectly fried chicken and waffle fries. Baked beans were spot on with flavor. If I could give 6 stars, I would! To the redheaded lady working the front of house on Sunday night, March 24th, you are absolutely amazing!

First staff was so friendly and welcoming, second the renovations from the old restaurant was amazing, keep touches of the old while bring in new open, bright space. But now time to get to the food, chicken is crispy and delicious, not too greasy and breading sticks to the chicken!!! I recommend getting/ using the house ranch with every bite !! The macaroni is pretty good for a franchise macaroni and I get it every time !!! The banana pudding is a hidden gem and the top layer is out of this world. Second time going this year and will continue to come. Check out this spot with an even great mission. Thank you joe and HCT staff

The food has always been so tasty and good but this is the second time I've been my order is wrong.. the time before last they didn't make my waffle fries unicorn style and today I ordered 3 tenders and got 2. I'm not one to complain but I just would like to see some consistency and care when preparing my order. Of course both times I took it to-go and could go back...

I tried HCT years ago and it wasnt good. Chicken was dry and mac and cheese was so dry it was inedible. Havent been back since. I saw this new location open and figured I'd give it another shot. I ordered the "jumbo" chicken strips, its absolutely false advertising because there was nothing "jumbo" about them. The breading was soggy and was easily wiped off the chicken. The chicken itself was moist and tender but bland because im assuming the flavoring was in the breading. My mother had the chicken sandwich, the chicken was amazing, the cole slaw and bread not so much. 4 pieces of bread as a bun was not good, my mom didnt like the cole slaw either. As for sides we got the mac and cheese, it was creamy and good but just tasted like boxed mac and cheese you'd get from the store. The fries are super thin, straw fries I think they are called, I dont care for this kind of fry so I didnt care for them either. The baked beans were probably my favorite dish, they were very flavorful. My biggest dislike of this restertaunt is they dont provide anything but ranch as dipping sauce. Not everyone likes ranch, they need more selections. All in all I definitely wont be eating here again, the prices are outrageously high for the quality. I also posted a picture of their "jumbo" tenders.

Ive been to HCT numerous times (north market, clintonville, Polaris) are my usual go to spots. I ordered from the grandview location and was disappointed. It seems like the Mac and cheese recipe has changed and it tastes like the fake cheese in Mac and cheese you get from a box when it used to taste and look homemade. Now it s bright orange color and I immediately noticed the difference when I saw it. The banana pudding was also different and tasted like it came from a can or like jello pudding. I really dislike the flavor fake banana and this is exactly what this was. Before it tasted homemade with real banana or at least if it wasn't they faked it pretty good. I didn't finish either item and tossed them. The chicken was still good as were the baked beans but the rest was lackluster

The chicken was good, super crispy and good flavor but was mostly skin (it was thighs so I expect less meat but it was pretty skimpy). The mac n cheese was an abomination. It looked and tasted like stouffers but slimier and saltier. Their menu says it's "baked mac" but this looks and tastes nothing like any baked mac I've ever had. It was terrible. The baked beans were solid but too sweet for my taste. Service was great; we were the only people in there. For the price, there's better places nearby.

The Grandview location provides those early days quality that HCT loyalists have been missing as of late. The chicken is well prepared, spiced evenly, and portions seem to be back to pre-Covid consistency. The staff are kind, quick, and eager to make the in person dining experience more personable. The new location should quickly become a staple of the neighborhood given its location and heritage.

Seems a little pricey...and the sides aren't that appealing for me. The chicken was tender and flavorful though.

I come here probably twice a week. Every time I come in everyone is very nice and helpful. The food is delicious, I would say they could probably fry the fried pickles just a little bit longer to have a bit more crunch but that's just me. The hot ranch is perfect. Not too hot but just the right amount of kick. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

The chicken is good and I enjoy their service, but I find their sides lacking. The max and cheese isn't bad, but that's just about the only side that I enjoy on their menu. Their ranch is great and it pairs really well with their chicken!

It was my first visit and I got 5 wings with fries. After speaking with Emily she recommended I get the banana pudding. Emily was friendly and courteous. The food was delicious and please tell Emily that Pleasant enjoyed the banana pudding!

Came in here a couple weeks ago. I really liked how the chicken was seasoned. Unfortunately, it was just too greasy, and it made me feel a little nauseous. I also tried their baked beans and macaroni. The baked beans were worse than canned beans from the grocery. The macaroni tasted like something from a box. The food was edible, but not good enough for me to feel satisfied (especially considering its price.) Unfortunately for HCT, there's a lot of really good food for really good prices close to this location. I don't think I'll be back.

Great food, great atmosphere!! This was my first time at this location, and it's beautiful! The boneless, nuggs, and slaw and beans we had were delicious as usual. I loooove this new location, and the staff here was so friendly and helpful. Special shout-out to Savion and Mikail for making my friend and I feel welcome. This company is lucky to have such dedicated workers!
