On the Grid : Hot Pie Pizza

"Hot Pie is greasy. It’s cheap. It’s one of the few decent pizza-by-the-slice spots in Vancouver. Most importantly, it’s one of the few places that are open past 2:00am. Go here when you need cheap eats… especially when stumbling out after last call." - Louder Than Ten

Went to get two pizza’s for take out, the very friendly owner made it in a little over 10 mins. Seriously delicious pizza! Even topped the fresh pizza’s off with some fresh cheese. They were absolutely amazing, thanks for the pizza!

Google
Great independent pizza shop. By the pie or by the slice fresh and tasty. One of the best veggie slices in town. Owner very kind and personable.

Hot pie pizza changed my life. Exactly 3 years ago I was stricken by the coronavirus, and ever since I have been brutally ill and unable to taste or smell. But then all of that changed thanks to hot pie pizza. Hot pie pizza cured my illness and finally I can taste food again. All I crave is hot pie pizza. Thank you hot pie pizza, thank you.

Yelp
Pepperoni pizza 5.21/10- honestly for a 24 hour pizza joint located conveniently across bars and nightclubs this is pretty good. Also given the fast service and numerous options. However I wasn't a fan of the dough and I felt that it could definitely use more cheese. With the red pepper flakes though it wasn't terrible and I liked their pepperoni

Yelp
Lots of pizza places to choose from In Gastown & Downtown Vancouver. My husband came across this quaint little hole in the wall place and we have been nowhere else for pizza since ! The Vegetarian ( with no onion ) is amazing ! It's packed with fresh veggies cooked to perfection! They are super crisp yet tender ( never mushy ) and the crust is awesome too. We normally get it with half Hawaiian, which is also so tasty. Only takes 15 m from ordering to having it served to go. You can also eat in, and they do have pizza by the slice. They also have an ATM inside for your convenience if you need cash ( never used it so not sure what the fees are like ) Owner is always upbeat and friendly. Price for a medium half / half is around 15$ and has 8 slices - enough for 2 people. We have ordered a large once before, but preferred the medium as it was cooked more to our liking. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Back in 2017, my husband and I had just had a terrible experience with a big-chain pizza delivery, when a co-resident recommended his favourite pizza joint to us. It's a little hole-in-the-wall, family-run place just around the corner here in Gastown. The iconic Gassy Jack statue is staring almost directly at it. It's called Hot Pie Pizza. It is now our favourite source of pizza, period. We originally did by-the-slice, which was good, then graduated up to freshly made whole pizzas. Food for the gods, but for us mere mortals! According to MasterCard, we've gotten pizza there 112 times as of this writing. We have yet to have an unpleasant experience. And just as icing on the cake, the family who owns and operates it are friendly, good-natured, and caring. (They gave us a nice bottle of wine when we were mourning the loss of our elderly cat, Tommy.) Tell them, "PackPuppy, the Purple Pooch", sent you!

Yelp
Worst pizza place in vancouver. Complete scam. Don't offer anything they have on their menu except rip off pizza by the slice and staff gets mad at you for the hours that they are scheduled to work. Pizza is dry, very poorly made and the most expensive you will find in the city.

Yelp
They served me 2 day old pepperoni pizza. Then after they pulled out the fresh version of the same pizza. I had already forced my self to eat one of the 2 day old pizzas. I asked her if she can give one of the fresh ones for the second one. But she refused and charged me. This place needs to get looked at by the health department. I'm 100% sure that pizza was at least 2 days old. The cheese was hard and brown and didn't even melt after being in the oven. It's around New Years so it's cuz of the holidays.

Yelp
This is a "stand up" business. I give my full support. The pie crust beautifully "rises up."

Yelp
Atmosphere: Small shop that is made for a grab and go situation. Price: Cheap Service: Friendly Food: I had two slices of cheese and pepperoni pizza which was decent, nothing to write home about, however, decent.

