The 52 Best Hotels in Paris

"Book here to get a fresh, exclusive, and full-service perspective on Paris’ regally glamorous 1st arrondissement. The city has plenty of dream hotels with Studio 54-style wait lists and storied suites with legendary patrons of yore that keep visitors coming, but 1, Place Vendôme brings a stealth-wealth elegance that’s quintessentially Parisian but infinitely more homey (especially for those accustomed to butler service). This is the first hotel from Swiss fine jewelry and watchmaker Chopard and the Scheufele family, who have owned the brand since 1963. A members' club as much as a hotel (it’s only accessible to guests and their visitors) it's a hushed enclave amid the irrepressible motion of the City of Lights. To top it all of, this is a hotel team that can make the seemingly impossible possible without missing a beat, like sourcing last-minute tickets for a sold-out exhibition; the invaluable level of service will always pivot around pleasure regardless of how much business is on the agenda. For a quintessentially Parisian experiences that prizes privacy over buzz and prefers classically styled haute home comforts to the theatre of a grande dame, this is a must-experience hotel." - Sandra Ramani, Lindsey Tramuta

1, Place Vendôme

"Why book 1, Place Vendôme, Paris? To get a fresh, exclusive and fully serviced perspective on Paris’ regally glamorous 1st arrondissement. The city has plenty of dream hotels with Studio 54-style wait lists and storied suites with legendary patrons of yore that keep visitors coming. What 1, Place Vendôme brings is a stealth wealth elegance that’s as quintessentially Parisian but infinitely more homely (especially for those accustomed to butler service). This is the first hotel from Swiss fine jewelry and watchmaker Chopard and the Scheufele family who have owned the brand since 1963. A members' club as much as a hotel (it’s only accessible to guests and their visitors) it is a hushed enclave amid the City of Lights’ irrepressible motion. Set the scene Above the Chopard boutique, guests enter through one imposing blue door plus another in smoked glass (it’s a dusky view out, impossible to see in) unbranded except for an enigmatic cursive ‘C’. Inside, there’s no lobby, just the grandeur of an 18th-century fireplace, the sweeping curvature of a stone staircase encircling a single lift, and a towering aquamarine Murano glass bead installation by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. There’s no standard check-in; as with dining, that happens wherever guests please—in the salon, the public spaces, or in their rooms. Go deeper, and you’ll see the Winter Garden conservatory with a jungle-themed mosaic mural crafted from thousands of cabochon gemstones; an innovative scent-extracting Chinese-inspired fumoir; a stately fireplace; and a library replete with Scheufele favorites (what occupies the shelves is decided via a Scheufele family WhatsApp). The backstory The Scheufele family bought the building in 2014 when it was operating as another hotel. The building, which dates back to 1723 (the roof and facades are protected as historical monuments), then went through a five-year renovation process from 2019. Painstaking restoration under the combined stewardship of famed interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon (Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, The St. Regis in Rome, the Four Seasons Megève) in tandem with the Schefuele family vanguard—Karl-Fritz, his father Karl-Friedrich, Aunt Caroline and both grandparents—brought 1, Place Vendôme to birth. The rooms The original hotel’s 29 bedrooms have been reordered into just five rooms and 10 suites, artfully resuscitated via artisans including Auberlet & Laurent (the moldings), Les Ateliers Philippe Coudray (curtains and wall hangings) and L’Atelier Mériguet Carrère ( decorative paint). All are distinctly different—from the classical drawing room style of Rubis to the modernist Pop Art flavors (stark white, cobalt blue and curvaceous felt easy chairs) of the attic-level Astronomie suite. Come to Paraiba for embroidered wallpaper, a mosaic shower room and showgirl door tassels. Top of the pile is the Appartement Chopard, a double-height, Versailles-worthy confection of fantasy with a four-poster bed and its own hammam. Cutting-edge, barely perceptible tech plays a subtly seductive role—from the opulent mirrors whose inky reflections transform into TV screens to supersonic Dyson hair dryers that dry hair in two minutes. Food and drink From his outrageously alluring jet-black, gold, and brushed steel Molteni-powered bat-cave of a kitchen, chef Boris Algarra, who brings seven years of Mandarin Oriental experience, sets the fluid culinary stage by offering breakfast, day and night menus that run consecutively 24/7. You eat when you want and, in the absence of a contained restaurant, where you want—be that library, living space or room. The menus are a study in elevated classics, adaptable to the diner’s palate (if a dish is too bitter for some, the kitchen will create something sweeter). The sea salt-crusted beetroot has a bright, earthy tang with heat from freshly grated horseradish and popping spheres of emulsion. The carpaccio of scallop arrives with Kilimanjaro basil and caviar and the chicken breast with mushrooms and gravy sounds homely til you notice the “gravy” is a sauce barigoule laced with foie gras. Wine comes from the Scheufele’s Monetiser La Tour chateau in Bergerac. There are no walk-ins here. The best table is the “host’s table”, which looks straight into the kitchen. The spa There’s no permanent therapist on site, but the top floor hosts a pristine treatment room primed for specialist therapists booked on request. There’s also a petite fitness room with an exercise bike and rowing machine. The service The team melts in and out of the shadows to gently streamline every aspect of your stay, from the formidable but immaculate gentleman who appears at the door on arrival, to the concierge who is always standing in the same spot outside the lift no matter which floor or when. Discreet and engaging, the staff are adept at identifying guests’ cultural passions and then fixing exactly what you need. The neighborhood Place Vendôme is pivotal to the core of classical Paris; the heartland of the original flâneurs. It’s just north of the Tuileries Gardens (every magazine editor’s personal catwalk come Fashion Week), the Rue Saint-Honoré, and the beginning of the Rue de la Paix. It’s a haven for luxury jewellers, including Bulgari, Cartier, Graff, and Rolex. And showy neighbors have long been a draw, from the razzmatazz of Coco Chanel’s “home”, The Ritz, to the model’s favorite Hotel Costes—which is what makes the arrival of the artfully low-key 1, Place Vendôme, so refreshing. Who comes here? Prestige professionals and city connoisseurs are unlikely to be sampling Paris for the first time. It will no doubt also attract Chopard super fans, who are likely to be afforded special privileges. Families Children are welcome and are dispensed with mini-me bathrobes; whilst dogs under 10 kilos can also pass through the hallowed doors. Eco effort Sustainability is not foregrounded here, but the menus do use ingredients predominantly sourced in France, refilling has replaced individual product miniatures in the bathrooms, and triple rather than double-glazed windows conserve more energy. Accessibility Lifts service all the hotel’s floors, with split-level spaces equipped with covert ramps that can accommodate anyone unable to use stairs. Anything else to mention? This is a hotel team that can make the seemingly impossible possible without missing a beat, like sourcing last-minute tickets for a sold-out exhibition. It’s an invaluable level of service for a city that will always pivot around pleasure regardless of how much business is on the agenda. Is it worth it? For a Paris that’s quintessentially Parisian but prizes privacy over buzz and prefers classically styled haute home comforts to the theatre of a grande dame, this is a must-try hotel."

