Excellent stay at Hotel 24! And thank you TripAdvisor for the fantastic rate - you were at least $20 cheaper than other sites and $40 cheaper than calling the hotel. We travel once or twice a year from GA to NH, and Staunton is about our 1/2 way stop. Hotel 24 is now our preferred hotel. It's always clean, comfortable, and the breakfast is outstanding even though we have to pay for it. But for $15 pp, it's a bargain with the huge, all-you-can-eat spread - on china, not cardboard - huge plus to me. It would cost us that much or more anywhere else. We also love Taste of India across the street - never had a bad meal there and prices are great! Our grandson loved the pool - great release of energy from sitting in the car. The only negative was the check-in staff - no smile or warm welcome. In fact, the guy working acted annoyed with the 2 ladies checking in before us and was rather sarcastically rude IMO. I could tell he didn't enjoy his job. But other than him, we highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this place and am looking forward to my return. Grand old lady of the South. Well-appointed lobby and ballroom, beautiful bar area, high ceilings and columns, tastefully splendid. Rooms are a little small but quiet and clean. A/C, heat, hot water, all were in exceptionally good order. Breakfast was buffet style and very good, all you can eat for $13. Good coffee. Very pet friendly. Best thing is it's walking distance to the downtown area, which was one of the coolest I've seen in a long time. Boutique-ey shops, craft breweries, above-average eateries, eclectic little place. I loved it.

Google
What a great hotel! Its very clean, people are friendly, and we had one of the best nights sleep in a long time(at a hotel anyway)... very quiet, very spacious, very tidy, nice high end feel when you walk in.

I stayed here for eight nights while on an extended trip to Staunton, Virginia. This was also my second stay at this particular hotel. Overall, I think it's a wonderful value for money. The room was more than spacious enough with plenty of natural light. The bathroom had an excellent shower. And the restaurant and staff were quite good. Plus this is the best possible location you can get in Staunton. I definitely plan to stay here again in the future!

Google
This is a really nice hotel in the heart of downtown. I stayed 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was definitely one of the best I've had in any hotel. My room was super clean and overall quiet. If I visit again, I'll stay here.

Google
Awesome spot, right downtown next to Main Street! Historic building building with class and remodeled to modernity. Parking was a little weird but was free and abundant. Exercise equipment was a little outdated, but well kept. Hot tub was out of order. Pool worked and was fantastic! Would stay again! Dogs allowed!

I'm fortunate enough to stay at this lovely hotel every March for a conference. It is reasonably priced, has comfortable rooms, and a delicious breakfast. The hotel is close to so many wonderful attractions, restaurants, and shopping. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff goes above and beyond. Every year, I promise to come back for fun. Perhaps, this will be the year...

Google
This is a nice hotel that offers good rooms at a decent rate right in the beautiful heart of downtown Staunton. I received courteous and prompt service, a good bed, and I can say that I enjoyed my 3-night stay at Hotel 24 South.

Yelp
We hosted a work event here and Kristina & her team knocked it out of the park! Our event ran from Wednesday night to Friday morning, included a meeting room, plated lunches, a seated dinner, and breakfast for our overnight guests. The Hotel 24 South staff were around for any questions, super helpful and friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly. I can only speak for my room, but I felt it was rather large and well laid out. The bathroom didn't have ventilation which made getting ready after showering a little unpleasant and smelt a tad musty/moldy but it's a historic hotel so let's temper our expectations. The breakfast offering was quite good, and included everything you could want (eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, fruit, granola, yogurt, pastries, etc.) so I was surprised to see other reviewers noting it wasn't good. That being said, had I been traveling not with a group I probably would've ventured out to a local coffee shop to see their offerings as that's my preferred method! Lastly, this hotel is super centrally located and made a great jumping off point to explore Staunton. We may look to host here again in the future and due to how easy it was, I look forward to it!

Yelp
Dismal hotel. I booked this based on website look for a Wednesday night stay noting what looks like a decent restaurant. It has a Cavernous old lobby area with nothing in it. Zero services. The restaurant is only open a couple of days a week which would've been nice to know, but the website gives no warning of this issue. Rooms are clean, but equally as dismal as the lobby. Boo!

