Abi d'Oru Beach Hotel&Spa (Costa Smeralda, Sardinia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Sardinia’s Emerald Coast is nothing if not aptly named — this lush and wild stretch of coastline is like nothing on Italy’s mainland. Here a hotel like the Abi d’Oru can lay claim to enough land to contain some 150 rooms and suites, divided among a number of hexagonal pavilions, separated by Mediterranean gardens and paths leading to a white-sand beach. It’s modernist in concept, though classic in style — the hotel dates to the Sixties, and its modular layout affords plenty of privacy for the accommodations." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The beautifully maintained garden is a dream – spacious, full of charm, and designed with great attention to detail, featuring benches, cozy nooks, and hammocks. The pool area was also lovely, with comfortable loungers and very attentive service. Overall, the service throughout the hotel was excellent – the entire staff was friendly, courteous, and customer-focused. The breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. Our Deluxe Garden Room was fine in terms of layout, with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. However, the private garden area was disappointingly narrow and therefore not usable. Both check-in and check-out were handled very smoothly. Although our room wasn’t ready upon arrival, we were offered a guest room to change in so we could already enjoy the pool. We greatly appreciated that the same courtesy was extended to us on the day of departure, allowing us to shower and freshen up before leaving. There are, however, two points of criticism: The prices for alcoholic drinks are extremely high and, in our opinion, not justified. The bathroom did not meet a five-star standard: there were no hooks for bathrobes, no towel racks, no cosmetic mirror, and very limited counter space for toiletries.

We stayed at this hotel for a week between September 3 and September 9 and had a fantastic time. The hotel and grounds, including the facilities, are well maintained and in very good condition. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent throughout. The food is fantastic and leaves nothing to be desired. The beach is great and also suitable for families. The hotel is not adults-only, but the younger guests were not disruptive at any point, and the hotel has an adults-only area for dinner. The hosts at dinner in both restaurants are great – a big shout-out to Debby! On the day of arrival, we were upgraded to a better room category at a very fair price and did not regret the decision. It's important to note that Sardinia is generally a more expensive island. The prices for drinks are high, but the service and quality are truly outstanding and justify the price. We can recommend the hotel especially for visitors who really want to relax, enjoy a lot of time on the beach, and are simply looking for a place to unwind. We'll be back next year!

The room we had was 357. Without doubt, this is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at! Large room with plenty of storage space and a plentiful terrace, with 2 loungers and a cuddle chair. The staff are ever so nice, Debby at the breakfast / evening dining space is just so lovely. Given we were in a 5 star hotel (something very unusual for us), we were surprised at how welcome we felt. Even though we were probably the 'poorest' there, but this was a treat for our honeymoon! We came end of September into October and ventured out, even still alot of shops had already closed for the end of the season, which was disappointing. The hotel is quite far from areas, so getting a car for some adventures is key if you're not the chill out and relax all holiday person. The beach is absolutely incredible 🥰 again clean, soo soo clear and having the private area means no paying for sunbeds. The sunbeds are sturdy and clean. The beach bar is expensive, like the food at the hotel, so be very prepared to spend a fortune!

Amazinig hotel right on a beautiful sandy beach with crystal green waters.|upon arrival the staff were very welcoming and made you feel at home straight away. we had a lovely premium suite with huge balcony terrace overlooking the sea and pool. great service throughout the hotel, food was fabulous in all the restaurants. The pool had a many hydrotherapy jets around the sides, but still very big for those who just want to swim in a beautiful heated freshwater pool. Fabulous terrace bar to start your evening with lovely piano music and singer. Cocktails were amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families, couples or just friends travelling together. There is something for everyone. Can't wait to go back. Just a 25 minute drive from Olbia

