15 Best Bars in Lisbon | Condé Nast Traveler

"First opened in 1948 by Luiz Villas-Boas as a radio program, Hot Clube de Portugal is one of Europe’s oldest jazz venues. It has a mighty history, having attracted such legends as Count Basie to perform, and that sense of cultural importance continues to resonate in its modern form. Located in Praça da Alegria, this is the best spot in town to savor Portuguese and global talents like the Ricardo Pinto Quintet, Pablo Lapidusas International Trio, and Hermon Mehari." - Alia Akkam

Ten stars ✨ ! Lucky enough to hit a free entry jam session night headed up by an amazing stand up bass player and the people who came to play were awesome 👏. Owners were great. Cocktails reasonable. Small intimate (seats maybe 60 but has fab open beer garden in the back). It's been around since 1948. One of the owners has been there since he was 18 ... 30 years ago! True jazz lovers.... it's all about the music for them and it shows. 🎶🎶🎶

Lovely experience. Had the pleasure of seeing some very talented musicians perform. The venue had a nice cosy feel, be warned it does get quite hot in there. Arrive early for seats but there is standing space also.

It gets busy so come early. It's a cozy place with limited seating. Ensure your booster is done, andnorncarry a negative pcr test. The bands on the weekdays are lovely but weekends it's another vibe altogether. You'll always have a wonderful time if you enjoy jazz.

One of the best jazz bars in Europe with fair entrance fee(10 euros). Program I've watched was <Music of Horace Silver> and it was very educational. Performers explained brief history of each music they played. The bar was literally "densely packed" with jazz fans even on the weekday. Highly recommended for jazz fans visiting Lisbon and young jazz artists who seek to learn.

We got refused entry at the door because we “needed to take a bath.” I’ve never heard a more ridiculous, disrespectful excuse like that in my life. We are perfectly clean people who just wanted to enjoy some good music for the evening. It’s unbelievable that you would actually refuse someone at the door because you think they look like they “need to take a bath.” It was quite clear that the person at the door was uncomfortable with how we looked.

It's a quaint jazz bar, with people from all over the world watching their concerts. They serve different kinds of cocktails, wine and beer. When we went there the tickets were €10/person

The jam was super. The musicians were superb. The drinks were chip. The atmosphere was privileged. We liked it much!

nice ambience and music, but it's very clear that they don't like foreigners here... had to wait in line much longer than the locals who could skip the line and was treated quite rudely by the bartender who constantly let others who came after me order before me. He told me he had no more white wine, but I saw him pour it for someone else a couple of minutes later... loved the band though, that was great!
