3 places to stay along the Banks Peninsula, Christchurch - SilverKris

"A boutique, recent addition to Christchurch's city centre featuring compact but comfortably appointed contemporary rooms; its central location places guests within easy walking distance of a buzzy new dining precinct and notable local cafés, making it a convenient base for exploring the city's food scene." - Rebekah White

Great hotel in an ideal location for exploring beautiful Christchurch. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Only downside was no aircon/fan, so had to keep windows open, which made it quite noisy from the revellers walking past late into the night.

Amazing stay at Hotel 115! Extremely central to the city, all our tour pickups, restaurants, trolley, and the 29 bus which gets you to and from the airport for $4. The room was extremely clean, complete with tea, coffee, and robes for a cozy stay. Would definitely stay here again next time we are in town!

Cleanliness 9/10. Location 8/10. Value for money 3/10.|As a frequent hotel user, this one was very disappointing. We booked the most expensive room. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The windows were beautiful but overall, the room was very basic. The bathroom was so tiny 2 people could be in there at once. There was a pulsating sound all night from somewhere within the hotel and it’s not sound proof. The sound of the tram was expected but be aware there are 2 bars near by. I would have expected a more high end experience. The reception and staff member were uninviting. Given the choice in future I wouldn’t stay here again. The value for money was poor. I’ve had much better stays elsewhere for cheaper.

What a great little hotel. Friendly staff. Funky interior and comfy well appointed rooms. Location is great with plenty of transport, food and shopping options within walking distance. It was very close to the combined hire car facility in Christchurch city which was great for us picking up our car after our stay. We found that prices fluctuated quite a lot, so be sure to book a cancellable rate and check back frequently.

Wonderful location! Short stroll to New Regent St which had a variety of bars and eateries. Tourist tram stopped just outside the hotel which took you around the CBD where you could get on and off at your leisure. Staff were welcoming and friendly.

Rooms are compact but have everything you need for nice stay. Great tv and stations nice decor and curtains. Lucky to get a room with balcony which was lovely for fresh air and view. Cafetière nice touch and toiletries.

This room gave you everything you need in the centre of Christchurch within easy walking distance of food, shopping and the river. The shape of the room and bathroom was a bit quirky, but overall serviceable, with a large comfortable bed, desk and sizable balcony looking over the Christchurch Tramway. There is a small wall heater in the room, but the room was a nice temperature (visiting in September). There was a small issue with the room allocation at the beginning, but this was resolved by staff quickly. I was placed on a first floor room, just above the tram line. It wasn't very disruptive, but you could hear it in the room. However, it is what it is and is quite a unique hotel location.

Fortunately we stayed only for 1 night. Ended up with a room the size of a toiler..Couldn't swing a cat... seriously.... not even any room to put a suitcase.. (Had to leave it on the floor in front of the entry door)... which meant every time we went out we had to move the case... good thing there wasn't a fire in the middle of the night... then again the bed was hard up against the window so I could always throw myself out if there was. never again.... for what we paid we could have had far far better accommodation... location was the only plus side.

Yelp
I booked two rooms for myself and my niece, thinking the central location would be ideal for a convenient and restful visit to Christchurch. Disappointment Number 1 As we walked into our room, we were faced with a window that was right up against a wall; I'm not even sure why there was a window in the room as you couldn't see anything. Disappointment Number 2 When we returned to our room on the Friday evening the incredibly loud music from the night club opposite, was literally vibrating the walls of our rooms. None of us could sleep until after 12:30am. Disappointment Number 3 When I reported the noise to the reception they simply said that they were aware of the nightclub noise on Friday and Saturday nights but there was nothing they could do. While I appreciated this, I did suggest that they should be honest and transparent and let people know that they won't be able to sleep on Friday and Saturday night. Guests should be given all the information to make an informed decision when booking a hotel. What was worse was that the management refused to speak to me, nor return my emails and calls. Shame on them! I recommend you don't stay at this hotel on a Friday or Saturday night.

Yelp
I booked to check-in during the unfortunate global pandemic. I did the non-refundable options, which is my own fault. The staff was inflexible to help me recover my loses. There was a quasi travel ban so there was no way I could go nor give the room away. I question the integrity of this place.