Me and my, now husband, stayed here at the end of September into the first week of October for our belated honeymoon.|It was very quiet and extremely clean.|BEACH|The private beach here was absolutely incredible! I've never known a sea so crystal clear, the sand was also very clear with hardly any large stones and seaweed. I imagine the team clear away a large portion of any seaweed, although, it'd not exactly seaweed like you would normally get in the med, it was more little flakes of it. |The team that provide towels and sunbeds are so very helpful. Taking you to a sunbed that you would prefer and setting it all out for you :-)|We visited the beach bar, which was rather expensive, albeit I've been told is the going rate for the area, but something to consider when only going B&B. ||POOL|The pool again, incredibly clean and very quiet. With members of the staff aiding with towels and getting sunbeds ready. |Pool bar is great for getting some light lunch, with the gelato and coffees being a massive hit for us. Probably the second best macchiato I've had! Deivis at the pool bar was such a lovely man, always more than happy to help with a smile and no feel that this was ever at all forced. ||BREAKFAST & FOOD|At breakfast there is a vast array of foods available. Hot scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, beans, courgette, mushrooms, sausage etc, with the option of having eggs cooked in a variety of ways, including an omelette. A wealth of fruit, cereals and yoghurts too. With the main attraction being the pastry selections, croissants, pain au chocs, vanilla filled rolls - just so many to be able to remember, but they were delightful.|We treated ourselves to an evening meal at the Mediterraneo restaurant, it was 80 euros per person, for a 4 course meal. For starters there is a buffet style array of foods, followed by first course, second course and dessert. It was by far one of the best 4 course sittings I have had the opportunity to experience. All savoury food dazzled my taste buds. BUT the dessert, oh.my.gosh - food for the soul!!|I would like to mention a particular lady called Debby, who was the most friendly there! I can't say I'm used to a 5 star hotel and she never ever made me feel inadequate or judged, always a smile on her face and very approachable. ||LOCATION|You are located away from any supermarkets, with the closest being in Marinella, which is around a 15 minute walk away. There weren't masses of trinket shops around, but part of that was probably due to us arriving as the season was closing down. |Porto Rotondo is around a 50 minute walk away, although the hotel does offer a shuttle van, which operates outwards twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Again, this might be different at other points in the holiday season. Also, this is the closest area that has a pharmacy, so just something to note. |There is a train station very close by, however the trains did not operate all that frequently - again could be due to being at the tail end of the season. However again, very very clean!|Taco's are rather expensive, to get to Olbia from the hotel was around 60 euros for a 20 minute ride - it is the going rate, so not something out of kilter. But something to consider when travelling to Sardinia as a whole.||Has to be said, that the hotel is great, without a shadow of a doubt I would have placed this at 5 stars, and would have been a strong 4.5, the only slight downfall was the location - which is something I probably should have researched beforehand.

I booked Hotel Abi d’Oru expecting a seamless 5-star experience, but several aspects were disappointing.||The good:|– Breakfast offered plenty of options and was excellent.|– The beach was beautiful, with chairs and towels readily available.|– All of the hotel’s restaurants served great food with attentive service.|– The restaurant and beach staff were consistently polite, helpful, and quick to assist.||The bad:|– On arrival, the room lock was broken. Maintenance partially fixed the bolt, but the electronic exterior lock was loose and couldn’t be properly repaired. Unfortunately, no alternative rooms were available.|– Management was dismissive when addressing issues, which negatively affected the stay.|– The fire alarm went off at 11 p.m. during my stay, which was very disruptive.|– Housekeeping didn’t consistently replenish toiletries, so I had to call for basic items.|– Housekeeping occasionally removed our robes without replenishing, which was inconvenient.|– The gym wasn’t usable in the morning, as the power had been switched off.|– For laundry, the only option for pressing a shirt was a full wash-and-iron service (around $20 per shirt). There were no irons available for guests, and only one communal steamer, quite limiting for a 5-star property.|– The beach area had persistent solicitation from local sellers, and the hotel didn’t seem to manage it.|– The drinks are overpriced, though that’s somewhat expected at a resort of this level.||Overall: The property has potential, but operational issues like these detract from the experience. At a five star level, I expected better preparation, consistency, and guest support.

This hotel has been a wonderful experience. The hospitality is unmatched. My group arrived very late due to a delayed flight and the hotel was beyond accommodating. Baha at the front desk was so helpful and made our check in process seamless. The rooms, food and beach are really nice.

We spent a wonderful day at Hotel Abi D'Oru's beach facilities and the experience was absolutely worth it.||The staff's kindness truly stood out—when one of our chairs was taken by another guest, they immediately upgraded us to a large, comfortable cabana without hesitation. This level of customer service and genuine care made all the difference in our day.||The beach itself is exceptional. The sand is the prettiest and softest along the entire stretch of coastline, with minimal seaweed, making it perfect for lounging and swimming. It's clear why this spot commands premium prices—the beach quality is simply outstanding.||The restaurant staff were phenomenal and lovely, providing excellent service with warm, welcoming attitudes that enhanced our entire experience.