Yelp
Appreciated the downtown location, a few blocks from the Amtrak Train Station and around the corner to Beverly Street shops and restaurants. What was not so great was being charged my full 2 night stay the week prior; I did not expect to be charged prior to my check in. I had booked directly at the hotel's website and it is my usual practice to not select a pre-pay room, only upon check out. I believe this is their standard practice. Hotel day staff was lovely (2 ladies during my stay) but I had a different experience with the mustached older gentleman during the evening shift. I had waited patiently for him to stop typing and look up (I was the only person at the desk) and it was a very long, awkward filled few minutes, waiting for him to (reluctantly) stop typing and look up to address me and my request for a late check out at 1pm. It was granted but I had a bad feeling and double checked in the morning. The lovely day shift lady asked if I was advised to come back before noon to get my room key re-keyed. Of course, grumpy/unpleasant guy, did not share that key piece of information. I was in town for a wedding, I think it is the only option in town. Perhaps I would consider other options next time...

Yelp
Hotel was clean and inviting. Such a wonderful historic place. All of the staff was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We recently stayed here as the 2nd of 3 legs of a trip; the other nights we stayed at a chain hotel in other cities. Hotel 24 South was more expensive than the chains, but looked nice and was centrally located in Staunton. I was disappointed in several things: my bed was "short-sheeted", meaning the bottom sheet was about a foot from the end of the bed, with scratchy material exposed. I actually got a rash on my feet from it. Secondly, there were little round holes in my bedsheets. Cigarette burns? Stains that were cut out by the staff with scissors? Who knows. Thirdly, my son stayed in the room next to us and, for the same price, had a refrigerator in his room (and not old, unfitting sheets). It was in the upper 90s and we desperately wished we could have kept cold water in the room. When I mentioned the sheets, the cleaning staff actually laughed out loud. Very strange. I get the feeling Hotel 24 used to be a high class place, but has lost its charm. Lastly, not every place serves breakfast, but for the record, they charged $15 per person for the same breakfast we got free at the less expensive hotel we stayed at closer to DC (which one would expect to be more expensive than Staunton). So, not worth the money.

Yelp
Walkable area to some amazing locally owned restaurants and shops. And to Gypsy Hill park. Clean, pet friendly hotel is super comfortable. Great service!

Cappy D.

Yelp
Very unremarkable. Historic decor and downtown location do not make up for tiny rooms (no ventilation in bathroom) and outdated furnishings. $15 breakfast option was a joke--standard grocery store quality bagels, granola, etc. No better than what I've experienced at the free breakfast buffet at other hotels. The advantage was I could just walk down the street to Cranberry Gro and get a really good cup of coffee and organic scrambled eggs, fruit and multigrain toast for less money. Check in and check out both took forever because there was only one front desk person in each case, who was making a phone reservation while letting the actual guests who were already there stand and wait. I had prepaid for my room--all I needed was directions and a key. Not a good customer service strategy.

Yelp
EXCELLENT STAY! We stayed at this beautiful hotel this past week from Wednesday to Friday. Josh the front desk attendant treated us with such kindness & professionalism. We would highly recommend to anyone who wants to be in the heart of downtown Staunton to stay here. It's close to the Virginia Scenic Railway Station & Restaurants and shops. Ian & Gigi Bailes

Yelp
Beautiful hotel excellent staff and a convenient location very walkable. Little city hotel was clean. Bar staff was fantastic. Breakfast staff was fantastic. The only downside I can remember it being that because I booked on Expedia for some reason they could not give me a receipt which I found very inconvenient, but other than that comfortable and safe and clean

Yelp
Really nice rooms in a convent, centralized location. Room was clean, and parking is convenient with it's own elevator right to the lobby. Although during our stay, the parking lot arm was broken, so it wasn't the best feeling of security in the garage. One thing that holds it back was the breakfast - it was underwhelming and a little pricy for what's here. Skip the restaurant and go to one of the smaller places to eat.

