Hot Rod

Purchased a cap which, despite loving the design, does not fit me at all. Their return policy is the worst I have ever seen: you have to email them within 2 days of receiving the goods, shipping back is on you and it's for store credit only. I emailed them the day I received the package and asked if I could return it to the store since I am local to LA. Well it's been 2 weeks and I havent heard back. I've sent a couple of emails, have tried calling dozens of times (they literally never answer the phone) and even tried contacting them through social media. No reply. They are totally ghosting me. Now I have a cap on my hands that I can't wear and if they ever did answer me, I'm stuck with store credit I have no desire to use since I don't ever want to give them more business. Edit 08/18/21: finally got a hold of them. Turns out they don’t answer the phone anymore. Best way to reach them is thru DM on Instagram. They apologized and gave me a refund.

We purchased a custom skateboard at the total price that other shops were starting off their cost for a custom board. We were in & out, with my son boarding away, within 20-25 minutes.

Really poorly put together. Not enough product. This shop is cool in the same way guys who don't skate wearing thrasher shirts is cool....

I placed an order online in November and had to wait over 3 weeks to have it delivered. Once arrived I wrapped it all up because it was an XMAS gift. Once my husband opened it for Xmas he noticed one of the sweatshirts had a hole in the sleeve. I emailed them to see what can de be done and have not heard back from them. So disappointing!

The store is actually on Sawtelle now, which is a great addition to the neighborhood. Cool clothes, good vibes, nice team. If you want to support an LA business in your community, this is the spot. They partner and support the other business in the area as well. Follow on their IG for latest releases, collabs, and sales.

Such a cool little shop with some wicked designs loved the hats came in because I heard the shop vibe was awesome and very welcoming and I was not disappointed they got a little bit of everything shoes shorts shirts hats different styles different designs and plenty a smiley faces I was only in the shop for a short period of time walked out with three hats and a cool new facemask already waiting for there new hat design to make my second purchase

Never order from them online! Placed an order, waited for three weeks with no word (including no response to multiple emails I sent checking up on my order). Finally got an unapologetic email telling me they couldn't fulfill my order due to "circumstances." The item I wanted is by now sold out everywhere else. They're also making me wait over a month for a refund. Avoid avoid avoid.

If I could give this place no stars, I 110% would. I placed an order for a limited run pair of Vans Vaults and was charged immediately for the purchase. However, I never received any order confirmation and had to contact Hot Rod, which they unfortunately never responded to. I sent them a direct message through their active Instagram account which seemed to help, but then communication fell silent once again. 2 weeks later I have received my shoes, and they are the wrong pair of shoes. I immediately called Hot Rod and was met with an annoyed and unhelpful employee who said, "Our bad but there's nothing we can do." I had to suggest to them that they contact their distributor to see if the correct shoes (which due to the long wait, are now sold out) could be found. At no point did they seem interested in fixing this situation and instead approached with irritation and hostility. Never again will I waste my time going through this vendor for anything.

Super cool clothes, really well made, at fair prices. Try the store on Sawtelle for the best vibe around. Just bought my third hat from there. Bernard, the owner, keeps always coming up with new ideas. And on certain Friday nights he hosts DJ's on his patio to fill up the Sawtelle area with awesome techno beats. Try it out! I am a Sawtelle resident and con confirm it is the coolest store on the boulevard.

Had placed an online order with them and got a shipping confirmation from them on October 28 at 10:30 in the morning so I Keep checking the shipping number that was sent in the confirmation for over 2weeks with no updates. Reach out to them since I have not Heard anything on November 13 sent an email and final on November 15 they got back to me with the shoe is sold out and will refund my order. Why do I have to reach out to you guys when it's been over 2 weeks just to find out it's sold out. You guys probably back door to many pairs and said who cares and try to keep my money. Don't go to this place or support them in anyway they are Crooks and don't care and will try to keep your money

Shooooooooeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssss! This place is the boutique of dope kicks in the area, chill staff who knows what looks good and how to get it. They have good spacing on the wall to give each shoe it's own room to shine, much better than places that cram 200 pair onto one wall. I'd have gone 5 stars but I had to chase these cats around a bit too much. Got a pair of Cons as a gift and needed a bigger size. Cool for me Hot Rod ordered them and said they'd be here in a few days, they had my number and email to hit me up. About a week later, no word, I had to call, some sort of delay, they said they'd let me know in a few days. Another week, no call, I call them, some sort of delay...again. Did this routine twice more too before I did finally get my shoes. My word to the crew here is if you say something will be ready in a few days and it's not, CALL THE CUSTOMER. All I wanted was an update, but I had to call you because I didn't hear back. Called you for updates like a half dozen times over the span of a month. You guys send out like 3 emails a week with new releases, take the five seconds to shoot a customer an email about a delay. Easy peasy. All in all though the guys that work here are good people, like I said they know their shit and are happy to help. Mighty good selection of shoes, it's pretty much the only place I go.

