Hotel Acquarello Swiss Quality

Booked very last minute due to pre booked accommodation letting me down, arrived at the hotel 20 minutes later and received a warm welcome from the receptionist. Everything was explained clearly, the receptionist was pleasant and helpful. The lift was out of order but I was able to use the staff lift. The room was spotless the corridors are quite quirky, I liked them, very art deco - this hotel is obviously quite old, ancient beams in the breakfast room. My room had everything I needed, the pillows were amazing. The bathroom was brand new, with modern fixtures and fittings and despite reading another review which said the shower was small, mine was spacious! Breakfast was fine, lots of continental choice. You can park nearby overnight for 27 Swiss Francs.|I really think this hotel is underrated my stay was pleasant, welcoming and comfortable - I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Great Location From Lugano train station connect to TPL train beside pharmacy to the hotel directly. Within hotel is shopping haven. Retail stores , F&B, cafe etc and above all the beautiful lake Lugano. Hotel room was basic with view totally blocked. Breakfast choice very limited. Other than that all ok.

Right in the centre, next to the little cog train station. Very friendly staff, rooms were quiet and very clean, breakfast was fine. I can recommend this hotel, we had a 3 days stop over and also enjoyed the Christmas market.

An unfortunate first impression at check in with a receptionist that can’t smile, say hello or thank you. Quite a drab welcome. A ‘quaint’ property if you’re being nice. Rustic and outdated if you’re being honest. Could be overlooked if the service was friendly and charming, but this is absent. Bathroom door doesn’t lock! Very problematic with 5 people. Breakfast lackluster. Beds not so comfortable. Very small rooms. All perhaps more easily overlooked had the staff at least been charming.

Hotel is directly below the funicular so it is extremely convenient. However, it can be tricky to find. When you get off the funicular; turn right immediately don’t go down the hill. pass the jungle plants and you will see the sign to enter. Breakfast is very hearty. Also the funicular runs right through the hotel from very early to very late. If you are a light sleeper bring headphones, you will hear and feel it coming through.

I notice this hotel hasn't been reviewed for 2 years, which is a pity, as it's an excellent option in Lugano. We stayed there for only one night (unfortunately) as part of our Grand Train Tour of Switzerland and found it to be perfectly located, near the centre of the city and next door to the furnicular station. Do not walk down from the railway station to the hotel, catch the furnicular at the station and on arriving at the end, the hotel entrance is 50 metres away.|The room we had was a great size, overlooking the furnicular as it turned out and had plenty of space for suitcases, without tripping over them. A safe, free wi-fi, air con and a fridge were provided, as well as tea and coffee making facilities at a small charge. The one major flaw was the small shower, notwithstanding the excellent temperature and water pressure. It was difficult to turn around for almost any size adult and DON'T drop the soap!|Breakfast was cold options only, which is fine by us, but it was satisfactory only, without being anything special, which was a pity.|There was a nice lounge area with comfortable chairs and an internal garden setting outside, although I'm not sure if that was part of the hotel. Silvia at reception was so helpful and considerate. As guests, we each received a complimentary block of Swiss chocolate.

PERFECT location, great rooms, wonderful breakfast/service, and reasonable pricing. Tucked away in a corner at the bottom of the funiculaire (make a sharp right when you get off), it’s perfect for rapid arrival/departure from the train station. The rooms seem to have been renovated or remodeled very recently and are in wonderful condition, with sleek finishings, air conditioning, and a wonderful bathroom/shower. The service was great, with the included Ticino ticket making public transit free for my stay, and the morning breakfast service was sublime: the fresh juice, fruit, and croissant I had were the best I’ve had from hotel service. There’s also a luggage drop area with lockers available from 2 CHF. With such a prime location, you can walk around the bustling downtown within seconds, go for great shopping, eat at great restaurants, and be at the lake within minutes.

The cable car, that leads from the old town to the railway station is just one minute by foot, and you get free tickets in the hotel! a coffee machine and a fridge with water in each riim is included. With the new NEAT railway connection, you can reach this place from Zurich in less than 2 hours.