Yelp
We have stayed at this hotel 3 times over a span of 5 years. Check in is always easy whether we are traveling with or without our dogs. The lobby is always clean, put together and welcoming. The checkin staff is efficient and able to answer any questions you have. The hotel could not be in a better location is is such easy access to downtown! Literally a half a block walk and you are on their gorgeous street that is the heart of their town. The local area is safe and easy to navigate. We have checked in in the middle of the night while on a long road trip and in the afternoon. Each time the hotel and parking garage we felt perfectly safe navigating, loading and unloading luggage. The parking garage is easy to access from the hotel via elevators. The parking spots in the garage are a bit tight so the better parker in the family will want to do the parking :) Luggage carts are readily available and do the exact job we need them to when loading and unloading the cars. We have always found the hotel nice to sleep at and never had any issues with noise waking us. The town as well is a bit sleepy after sundown so there is never much traffic noise The rooms are nicely appointed and as depicted in photos. The tvs works for us with no issues. The beds while I worried they would be uncomfortable they were not. We slept well and I did not wake with any aches or pains. They are spring beds so you will move some when someone you are sharing a bed with rolls over. More so than a memory foam mattress. I did find the sheets scratchy but I have sensitive skin and it could also have been disinfectant or a cleaner used on the sheets. This would not deter me from returning but I would wear long sleeve night shirt there in the future. There are ice makers on every floor in case you are traveling with a cooler that needs to be refilled with ice. A complimentary breakfast is offered but we have never made it to the breakfast.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Hotel was beautiful and....the AC unit was so loud it shook the bed and kept us up the better of two nights. The front desk sent maintenance, who said they tightened it, but honestly one of the loudest AC units I could imagine.

Yelp
A hotel bar, but of the 19th Century Variety. Never tawdry, always classy. I have visited for years, both as an outlander and a local. It drips in history, is well and expertly staffed, and is next door to the theater. After dinner, before or after a show, or if you are staying in the hotel, I recommend without reservation ad a civil place to enjoy a drink. Forgive them COVID challenges. They will overcome.

Yelp
I usually stop overnight in Staunton when I'm driving up north and I've stayed here about three times now. The hotel is nice -- historic, so the rooms are quite small. But the location is great and very walkable. It has parking garage connected to it that only costs $7 per day. Most importantly, it's a dog friendly hotel with a reasonable pet fee: $50 per room per stay. So even though I have two dogs, I only had to pay the $50 once. (Some of their competition in the area will charge $50 per pet and for a one night stay that's just ridiculous). I can't say I'm blown away by the Covid precautions being taken. Disappointed but not surprised, if you will. The staff I saw were masked up but when I stayed here in August I was very alarmed by the fact that a wedding was happening in a private room off the lobby and people were running around with no masks. It was my first time traveling in months so it was a little jarring how comfortable people were being maskless and hopping in elevators with strangers. I was hesitant to stay here again last month, but given the pet fee situation it was still the best choice for me. Thankfully I had a better experience this time -- I suppose the guests were just more respectful than the ones in August. I'm sure I'll be back next time I make the drive to NJ!

Yelp
I attended the Salvation Army lunch a few weeks ago and the food was delicious! The ball room was beautiful and presentation was great. Special shout out to amazing chef, Geoff Starcher!

Yelp
A Staunton Icon. Finally booked a stay here after many years of gazing longingly at their "front porch" rocking chairs. Nearing its 100th birthday, this hotel is stately but subdued in it's lobby and more austere in it's hotel rooms. The lobby holds a bar and a small dining area (serving a breakfast buffet on weekends) along with free coffee, tea, a piano and comfy seating. My queen-queen room had all the essentials but felt lacking in luxuries. There was no refrigerator or microwave and the toiletries provided were very basic. The bed was firm but fairly comfortable and the walls seemed to be thicker than your typical hotel room which did allow me a good night of sleep. My favorite thing about staying at Hotel 24 South was the location. After parking my car in the attached garage at check in, I didn't move it for 3 days. So much of "downtown" Staunton is within a half mile of the hotel. Overall, this is a solid hotel choice for a weekend spent (out of your hotel room) exploring the town!

Yelp
Very nice stay in a neat little town. One block away from the Main Street. Room was nice and staff was accommodating .

Judi H.

Yelp
From the standpoint of a single female traveler, I did not enjoy this hotel at all. It took three tries for my room keycard to work, and the front desk did not offer any sort of comp for that. There were no bar stools at the bar, just tables, and I felt conspicuous dining alone on a Friday night. I could hear the people in the room next door to me, which I found unusual for a supposedly upscale hotel. The whole place had a weird vibe to me.