The Best New Hotels in Europe and the UK: 2024 Hot List

"Paris has more than its fair share of hotels to see and be seen in, from buzzy hot spots with Studio 54-style wait lists to storied suites that keep the visitors coming. Countering that razzle-dazzle with stealthy elegance that’s quintessentially Parisian but infinitely more homely (especially for those accustomed to the accouterments of butler service) is 1 Place Vendôme: the first hotel from Swiss fine jewelry and watchmaker Chopard and the Scheufele family, who have owned the company since 1963. This jewel of the regal 1st arrondissement is situated amid Place Vendôme’s murmur of luxury labels and directly above the Chopard boutique, and guests enter through an imposing blue door—unbranded except for an enigmatic cursive C. More akin to a member’s club than a hotel (it’s only accessible to guests and their visitors), several conventions stop here: There’s an 18th-century stone fireplace and sweeping staircase instead of a lobby, and check-in (as with dining) happens whenever and wherever guests please, whether it’s in the library, lounges, or in one of the five rooms and 10 suites—including the double-height, Versailles-worthy Appartement Chopard. Other decor delights include a glass-walled table d’hôte that allows guests to peer in on the chefs while dining; a Winter Garden conservatory with a jungle-themed mosaic mural crafted from thousands of cabochon gemstones; and a Chinese-inspired fumoir with innovative, almost-imperceptible scent-extraction perforations. This is classic Paris, but cut with a haute private edge. From $1,525. —Katie Baron" - CNT Editors