This review is for the barber shop inside of Hot Rod, not the apparel store. My husband got a haircut there recently, and they did an OK job. Nothing great, but not too terrible either. They also took a very long time and I considered the service a bit overpriced. My husband was not very pleased with the haircut when we walked out of the shop. A couple of days later, the cut did seem to get a little better. I don't know if it's because the hair grew a little or because we just got used to it!!

Great service by these two and shop management. Easy to pick up on a conversation with everyone as they are relatable and helpful even when it comes to shopping and trends. They get some exclusive vans that my bf tends to go for & on top of that he can get his cut done at the same time. The vibe and business here is different, makes accompanying my bf to the barbershop easier.

Don't hesitate to get your haircut by Sang. He listens to what you want and asked me questions throughout the haircut to make sure I was getting the haircut I wanted. He did a great job cutting my hair, will definitely be coming back. Also make sure to check out their dope clothing selection.

Great environment and excellent barbers. Sang is my barber and my son's barber . He has a lot of skills, patience, and is very thorough. I go there and all my family and friends go with them because they are the best . My son got his first hair cut with Sang when he was 6 months and I have taken him ever since . To cut a 6 month old perfectly it takes skills and patience. I recommend if your looking for a good cut at a reasonable price they're ones you should see.

My kids love this store for their shoes and t shirts. They usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving for their Black Friday sale. The have a lot of of items for teenagers and the skateboarding crowd.

I began shopping here long before their renovation and chic re-branding. I have purchased some awesome SBs here as well as a Sector Nine City Crusher board, which I keep in the trunk of my car. They carry a great line of Nikes as well as Vans and the occasional Chuck Taylor and Spring Court. I do wish they carried Spring Courts in smaller men's sizes because I am dying for a pair but can't find my size! I am on their email chain and I enjoy seeing the items they have in stock as well their limited edition pieces. I really enjoy shopping here because the guys are laid back, knowledgeable and actually remember me! I always make it a point to shop during their annual blow out sales and purchase several pairs of shoes for my brother. Hot Rod makes some incredibly cool and soft shirts that my brother loves to death. They wash and wear well and he feels really cool when he wears them. I told him to keep Hot Rod a secret so that no one at school can copy his style.

My little brother loves coming here to get his haircut with Sang. No one has ever really gotten it right until we came to Sang. I've taken him to quite a few barber shops over the years and nor he nor my mother have liked the way other barbers have left his hair. But after we found Sang he no longer lets anyone touch his hair besides Sang. He absolutely knows what he is doing I 100% recommend him.

I love this place, they always have freak kicks and clothes to match. The staff is always courteous and knowledgable. Bernard is a good man and always on top of keeping the shop tip top.

A few months have passed since having visiting Hot Rod, and i have felt guilty for taking so long to review. These guys awesome! Super friendly, great footwear selection and very honest. My pup and I ended up hanging out in the shop for a couple of hours as it raining outside and the staff didn't mind one bit. They have a great selection of exclusive kicks, and i picked up two pairs. They were also extremely helpful in providing other stores that have comparable styles, which I thought was awesome. They even through in a free T-shirt. Support Local!!! Adrian

This is more than just a skateboard shop. Hotrod is probably hands down one of the most popular skate board /shoes shop in LA. For you shoe whores, this is the place to be. They have an extensive collection of Nike SB, Puma and Vans. The selection of Nike SB at Hotrod is freaking awesome. So many rare and hard to find SBs. It's a Nike heaven. Also with many fakes going around, you can count on the quality and authenticity of shoes that they offer. The manager Cameron and his sales people are cool and knowledgeable. They really good about updating their customers with new arrivals. I have been looking for Nike SB Milk Blazer of my size ever since its first release. So two weeks ago, I received an email update and informed me that a new shipment has arrived. Being a professional, I quietly and quickly excuse myself from a conference call. Went inside to a server room, called them and purchased my shoe over the phone. And yes, I managed to get back in time to finish up the conference call too. Misc. Note: They used to throw demos in the store but not certain if they still do that. They have a small parking lot in the back, otherwise, just park on Westwood blvd.