Andrew J.

Yelp
Worst hotel experience I have ever had: I arrived at the hotel 24 to check in. I walked up to the desk and the lady gives me a key to my room. I go to the room, swipe the card, open the door, AND THERE WAS SOMEONE IN THERE. I couldn't speak. I just rushed back to the desk. What happened was she gave me a room she just gave to someone else. How could you let this happen? The danger that both of us could've been in. Also, the machine that programs the room keys is just sitting out on the desk. And I've been around the lobby a lot to see that no one is around the desk sometimes. It would be very easy to just pick up a room key and push a bunch of numbers. I wouldn't even have to walk around the desk. They need to do better about securing the hotel. Other than the really bad security practices, the rest of the hotel is mid. Their food kinda sucks. I had the driest chicken I've ever had. The hotel itself is clean, but some other things that turned me off: 1. The sheets didn't cover the whole mattress. There was no fitted sheet, so a large amount of the mattress was exposed. 2. The TV in the room is ancient. 3. In my room, the windows look out over a roof, and I can see into the room next to me. (Make sure if you stay here you close the curtains immediately). 4. The parking garage has vehicles that are stored here long term. (One of them is extremely dusty and has probably 100 penises finger drawn into the dust). I would stay here again, but I'd seek out other options first.

Yelp
This is a lovely place for a few days of R&R. Great that it was re-named from Stonewall Jackson Inn -- as an African-American I would not have stayed at a hotel with that name! My husband and I stayed for two nights with my teen-age son. Although the rooms are on the smaller side the prices were so reasonable we were able to give him a room to himself and have our own personal space. I hope to go back in post-Covid times to spend so more days exploring the area and I will use this as my go-to place.

Jerry L.

Yelp
I was very disappointed when I realized that the hotel I had wanted to stay in for years had gone through a name change for "wokeness ". Shame on the owners. The Stonewall Jackson Hotel was a historic component of Staunton. I was also disappointed in some of the amenities that were offered. The coffee was horrid, the website stated a "grab and go" breakfast but that was replaced by an expensive buffet. On a positive note, the gentleman working in the bar was great. He said he was the Food and Service manager. He was knowledgeable and did a great job in the bar. I will say that it was the only highlight of my stay.

Jim S.

Yelp
Really lovely, historic hotel in the center of Staunton with exceptional customer service. The rooms are very clean, as are the hallway rugs, lobby, etc. The breakfast was exceptional- great eggs, bacon and sausage, and plenty of breads and pastries for those preferring a lighter fare. The thing that really stands out is the genuine kindness and courtesy of the entire staff. From the front desk, to the food service folks to the room cleaning staff, all were pleasant, very friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful and understanding. Special thanks to Theresa, who brought up a whole new set of linen at midnight after our dog had an accident on the bed. Really a wonderful hotel, with wonderful people running a modern, quality establishment with good old fashioned exceptional concern for the guests.

Yelp
Beautiful Historic Hotel So happy we found this beautiful historic gem in old downtown Staunton. Recently renovated and beautifully done. Walking in and seeing the lobby with a grand piano and gorgeous ambience wow. Staff was friendly and courteous. Checkin and checkout was efficient. Hotel is pet friendly with pet rooms. Free WiFi worked well but not secure. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Nice clean bath area. Only draw back was no refrigerator or safe. Excellent breakfast buffet with an omelette station. Parking is in the garage next door for $7.50 per night. Highly recommend and would most definitely stay here again.

Diane H.

Yelp
Our stay at Hotel 24 South was great. We had the 2 room suite in the old building and our granddaughter had her own private room and bath with a connecting door. Both rooms were very spacious, clean, bright, airy and the beds were comfortable. Our room had a sofa, chair and desk area. It also had a refrigerator. The 2nd room had a Murphy queen size bed, as well as another sofa, chair and desk area. The Blackfriars theater is just next door and everything is in walking distance. We grabbed a light dinner in the lounge since the dining room was not open, and had the breakfast buffet the next morning. Both were good and convenient. Our car remained parked in the garage for $7.50. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Katya M.

