This mid-range boutique hotel is an oasis of calm in the heart of Malioboro within five minutes walk of the train station. It’s within the super charming network of little lanes which makes you feel you’ve stepped into an older quieter and simpler time. The rooms are clean and comfortable if a little worn, so don’t expect a modern hotel experience but it all contributes to an atmosphere that is reminiscent of SE Asia travel a couple of decades ago. Still, the AC is cold, the hot water is hot with great pressure and you get to easily interact with the other guests across the beautiful garden as you relax from a day of sightseeing. If you are travelling as a family there are rooms with connecting doors. The staff speak great English and are very friendly and helpful. If you book and pay directly in cash, you’ll probably get a better rate than the online systems. We paid walk-in cash 350,000 IDR per night per room on the ground floor.

Cozy traditional little boutique hotel just across from the train station. Clean, comfortable bed, cold AC. Safe alley way , near all the restaurants , laundry, 4 minutes walk from Marlioboro. Perfect to spend the night when you arrive depart by train. Friendly staff. Has a cute little garden. Super quiet as it’s away from the Main Street

Me and my friend arrived at 6:30 AM but the staff allowed us to check-in right away. We really appreciated that since we took an 8-hour train ride from Jakarta. We loved the atmosphere and vibe of the hotel even if its smacked inside the alley. There's a garden for outside seating where you can relax. The rooms are very clean and spacious. They even provide complimentary breakfast. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There's hot and cold shower with basic toiletries. We loved our stay here for 3 days and 2 nights. It is even walking distance to Malioboro Street. I definitely recommend this hotel. Value for money and all. Terima kasih.

This was my second time of stay in this hotel, the first was in 2012. They did maintain the quality of the hotel, just that it looks slightly older and need to improve cleanliness more. But it is fine. The room is good, the staffs are helpful - i asked adapter from them and they kindly lent it to me, not so far from the malioboro street - probably 10 minutes walking. The shower head in bathroom need to be replaced, as it does not really disperse enough water for us to shower. Other than that, i think it is fine.

This place is awesome. The location is the best. Only 3 minutes walk from train station, 10 minutes walk to Malioboro street. There's a lot of restaurants alternatives so don't worry about getting hungry. The room is clean and comfortable. There's no TV so don't expect that. Really love the ambiance on this hotel. The smoking area is just outside the room, it is forbid to smoke inside the room. Coffee and tea are prepare outside the room but it's available 24 hours that you can make yourself. Breakfast aren't buffet so you have to order either the night before or in the morning but the taste is delicious. I will certainly come back to this hotel with no hesitation.

Stay here for 3 nights. The bed is comfy. The room is spacious. The breakfast is delicious. They have nice rooftop. The place is in the center. Close to anything. One thing I don't like in here is the internet. The connection is very weak. So I had to sit outside to be able to surf. And my towel did smell. For the rest I have a good experience here, the staffs are friendly and attentive.

Stayed at Hotel 1001 Malam for four nights whilst in Jogja. Would reccomend it for a stay in Yogyakarta. ||POSITIVES|- Combination of air conditioning and ceiling fan makes your room nice to escape back to after a hot day.|- Simple breakfast included, and served outside your room on your balcony overlooking the courtyard garden (each room has one). |- Good location. |- Helpful staff. Able to provide tours to the key sites in the area.|- Interesting decor definitely a highlight. Feels quite unique. ||NEGATIVES|- Some creepy crawlies make their presence know. Of one to note, mosquitos operate at dusk and make sitting on the balcony a little risky as they will seek to dine on you.|- The towels are well past their use-by date. Definitely require replacing.|- If noise is an issue for you then this might not be the hotel for you. The hotel is in a bustling location with lots of sounds, both at night and during the day. There is significant onstruction work going on next door during waking hours whilst at night you will hear the call to prayer and the noise of train horns and planes. This wasn't an issue for me, but something to note.

The hotel is located inside an alley, but it got cheap rate and easy access to Malioboro Street, one of the main tourist area in the city. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There's only a few options for the breakfast, but the food is quite good. The room is clean and big, but no TV and phone. So if you need anything, you literally have to go to the front office by yourself. But for the price, room and location, it's a good deal for backpackers.