8 New Hotels in Paris to Book in 2024 - AFAR

"Housed above the Chopard flagship in an 18th-century mansion, this intimate 15-room property is the Scheufele family’s first hospitality project and was painstakingly restored over four years with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon. Expect Chopard touches in the artwork and library selections, luxurious details like cashmere bed throws and individually chosen marbles in bathrooms, and French craftsmanship throughout (wood panelling by Les Ateliers de la Chapelle, crystal chandeliers by Maison Baguès). Guest-only antiques-filled salons, a secret panel revealing a hidden cigar lounge, and a glass-capped winter garden with a mosaic celebrating Chopard’s 150th anniversary add to the palace-like, private-home atmosphere; the top-tier Apartment Chopard offers gold accents, a balcony over Place Vendôme, and a Versailles-style “Hall of Mirrors.”" - Mary Winston Nicklin

1PV is a very small luxury hotel: just 5 rooms and 10 suites. The entirely property is only accessible to hotel guests; there aren't any restaurants or bars for non-guests like the Ritz or Crillon or grand public spaces, etc. It's very private and intimate, like staying in an exclusive residence.||There are several lounge spaces (where you can also dine), a cigar lounge plus a small restaurant / chef's table plus a bar area. On the 6th floor there's also a massage treatment room, a dry sauna and a small fitness room (with a stationary bike, rowing machine, a couple of mats and adjustable dumbells). They serve the breakfast menu from 7am - 10pm as well as the lunch/dinner menu in-room or in any of the dining spaces, etc.||The incredible hard product inside the rooms is one area where 1PV really shines. You can tell that they focused a lot of attention to detail and spared no expense on these 15 rooms; the quality of the finishes, features and hard product is extremely high end. I'd just stayed at Aman NYC a few weeks before staying here, and it's safe to say 1PV's finishes can hold their own against Aman NYC (though in a completely different aesthetic style of course).||Every room is unique with decor in different colors around themes, often gemstones. I booked the Boussole Suite, the only room with a dark color scheme. It's a smaller (~500 ish sq ft) suite listed as "Junior Suite Prestige" and I love the layout of this room. It has completely separate living and bedroom, plus a powder room, plus entry to the full bathroom from both living and bedroom, plus a very large amount of closet storage.||The walls are upholstered in very fine textured / patterned fabrics. It looks amazing in person, but because the color scheme dark, in photos it looks like a flat brown unless you are zoomed in very close on the wall. I was able to tour a few other rooms and it's similar throughout: one room had this shimmery pearly fabric with very fine curves / waves and the fine textures and details don't really come through in photos (it just looks white unless you're zoomed in).||In terms of the creature comforts, they got top notch tech and bells and whistles as well. Both nightstands have charging drawers with universal intentional outlets, both bathrooms have bidet toilets, there's a heated towel rack, and the shower has 4 fixtures: inner rain shower ring, outer ring with finer mist, hand shower and waterfall fixture. The zoned AC worked like a dream. Other nice little touches as well like motion activated floor runner nightlights. The only things that I'd change about the room is that I wish the lights had full dimming instead of fixed low / high brightness, and I needed to turn on the shower hot water 60 seconds before I got in to get it to come to the full hot water temp (but after the first day I just knew to start it while brushing my teeth). I also appreciated the room has two rather deep Subzero fridge drawers which have extra space for other bottles. I also loved the Chopard toiletries in the rooms.||In terms of the service & soft product, housekeeping and turndown were on point. The concierge / butler on the 1st floor was very helpful and warm and they're reachable by WhatsApp as well. The service in the lounge was effective as well. It felt like the staff was all there just for you. In 4 nights, I only saw other guests 3 times. The only area that could be improved is the doorman / entry floor. We experienced 6 different people (between day / night shifts across 4 days, etc.) and most were great, but one seemed uninformed (and he was apparently a temp). In the afternoons we were not out, the staff brought little treats (e.g. macarons or canelé), which was a nice touch. I didn't try on-site dining (breakfast, restaurant or room service) because I wanted to try so many things outside of the hotel in Paris.||I think most people would be thrilled with a stay here, but very small luxury hotels like this have some tradeoffs: if you really appreciate having a full hotel spa or big gym or grand lobbies or a buzzy bar to mingle or see and be seen, you'll probably be happier at a large grand dame hotel. Also, note that the property only has one small / slow elevator. It wasn't busy at all, but it could be something to note if you are mobility impaired or if you book a room on one of the top floors.||Overall I was extremely happy with my stay, I'd give the service like 4.75 out of 5 stars and the hard product is like 5++ out of 5. I'll definitely return when I can and it'll be a hard decision whether to check out a different suite with different theme or book the same one again.