Yelp
Just to be clear, this hotel quasi-renamed because it used to be named the Stonewall Jackson Inn. That name is STILL all over the hotel - from the pens at reception to the phones in the rooms. If you don't want to support that nonchalant BS, I encourage you not to stay here. I wish I had realized this before I arrived. Separately, the lobby smelled like smoke, the room smelled like a locker room, and the hot tub was closed. To be fair, other than that, the room was clean and the lobby receptionist was very kind.
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
A beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Great value! Coffee maker in the room which is very important to me! Would stay here again.
google avatar

Mr. K.

Yelp
Very convenient location, elegant lobby. The room was clean, modern and functional, though cramped. I wish they'd have put some decent coffee in the room - that Wolfang Puck stuff they have is probably expensive and as coffee goes, it's just awful. There's a very decent bakery and coffee shop one street over (Reunion?), you might find yourself there for a decent cup.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful hotel. We found it on BringFido and we're SO impressed. It's the first hotel we have ever stayed in with our dog and it made us think we can do road trips in the future. All dogs are on the 4th floor (laminate floors rather than carpet) but just lovely!!!! Would totally stay here again

Yelp
This is my second time staying at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel & it has become one of my favorite places to stay. The staff is always friendly & the hotel us beautiful & clean! It takes you back to the 1920's luxury. The lobby is beautiful with lots if seating. A bar overlooks the lobby & if you check in with Yelp you get 10% off! They also have a dini g room that serves breakfast only & it is a real treat!!! Park in the garage under the hotel & take the elevator up to the lobby. The rooms are spacious, clean & incredibly comfortable beds. It also has a spacious bathroom. The hotel staff are very friendly & accommodating as well. Hands down...a great hotel!

Yelp
Booked this hotel for an overnight the weekend of Oct. 16. I wanted to enjoy our stay, but customer safety during a pandemic was not a priority at Hotel 24 South. This establishment is not enforcing mask wearing, even with their own staff--I passed two members of the housekeeping team at different times and neither were wearing masks. Why? They're going into rooms to clean. Rooms where customers stay. I would never have booked this hotel if I had known that masks weren't a priority. It made me question the COVID prevention measures and actual cleanliness of the property, that along with the fact the there was urine on the back of the toilet around where the lid connects, and mildew in the shower. I cleaned the toilet myself, but for $266 for one night, I shouldn't have to worry about any of this. The front desk staff were very nice when we checked in as well as when our room keys didn't work properly later in the evening--they helped us very quickly, and they wore masks, thankful for that. This was our first stay at a hotel since the pandemic began, and I'm disappointed and upset as I feel that I put my family at risk bringing them to this establishment. P.S. They promised elsewhere to contact me and make it right...never happened.

Yelp
This hotel has been helping Habitat for Humanity for a long time. We have an artist doing a mural and they gave us a decent rate. I wouldn't ask a business to donate anything, because that's not their business plan. But they treat our people right at a fair price. I'll take that any day.
google avatar

Latrice R.

Yelp
We arrived here for a conference. The rooms appeared to be clean, however on the small side. The beds were comfortable. We were able to have free breakfast because we were here for a conference. The food was great with a full breakfast. I would have given the hotel 4 stars except the group that I am came with had a few issues. When two of my team members went to check out, the found the cleaning staff in their room throwing away some of their personal things. Check out was not until noon, and my team members still had their keycards to their room. There was not an apology given for this error. The staff acted poorly in communication and laughed about the situation. In addition, the first night. There was a smell of gasoline on the floors. We alerted the staff but appeared to be nonchalant about the issue. This is a beautiful facility with unprofessional staff. I would not revisit on a personal vacation.

Yelp
No complaints! Room was clean and easy to check in! The area is so freaking gorgeous and everything is within walking distance! I was on a work trip and couldn't charge beer to my room on my bosses card. Dude man hooked us up and placed my card info and charged me in the morning! I will be back with my kids and husband for a weekend trip!