Yelp
Decent pizza. Thin crust, decent sauce. Not like NYC pizza but better than Domino's and other fast food delivery joints.

Yelp
Okay, came her after a long night out and it hit the spot like pizza has never hit the spot before. That's not the only reason we liked it though. It came highly recommended by some friends so we had to grab a few slices. Just had a basic pepperoni, but it was cooked to perfection, the pepperoni was crisp but not hard or burnt, the crust wasn't to thin and falling apart, it was perfect. A cheap delicious slice for any time of day. I normally like a more Italian style pizza, but this was like a luxury dominos or something of that style with thicker crust if you know what I'm getting at. Overall, great pie, 9/10

Yelp
Surprisingly, in a sea of surrounding more expensive restaurants, this is a nice change. It's been awhile but it's a bit better than your Fresh Slice, a smaller joint obviously more for takeout. And for tourists who are in Gastown lol.

Yelp
This is still my convenient go-to pizza place on the way home from work. The pepperoni slices are amazing when they are fresh out of the oven! Veggie is always fully loaded and then some. Staff is always friendly and talkative. They were also kind enough to give me two free slices when my dog caused me to drop them on the floor. They didn't hesitate to help me out and weren't angry about the mess we made.

Yelp
My friend tried to buy a piece of pizza for a homeless guy that approached us as we walked by this place. The owner told us straight to my friend's face that they don't take credit cards from foreigners. We obviously questioned that one and then as we handed him cash we told him that's a pretty douchy thing to say to a tourist. Then the guy threw the piece of pizza on my friend's suit... It was actually pretty funny and if this was a comedy club or hidden camera show I'd give it 5 stars... but I'm sorry as a restaurant assessed for customer service... This place gets a 1. And we didn't even get a pizza or our money back!!

Yelp
The staff here does not care about your health and safety! I walked into the restaurant and the woman behind the counter was slicing some sort of raw meat and was wearing plastic gloves. She walked over and took my order. I ordered a Donair and she started handling the pita and veggies with the exact same gloves! I asked her to change gloves because the ones she's using isn't clean and she seemed to not understand and was confused that anyone would ask such a thing. If you are going to eat here I suggest sticking with the pizza, at least the use a tool to place it into the oven to kill off any bacteria that might be on their disgusting raw meat handling, cash register button pressing, money handling hands.

Yelp
Unsafe business. Not clean at all. I do not want to waste my time to write. Just check the official reports : http://www.inspections.vcha.ca/Facility/Show/7a0903f6-9b04-11d3-baa8-005004ae1145 I really don't understand people doing business like that and worst , I don't understand people who eats their !! Including myself:)

Yelp
Got the vegetarian! The price is good and it's nice that it's by the bars. It does need more seasoning though. But for the drunchies I would recommend this place. Open till 3 am

Yelp
Little by-the-slice pizza joint in the heart of Gastown. It's a great for a late-night snack, or even a lunch visit. The pizzas are surprisingly delicious. The ingredients are fresh and the dough is crispy. I'm a fan.

Yelp
The prices are good and the pizza tasted great, but it took a while to get our food. I don't suggest eating there. Probably best to just order take out.

Yelp
Been there once. Had the Vegie Large. Tasted fresh. Very satisfied. Would go again.

Yelp
We were pretty hungry after going dancing and drinks, so a bunch of us decided to get pizza. I would say it's a good place to go if you need a bite and they are not bad either. I would go back if I ever wanted a quick slice.

Yelp
Little by the slice place and Pizza was pretty good and reasonable, 2.75 for a slice of Pepperoni. Was listening to the guy behind counter talking with a girl and it led me to believe he was the owner. Problem is, I gave him a 10 and got back a 5 and a quarter. I asked him how much the slice was and seemed to catch him off guard so he redid the cash back and still shorted me a dollar. Finally got correct change and walked out only to hear the girl inside saying same thing to him stating he did the same to her. Watch your money when you visit this place....