The most exceptional hidden gem in the heart of Paris. Exquisite details from the warm towels, to the complimentary drinks and snacks (refilled daily), to the friendly and knowledgeable staff - the decor, food and location are unparalleled. Special thank you to Paul for taking such great care of me during my stay. I hope to see you all very soon. You made my stay in Paris a dream.

Google
This is a jewel of a Hotel. The location is amazing. The service it 5 Star, the Breakfast was everything one could ask for and the room was luxurious. |We were there during Fashion Week and we had dinner at the Hotel then watched the Vogue Fashion Shoe from the balcony of the dining room. It was thrilling. |The hotel has no signage, its discreet and quiet luxury is apparent. One just enters the blue door and there is a doorman ready to greet you. The Hotel Manager introduced herself and was eager to discuss our needs. |We will certainly go back when we can.

Google
Impeccably trained staff, brilliant design, high-quality build, and possibly the best location in Paris. 1, Place Vendôme is a bright new hospitality star in the City of Light.||||Despite the fact that I booked my stay the morning of my arrival, Sokha and her team prepared a most thoughtful welcome. On arrival, I was immediately recognized and greeted by name without having introduced myself. The level of attention to detail was peak Aman level, delivered with understated elegance.||||Sokha secured last-minute reservations at a hard to book restaurant, and secured an appointment at an excellent barbershop as well. The butler staff procured my preferred newspapers and a number of other items with efficiency and panache.||||To adequately describe the level at which this hotel is operating might seem to cross into the realm of hyperbole to those who’ve not yet had the pleasure of staying here. Be assured that you will be delighted by the experience.

We have been to Paris countless times and have stayed at palace hotels and boutique hotels. I was very excited to learn of this new hotel and was so happy we had another reason to visit Paris so we could check this hotel out. The location is PRIMO. You enter the hotel as if you were entering your own home. We arrived very late (around 11pm) yet we were greeted by our butler who was ready to help us with any need we had regardless of the hour. The room was beautifully appointed and so pretty. The service throughout our 4 night stay was unbelievable. Everyone knew our names. I loved this hotel and would highly recommend to anyone who has been to Paris before and wants a truly special experience.

As a first time visitor to Paris, I found the crown jewel of hotels!!! 1 Place Verdome rivals some of the best hotels in Paris who have held the to rankings for years. I will 💯 be back as long as the Chopard family doesn’t increase rates 😉

Google
Probably the best hotel stay I have had in my life. That place is in a class of its own. The attention to detail is beyond anything I’ve gotten to experience. Bravo

Yelp
Stayed here in Sep. 2005 so my memory is a little hazy; but I do remember it being very French (meaning very eloquent but a bit pretentious - sorry) and I remember I had a sprained ankle coming back from Eivissa - so I probably was not in the best of moods to deal with the French airs But all in all it was extremely nice & everything you would expect from a hotel with the location & name it carries

Yelp
Even though most travel sites give this hotel a 5 star rating, I would say it's more in the 4 star range for what Americans are used to. Keeping in mind that European hotels tend to be much smaller but rated higher, when comparing to other hotels that are 5 star, one may consider that to be the rating for this hotel. The main difference between this hotel and the "real" 5 star hotels is that you won't be paying that $1000 a night price tag. One of the most important things I consider when traveling is location. And staying here is definitely a good bet if you consider the location of the hotel as it sits right at one end of Place Vendome. It's really close to everything and compared to staying in a 4 star hotel that you may consider to be a 2 star hotel, sometimes it's worth it to pay a little more to get the comfort. The staff was really helpful and welcoming. I would stay here again. Good deal for the price. My rate was $325 per night.

Yelp
So wonderful staying here. Fabulous location, terrific staff, delicious breakfast. We had am amazing stay here in August 2018. Fabulous location in a beautiful part of town. Boutique type hotel where they go above and beyond. Exceptional customer service!

Yelp
Excellent location for a first time visit to Paris. Ideal for visiting the Louvre, a morning run through the Tuileries, and macaroons at Ladurée. Accommodating and professional staff. Area with impressive historical significance, but more of an international tourist and business feel.

Yelp
Great location, staff was amazing. The place needs a bit of a face lift but would definitely go back.

Yelp
It's not a 5 star hotel. Older structure and pricey. Cool historic address - 1 Vendome - is all it's got going for it.