Yelp
Great location, reasonable prices and really friendly staff. They are very attentive to any issues/concerns/questions you may have, and Peggy the front desk manager really did a great job and was so nice! It's a great place to come with dogs -- they provide you with lots of treats. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Good hotel in Staunton, conveniently right next door to the reason we come to town (the Blackfriars American Shakespeare Center theater). It is pricey, but classy, and good value for the money considering the location and the market. There are cheaper hotel options, but you have to go farther out of town, and I can't speak to their quality; the bed and breakfast type options in downtown Staunton are cheaper, but nowhere near as good. Our bed was big and comfy. Unlike he B&B at which we stayed previously, the AC worked well, and the bathroom was clean and without fault. The breakfast buffet included in our rate was good enough. And parking was convenient, in the garage behind the hotel, with direct access to the hotel, and hotel guests park for free. Oh, also, the lobby is classic, fancy and comfortable all at the same time.
google avatar

Charleton F.

Yelp
Meh, for the 200.00 plus price on a Friday night. Rooms appear to have been updated and was clean. In the King room, bathroom is dinky, beds was comfortable, but extra sitting area very jammed in. Very little space to do any research, work etc. Coffee choice in lobby is way below average, for 200 a night I'd expect morning coffee to be complimentary, instead, it's two dollars and is dispensed from a machine and was awful. Hopefully they'll upgrade this in the future. Overall, overpriced for amenities offered. Just found out that same machine is used in restaurant too. Arg! Order tea.

Joseph D.

Yelp
Great renovated old southern hotel. The hotel is located near numerous restaurants in historic Staunton. The hotel bar is quaint but Emily the bartender makes up for it with well mixed beverages. Recommend a stay here if you are passing through or visiting Staunton.

Yelp
I had to stay here a year ago for a wedding and I was very reluctant to do so because of the name. I have a foster son who is African American. His family is from the Richmond and Lynchburg area. The thought of bringing a child whose ancestors were enslaved in that very part of Virgina to stay in a hotel named in honor of a man who fought to keep them enslaved was a tough one to swallow. I went because I didn't want to cause a family issue during a wedding, but I am so happy the name has been changed. The hotel is lovely; the staff is friendly and attentive; and now the name is welcoming to all. THANK YOU!
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
This hotel is not the Four Seasons - however it is probably the best hotel in this part of Virginia. Pros - Staff was competent. Easy parking Room was clean and a decent size Cons - No doorman (at least when I was there) My bed was right by the door. It was so close that I was awoken at 1am by people walking down the hall late. The name of the hotel. I know this isn't Northern Virginia, but it is 2015 for God's sake. I am sure that Stonewall was probably rolling around in his grave knowing that someone who looked like me was staying at his hotel - but thank God I saw no angry ghosts.

Yelp
During a recent trip to the Shenandoah Valley to take in the fall colors we stayed at this historic hotel located in downtown Staunton. The hotel was renovated in 2005 to modern standards but has retained it's rich architectural history. The room, while small, was clean, well decorated and had a fantastic bed that provided a great night's sleep. Some modern conveniences were present in the room including a Kurig coffee maker; however if your in need of a small refrigerator..no dice! The hotel's location is perfect, situated in the middle of downtown and within walking distance of several great restaurants, local shops and not to mention a crown jewel right next door..The Blackfriars Playhouse. The hotel staff were courteous and professional and while the price of the room was somewhat high, it is worth your hard earned money. So if your looking for a hotel with historic roots, conveniently located to great downtown Stanton restaurants and next door to a Shakespearean playhouse..this is your gem!

Yelp
Very disappointed. Dirty carpet-- bits of trash all over up amd down halls. Needed vaccuming. Dusty and dead bugs scattered about in room. Unpleasant fella at the guest counter when we checked in but later a much more delightful fella. Dont let the long hair fool ya; Robert is five star quality!!! Hopefully the hotel will keep him and hire more like him as well as a full time cleaning staff who actually do thier jobs to keep the hotel cleaner. what a shame. The renovation IS lovely but the daily upkeep is lacking. I heard rumors that the troubles started a few months ago... After some confusion from staff, we choose to eat downtown at Cranberries. It was only a short walk up the sidewalk from the parking garage of Stonewall Jackson Hotel. WORTH it.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to arrive and see how GRAND this hotel is! A recent $21 million renovation has restored this nearly century old hotel to its glory. Located atop a hill in historic Staunton, with a parking garage and the American Shakespeare Theater next door, it's walking distance to 100 quaint independent shops and dining establishments, not to mention the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and birthplace, which is 1 block away. Gorgeous hotel, about 30 rocking chairs on the front porch, grand lobby, clean, spacious, lovely rooms, indoor heated pool, fitness center, and the only working 1924 Wurlitzer organ in the world. This is my new favorite hotel and my new favorite town. Unfortunately the hotel loses a star for the unprofessional front desk staff. The young lady who checked us in was wearing flip flops and was clueless. Everything we asked her about the town proved false. When we checked out, a young man with a "front desk supervisor" name tag responded to my thanks with a "no problem". He looked like he hated his job. I get friendlier service at McDonald's. Stauton did a great job bringing this hotel back to glory. Please hire trained front desk staff who act as professionally as this place deserves. The current staff belong at the Motel 6. Everything else about this hotel is 5 stars.

