Hotel 88 - Jl. Embong Kenongo

No windows, very small room + small bed, noisy, cigarette smoke comes inside the room: Unfortunately I can't recommend this hotel. The rooms don't have windows and are very very small. The pictures in the internet are VERY misleading, it looks way better than it is in reality. I booked "Superior King" and a king bed was promised, but it's only a Queen-size bed there. Not good for a family, it's just too small. The room is clean, the AC works but no daylight because the room doesn't have any window, it's very depressing inside. It's only to sleep there, not to stay there. In the night we couldn't sleep because it's very noisy. Until late we could hear the music which was playing on every floor, until midnight we heard doors were slammed loudly, people running and talking in the hallway. Also the smell of cigarette smoke came inside the room often during the night which is very unpleasant for a non-smoking room. The breakfast tasted good, but we needed to wait 1h until we could eat because it's too crowded in the breakfast room. It's not possible to eat inside the room as a family because there is no space. When we finally got a table our child used the baby chair. Suddenly the table from the baby chair fell off, very dangerous, our child almost fell down. One small plate fell down to the floor during this accident and broke. The staff asked us to pay 50k IDR for the broken plate which is ridiculous! We originally booked for 3 nights to spend our holiday in Surabaya. But after all this inconvenience we decided to move to another hotel after one horrible night. I wanted to give 1 star but the staff is really very friendly and caring. There is free drinking water on every floor as well, which is very good and also the location is quite strategic I guess. So I give 2 stars but I still can't recommend someone to stay there for a relaxed holiday, that's just not suitable.

It’s a descent place for a transfer accommodation if you travel via Juanda Airport. Small room with no facilities. But breakfast is very good with a variety of dishes, including freshly made stuff.

I stayed here for 1.5 nights before catching a tour, and checking out at 11:30pm was no problem. It's close to some city attractions and shopping malls, although crossing streets on foot in the neighborhood is dangerous and inconvenient. The room was basic but clean. Wifi was strong but air con was too weak. I had to use ear plugs at night, with lots of noisy people in the hallway. Overall, an average experience and appropriate for the price.

We stayed here for three nights, using it as our base. The location was convenient and easy to reach. The 24/7 reception service was helpful, and the staff, although not very fluent in English, were friendly and accommodating—we had no trouble communicating. Our room was clean and spacious enough for us. One standout feature was the glass partition separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom, something we appreciated since this setup is uncommon in Indonesia. Also, the bed was very comfortable, big, and had 2 pillows per person. However, we encountered a few drawbacks during our stay. The biggest issue was noise. On our first night, we had to call reception at 2 a.m. due to loud neighbors. While the staff assured us they would check on the situation, they never followed through. Another downside was the breakfast selection, which consisted entirely of Indonesian dishes. While this might suit local guests, Western travelers may struggle to adapt to the offerings, and vegetarians will find very limited options. Additionally, the room had a strong tobacco odor, which made sleeping uncomfortable. As non-smokers, waking up with a cough every morning was frustrating. It's surprising that in 2025, smoking is still allowed not only in the corridors but also inside the rooms themselves. On a positive note, the hotel provides free cold water in the hallways and reception area, which is a great convenience. Instead of relying on plastic bottles, we could refill our own thermoses, which we really appreciated. Overall, our stay was good but not outstanding. While the hotel has some commendable aspects, such as cleanliness and location, the noise, breakfast options, and pervasive cigarette smell were notable downsides. We'd rate it an 8 out of 10

All great. The rooms are clean, the food are good, and service is good. The minus is only the hardship to find food shops around it. Well, there is delicious siomay Bandung a couple steps from the hotel, but no other options. After all, love to stay at this place.

Very clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Warm, professional welcome. Just one small problem: the staff speak extremely loudly in the corridors very early in the morning. Which is disturbing. Otherwise, we recommend this very well located hotel.

3rd time stay here and its get better .fast response service from staff ,special Thanks to Nessa and Jesse. Will stay longer next time

Please gave consistent information. Recheck and refresh your OTA detail information. Recheck and make sure the room ready to used before guest arrive. Even small mistake could make someone unpleased stay at your hotel again and ruined everything.|