Yelp
We wound up cancelling our reservation for the Heritage Christchurch (across the street) since they did not have parking and found Hotel 115 instead since they only charged $10NZ to park in the parking lot next door. Room Since it was our honeymoon, the management was very nice and they upgraded to us to deluxe king room. It was pretty large, with 3 large arched windows facing to the street. The double sheer and blackout curtains allowed us to have privacy with some light during the day, and also complete darkness when we slept. The bed was decent, not the most comfortable bed I've slept in, but the sheets were clean and fresh. Location This hotel is right above a tramway stop and very close to cathedral square. We walked to the botanical gardens, the bridge of remembrance, Victoria's square, and many other sites easily. Due to the proximity of the tram, it did get quite loud at times, but in the evening the tram stopped running and we did not have any issues with noise. Management The management was very nice, but one thing to note is that reception closes around 930/10pm at night, so you must use your keycard to open the doors. Another review mentioned being charged $30NZ if you lose it -- which was brought to our attention at check in -- that is most likely because it does open the front door and can cause security issues if you misplace your card. Overall, for the price, Hotel 115 is a simple, chic hotel that was perfect for one night in Christchurch.

Yelp
The rooms are small, but the hotel has eclectic decorating and is charming. However, we quickly learned that though we booked 2 rooms (2 couples), they had 3 rooms reserved for us. This occurred because the original reservation (which we thought was canceled) was for 1 room and of course we needed 2 rooms. We sent an email prior to our arrival to make sure that there were only 2 total rooms instead of 3. The hotel, instead of understanding this, insisted we pay for the 3rd room even though they could have easily filled this room. In fact, we heard ourselves one of the ladies at the desk say they were full. Truly disappointing to say the least that they acted so unprofessionally. Would not recommend this hotel as they are not accommodating at all, and we felt very dishonest. Sincerely, Ray and Mary Hosmer Duncan and Nancy Wall

Yelp
We only stayed in Christchurch one night. This city was on the top of my cities in New Zealand that I wanted to see. However, I was saddened by the state of Christchurch nearly four years after the earthquake. It wasn't something I had done much research about prior to going there - and that may be because California bounces back so quickly from earthquakes. Our hotel was a little gem amidst ruins. A modern hotel that sits on a street across from 2 churches that have collapsed. Walking around town it's in a state of being torn down (with some new construction) - but the city center of shopping is out of shipping containers. I was happy to stay here to support the economy but was disheartened by the area. I hope to come back in a few years when it is flourishing again. But regarding the hotel - the management was very friendly and it is in walking distance of parks and the container shopping are. Can't complain about the room which had a big bed and was very cozy.

Yelp
Nice hotel and the price was not the cheapest. But a big shock when I get home and discover they charged me $30 for a missing room key. Now if this was a real metal key I would maybe ok with this... but guys, we're talking the cheapo plastic credit card type key. We actually reached out to them and asked if they could revert this and they stated that this was clearly in the fine print on the multipage doc you signed when you checked in... You've got to be kidding me Hotel 115. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Management is clearly not to be trusted and is simply out to make a quick buck.

Yelp
Very disappointed in this hotel. The room was very small. The bed sheets had stains all the way through to the mattress. And we received a very rude reception when we asked for new ones. I went with my sister. So it should be obvious that I didn't want to share a queen size bed with her. When the room was booked we requested a roll out bed. Never heard a response. But when we asked for one they just said no. With zero effort to fix the problem. When we asked for an upgrade we got a no with a very rude laugh. When we asked for a couple of blankets so one of us could sleep on the floor we got a sigh, and a eye roll. Then we got one blanket, and it was very thin. It must have sat in a closet for a long time, because it too smelled musty. I went outside often to smoke, and only saw a couple of other people staying at the hotel. So either everyone was staying in there room, or there was plenty of space and they just didn't want to help us out. The shower was just a curtain and a floor. So the water ends up getting everywhere. As a result the whole room has a musty smell. And to top it all off I threw some cigarette butts in the trash can before we left, and they charged me 200 dollars for smoking in the room. Even though I was seen multiple times going outside to smoke. That is a very easy solution. Open a window for a small time. Bam. Problem solved. And sense it smells musty in there already I don't see how it would be that big of a deal. This is a cheap hotel that over charges, and squeezes every penny possible. The blond lady, and the German male were very nice. Fire everyone else and start over.