Yelp
I think it's worth mentioning that renovations have just been completed as of late March 2018. I was lucky enough to stay in a renovated room a few months ago and it didn't disappoint. And now in April, without any issues. Very pretty and contemporary, but not modern. (There's a diff.) Nonetheless, this hotel is your best bet in Staunton. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is not free but really good. Parking is $6 and the parking garage elevators are slow as molasses -- you need to know. Otherwise, I actually love staying here. Even without the full-length mirrors, which is weird to not have, tbh.

Yelp
Pros: Pet friendly, good location, nice lobby, good customer service (especially the guy who greeted us at the breakfast buffet) Cons: Pet fee is $50 which was more than half of what we paid for the room -room itself is fairly small -shower curtain and liner needed replacing -marks all over the walls and doors -the hallways and stairwells are extremely muggy and hot -breakfast buffet was mediocre -very thin comforter -no refrigerator in the room We saw other dogs on our floor so I'm assuming we were on a pet friendly floor however that doesn't mean it shouldn't be kept up. Overall the experience was okay and if you're just stopping through the area overnight it's a good place to stay.

Yelp
Love this place. It's close to all the amenities and they serve a wonderful breakfast. The rooms are comfortable. But at $229 a night, I would expect that there not be mold on the shower curtain. I have posted a photo.

Yelp
I had wanted to stay here since they renovated the place, and my husband reserved a room for us for my birthday, which happened to be Christmas Eve. We found out before we checked in that the restaurant was going to be closed for Christmas. We were supposed to have breakfast included with our room, but don't see how this was supposed to happen without the restaurant. When my husband called to cancel our reservations, they didn't even ask why. Later on another review site the manager informed us this and that restaurant would be open, etc. If the person handling the cancellation had bothered to ask why we were cancelling this could question could have been answered and we would have stayed. This beautiful and historic hotel experience is being ruined by incompetent (or indifferent) staff. I no longer my out of town/state visitors to this hotel.

Yelp
Nice hotel right in the middle of downtown, room was very clean and very nice.Rooms are a bit small but we were only there for one night so it was just fine. It was just a minute walk to downtown main area were there was plenty of dining options i would stay here again if in the Staunton area.

Yelp
I stayed here for a couple nights, and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is situated right in downtown, making it easy to get to all the various shops and restaurants. Everyone was friendly, and I enjoyed the restaurant in the hotel, as well. Rooms aren't as large as some chain hotels, but the bed was huge and very comfortable. I'd love to stay here again sometime because the town has a very nice charm.

Yelp
An oasis in the desert after a long day hiking in the blue ridge mountains. We made the decision to get a hotel room instead of making a five hour drive home and called the hotel for a reservation. They gave us a fantastic rate (better than what we saw online). Check in was no-fuss and the front desk lady gave us an amazing map with dinner recommendations. The hotel is gorgeous, welcoming, charming, and clean. Our hotel room was amazing. The bed was luxuriously soft. Free wifi. Quiet. We had a corner room that gave us three windows and a view of the hotel's balcony. Extra $6 for parking in the attached garage with in & out privileges. Incidentally, the hotel is right next to the famous local Shakespeare theater and very close to the Woodrow Wilson museum & presidential library. Right across the street from Staunton coffee & co. About one block away from the main historical Staunton thoroughfare. Five blocks from the glass blowing company. We unfortunately didn't originally plan to visit Staunton for our trip so we didn't have the time to really explore the area, but everything was so close to the hotel, we were able to get in a morning stroll before leaving town.