What a chill spot. When I first walked into HR, I assumed I'd get the service typical of most high-end shoe stores: employees hanging out, possibly including the owner, ignoring customers for the most part and chatting it up. On first glance, I really thought that was the case. But in just a few minutes, they had really warmed up. I was offered cold refreshment (on the house!), encouraged to try on shoes (even though I was wearing boat shoes with no socks), and generally made to feel at home. They have an excellent stock, with puma limited release, vans vault, vans Cali, nike sb, and more that I probably missed. They will even ship phone orders for free if I don't feel like driving into the west side. In a city packed with "luxury" sneaker shops you have to stand out to succeed, and HR definitely does.

I've driven down Westwood hundreds of times but have never seen Hot Rod. Evidently they've been there for 13 years! I popped in today while running errands, because nothing captures my attention like a cool pair of shoes. They had a small selection of great clothes- your basic black, grey button downs, sweaters, a few cool jackets and some skateboarding. The guys running the place were pretty cool too- which always earns mom and pop type shops some bonus points in my book...

Came all the way from Tennessee to hit this place. Guys that worked there were extremely helpful. Told them we were from out of town and the immediately started giving us info on LA and what we needed to do/see. Even gave us a quick rundown of his store and a little history behind it. Selection of shoes are great. I went to four other shoe stores after Hot Rod and no one came close to their selection. Their brand of clothes are awesome too. Ended up walking out with a HR shirt but unfortunately no shoes. Went in looking for Koston dunks and they didn't have them. But they immediately put me on their email list to let me know when they came in. Next day I had an email and within 15 minutes the shoes were on their way to my house!!! You can't get better service than that!! If you com to LA and don't go to Hot Rod then put the mouse down and punch yourself in the face. You're welcome!

I can't say enough good things about Hot Rod! I first found out about Hot Rod when I was looking for a pair of Nike SB Trickstar blazers, and a friend of mine suggested I check them out. It must have been fate, cuz they had 1 pair left in my size. Ever since then, they have been my go to shop. They have a great selection of kicks, watches, sunglasses, clothing and accessories! But the best part about this store is the staff! The guys down at Hot Rod are super friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. I really appreciate how they keep me up to date on what's coming out as well. I guess the only bad thing I can say about the shop, is that I lose all self control in there...I always leave with more than just the 1 thing I intended on buying :D Check them out!! Big thanks to Kyle, Bernard, Cameron and the HR crew for always keeping me laced!

decent collection of Nike SB's and etc. they also got a small selection of tee's and other apparel. currently they got a collabo with a local artist named Rachel Perry. kinda cool and hipster-y. store was pretty dead and only one employee attempting to do customer service.

I've been going to Sang for quite some time now. One of the best barbers hands down. Very professional or passionate and knows his craft well. As for the place, its super dope. Good music and some clothing always make you want to come back and even shop for few things. Overall 5 Star service, 10 Star Barber

There are many barbers out there but very few that are talented and can cut. Sang is a very talented person. He is very sanitary and careful when cutting. If you're looking for a good barber stop looking and go give Sang a try. He will NOT disappoint!!

Hot Rod sets a high bar for professionalism. I've been several times now, and Sang has done a great job each time. If you're new to LA & looking for great customer service and talent with their cuts you have it all here. What barbershop do u go to that even offers you beer?! The simple things like this leaves a lasting impression. They have many talented artists here. Haircut is a talent and they sure are genius craftsmen at their talent! Make the drive! If you think it's out of your way any talented person and customer service is worth it!! and they have tons of sick shoes and gear for sale, especially there custom L.A logo . Check them out!!!!! Hands Down One The Best Barbershop I've Been To Very Talented Barbers Sang Did An Amazing Job On The Cut. Quick Cuts ,Call Ahead Make An Appointment So I Didn't Have To Wait And The Staff Was Friendly. Definitely Going Back.

One of the best barbers in town. Sang is the only barber I let give me a cut for years now. He's very professional and passionate of what he's doing. Takes his time and doesn't rush through it and makes sure you're happy with your cut. Can't forget he uses a straight edge razor like a real barber should. As for the store it's crazy legit. They always carry good hats, clothing, shoes, and play good music. Great vibes you will always feel welcomed when you walk in.

Best west la shop in the city , hot rod la always coming thru with a good selection of shoes especially for Sk8 -hi vault vans . I've been shopping here since 2007 and now that the barber service is there it makes it really convenient getting hair cuts and definitely do a great job at what they do.

