Abalú Boutique & Design Hotel, a Design Boutique Hotel Madrid, Spain

"Hotel Abalú is located 400 metres from Gran Vía Avenue in central Madrid. It is a boutique hotel offering avant-garde design and the possibility of pre-selecting the scent of your room. All rooms at the Abalú have been individually designed. They all have air conditioning, heating and a TV. Suites come with a home cinema and Mac laptop. Staff at the hotel Abalú’s 24-hour reception can help to plan your stay in Madrid. There is also a bicycle rental service and an airport shuttle service on request. The hotel is well-located in Madrid's trendy Malasaña area and just a 5-minute walk from the lively Chueca district. Both areas are full of popular restaurants and bars. Plaza de España is just 400 metres away, and the alternative Fuencarral Market is a 5-minute walk from the Abalú." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Very good staff, Big lobby and Unique restro, and it’s nice to get the option of a jacuzzi in the room for a reasonable price. The room wall designs are quirky and comfortable but could use a bit of refurbishment (mainly our jacuzzi could do with regrouting and the mattress platform was a bit loose) but everything was hygiene and clean. Our room was a good size and looked out into the centre of the building (no ‘view’) but this is common in Madrid and they’d added some stylish lighting.

As seen in the pictures, this room costs 265 euros in mid-March and is in this condition. Ridiculous. Arrogant receptionist. Complete inflexibility on their part. An overly complicated and laughable check-in procedure. The room is in terrible condition—the walls and plumbing are a disaster. On top of that, the room faces a dark hole, for this amount of money. The jacuzzi is unusable because there's no drain plug, the headrest is broken and just left in the tub, and it’s unbearably loud, which must be a nightmare for the neighbors—not something you’d want. The only wardrobe in the entire room is the one shown in the picture, where two people are supposed to store all their clothes. There isn't even a table, a drawer, or anything to put your things on, open a laptop, or sit anywhere besides the bed. The furniture and walls are worn out, the air conditioning unit is rusting, and from below, this is the "beautiful" view you get to look at. This place isn't worth a cent. No one should even think about booking here.

Nice, clean, well located hotel. I stayed one night only. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The room had an eclectic decor. I liked it.

A Hostel masquerading as a hotel. Paid 290 Euros per night for a room with gym matt flooring , a window that doesn’t close and visible dust everywhere , so that you wake up with a stuffy nose and sneezing like crazy. Let’s not even talk about that “jacuzzi bath” it’s mouldy, I missed my slippers. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

Booked last-minute rooms here after our AirBnB lost power. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Our room faced the courtyard, so it was nice and quiet. GREAT location - plenty to do/see/eat all within walking distance.

We stayed at the hotel in early September and it was still very hot. + The location is perfect to explore the city. + LGBTQIA+ friendly + Pet friendly + Card payment + Staff was nice + AC ~ The interior design is a mix of steampunk, industrial and Greek / Roman kitsch. - the water in the shower just didn't get hot

This is one of those hotels that try to whoo you with nice decor but gets the basics wrong. First, it's located in a hip neighborhood with lots of bars and restaurants. That's good but it comes with the drawback of noise. The room I had was basic, with nice decor but no view of any sort and hardly any sun. In terms of basics, the toilet door did not close properly and the shower wasn't warm enough. They didn't even have a place to hang towels next to the shower. The faucet looked nice artistically but the handle got stuck when you turned it. There was no closet, only a hanger in the room and the TV did not have English channels. Wifi kind of worked. There was a coffee machine but only 2 coffee pods for 2 days I stayed there. They did a nice touch by leaving complimentary water in the room and pastries and fruit every morning at the door but for the price you're paying for the room, that's the least they can do. Overall, it's a budget level hotel in a noisy neighborhood with average dark rooms with no amenities but with premium prices.

An amazing little boutique hotel in a great part of town. Lots of interesting cafes nearby, a walk away to Gran Via, Abalu is surprising as it’s funky and fun decor and Alexa playing music as you enter and great big pink flamingos in your bathroom near your jacuzzi tub! Really enjoyed our stay, excellent service. The only issue we had was that they seem to have issues with their plumbing as drainage in tub and sink was very slow.
