Not our fave campsite, but as a young couple travelling in our van, it’s not really aimed at us! Probably great if you’ve got kids and want to entertain the whole family, but noisy and smelly if not lol
We probably just had bad luck, but we arrived and there was power washing and tree cutting happening on the site right next to us, then the lorry turned up to pump the sewerage out - which was very smelly, right next to the bathrooms and pool, and they didn’t finish it the first time and came back a couple hours later. Not entirely the campsites fault, but it’s always gonna be smelly when it gets done, and it’s right by the main building and pool 😭 didn’t help that we were right near all of this with a perfect view ❤️ we could’ve asked to move but we knew it would be done by the time we got back from our afternoon out! It’s just a big campsite with lots of people and a pool to maintain, so it’s always going to have this stuff going on, again, not the campsites fault for being popular!!
The staff were lovely and the location is perfect for hot water beach, plus Hahei and cathedral cove too.
There were lots of workers around so it is well maintained, no issues with that! The toilets and showers were clean, as well as the kitchen. The kitchen was on the small side and full of teens in the evenings - again, not an issue, but be aware if that’s not something you want to endure 😂
Can hire shovels for $5 plus something as a bond for the beach, and there’s a perfect walkway from the site down to it, which is really nice!! A bar, fish and chips, coffee in the mornings, and pizza all on site too. The pool is nice, and the hot tub is adults only after 5pm.
Overall we just picked a bad site for our needs, so if you’re like us and want a quiet night or two where you’re not shouted over at by hyper teenagers all the time, maybe avoid lol but this area is touristy, and for good reason, so I’m not trying to be a debby downer !!
This was end of November, Monday to Wednesday.