If you're going to advertise that you're open on Sundays be open on Sundays at 12. My brother and I tried to get a pair of vans here and we waited 30mins after 12 and called multiple times no answer. So we went to the Westside Pavilion and gave our money to Nordstrom. Oh well.

Love the store, love the employees. Don't love the guy that I'm assuming is the owner that is always sitting on the couch. He talks down to his employees and acts like he's doing you a favor. It's quite embarrassing to see him berating an employee right in front of the customers face. I am most likely not purchasing from this store again. It's fortunate because I'm all about supporting small businesses. Just not small businesses with small minded rude owners.

I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the management at this store. As a long time skater and Nike collector, small skateshops like this are a common place I like to visit on the weekends. Recently I tried out Hot Rod, a seemingly lowkey fortified establishment. After entering the store and not being greeted, I managed to find and employee, might have been a manager, and asked about the upcoming Nike SB release. Immediately the worker shifted tones and seemed irritated by my question. Let me pause and say I did in fact buy a product from here too, to show support and to add to my collection of skateshops i visit. After I asked the question I was confronted with a brute and cacophonous tone as he told me they are giving the pairs of this limited shoe ONLY to their previous customers. I don't know where this guy learnt customer service from but I can only assume from a rock. It was as if he was trying to show off that they have such a large fan base. This is the absolute worst thing a small shop could do to a new customer like me. I just feel bad for the people who continue to support this pathetic excuse for a store. I will certainly not be returning here and adamantly discourage others from as well. I hope Nike will reconsider supplying such a grimey store like this as I feel as though it represents their brand negatively too.

Sang is a cool dude, came in and didn't really know what I wanted to do with my hair, he gave me some suggestions and we went on from there. The haircut was great and while I was there I picked up a sweater and some shorts. The clothes there is pretty dope. Definitely would recommend, the shop has a very chill atmosphere.

Been knowing my boi Sang since the 5th grade. Bro can cut. If anyone wants a clean cut, come through HOTROD as well as clean clothing or shoes of your choice are available. The ambiance is great and everyone's friendly. Definitely deserves

This is probably one of the best shoe stores in LA. Keep in mind that this is a primarily a skate shop, so don't expect to see Jordan's and AF1's here. If you're into Nike SB, Converse, Adidas, and Vans then you've came to the right place. I came across this place in search of the Nike SB "Gucci" RESN Dunks. Surprisingly, I heard that they were one of the very few stores that received a shipment of these very limited shoes. Unfortunately I found this place too late, or so I thought. By the time that I called to check it they still carried these shoes, they were sold out. They told me to join their mailing list to receive the latest updates on new shoes. So I did, and within a week or so they sent out an e-mail about an extra shipment on these shoes. I came the following day and waited in line for them. They were so organized with distributing the shoes. You would also think that any shop with such limited stock would try to sell their stuff at a higher price, but not this place. Their great shoe selection keeps me coming back for more.

Consignment sneakers, and carry cool stuff,Modern Amusement, Nike SB, Stussy.. etc. real nice guy that owns it, just never seem to carry my size. Waiting for Yelp to update, the shop is on westwood and not stoner.

Truly a one of a kind spot! From the fresh clothes to the freshest haircuts HOT Rod really is the Best in the West. Been getting my haircut by sang for about 4 years now and for good reason. Not only is he professional but he truly takes pride and loves his craft. Fresh tapers or unique designs my boy can do it all. Do yourselves a favor and stop by you won't be disappointed!

I made a over the phone purchase on Xmas eve and the gentleman that helped me was a super dope guy he took my order without hesitation and no attitude! Most shops like "The Hundreds" and "Supreme" etc. are so fucking rude to you that I don't buy shit from them anymore, just by having a great experience over the phone I will now support this brand and continue to buy, these guys are all about customer service! (wish I got the name of the dude that helped me) shout out to that guy!

Great place if you have a shoe problem. Best selection of Nike SBs I've seen anywhere. And I've looked around. Prices are slighty inflated. That's why it gets a 4. But you should defintly check it out if you're in the neighborhood.

I've been coming to hot rod for at least 10 years now and they really have changed. I used to come here when it was a skate shop and now it is really just more of a boutique. They mainly carry hundreds, diamond, huf and their own signature "LA"brand which I personally like the most. When you go in during normal business hours and no sale it going on they are pretty good with helping you out. When you go during one of their big sales (which is really the only time to go) they are more just worried about you stealing stuff. I definitely recommend stopping in during the sale and getting some fresh clothes

So far best barber I been to, friendly staff sang cut my hair and did a great job, always using him as my barber, did I forget to say they also carry dope hats and shirts.
