Hotel Agua Escondida

"How did it strike you on arrival?Right in the heart of downtown, this welcoming hotel sits in a colonial building and has traditional Mexican decor. Nice. What’s the crowd like? The hotel is popular with couples and families both from Mexico and abroad. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The rooms are decorated traditionally with dark wood bed frames, rustic-looking furniture, and touches of color here and there. The standard-size rooms aren't particularly spacious, but they're still a good size. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The beds were comfortable but weren't anything special. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? Each room has a flat-screen TV, a hairdryer, and a fan for the hotter months. Unless you're tempted to lift the heavy wooden furniture, there's nothing of note to steal here. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathrooms are nicely tiled with a modern sink and a shower. The master suites have a tub in a large bathroom. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? There is free Wi-Fi across the entire hotel. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. There is a large and well-maintained pool at the hotel as well as a spa offering massages, facials, and more. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? This is a well-maintained hotel in the center of Taxco. Bottom line: worth it, and why? It's not too expensive, offers a good night of sleep, and is in a great location." - Susannah Rigg

What a marvellous hotel, superb location right at the Zocolo of Taxco. This hotel is like a maze sprawling over the whole street block at multiple levels. Beautiful swimming pool, large terraces and nicely appointed room which are charming and clean. Top of that this hotel has an outstanding restaurant serving top notch food. Highly recommend to stay in this hotel while in Taxco.

The location was great it was in the center of Taxco and had great restaurants nearby and the staff was super friendly it’s a 53 year old hotel but it’s got great technology and it’s very up to date

First of all, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. Also, we spent a ton of time up at the pool, and seemed to have the entire place generally to ourselves for our 3 day stay. Walking around the town was awesome, and a fun adventure.||The real star of the show is the Hacienda restaurant! The food was AMAZING. Each meal was like an explosion of taste and goodness. We are numerous breakfasts and dinners there, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff was accommodating and really cool too.

What a find! This hotel is absolutely incredible. It’s right directly off the main square in Taxco, so you are in the heart of the action - step out of the front door and there is the cathedral right in front of you! All the shops and restaurants you could ever want are a few steps away, including a great coffee shop right next door. However, our room was completely quiet and restful, with a stunning view right out of the window. Very clean, comfortable bed (although short for me - this is Mexico), lovely bathroom, and super helpful staff. There are a few staircases to deal with, but not sure if there is an elevator or not. One note: we walked from the bus stop (from CDMX) - there are taxis (VW Bugs), but the streets are very narrow and slow. Much easier to walk - about 15 minutes. Hotel restaurant was delicious and delightful, with lots of authentic and interesting dishes and drinks. Huge pool deck, although not much use in winter. Nice refreshing pool with towels, music, and a bar. And on top of it all, the prices were excellent!!

The hotel is perfectly situated on the main square of the vilage. The views from the roof terrace are stunning as is the location.|However there are many things that made this hotel a no go.|The most important is the noise. The hotel has many bars/discos beneath it and you can start sleeping only from 2 am onwards. The music is very loud and even with earplugs (provided by the hotel on your bed table) it goes on until very late.|Apparently, it is not only a part of the hotel since I was told that changing rooms would be useless.|Compared to this, the fact that hot water pressure in the shower doesn t exist, the rooms are old but not in the nice way, full of insects, no help with the luggage, no elevator...are just minor details in the overall experience.|I regret having booked this hotel since it ruined my weeked in this lovely village otherwise.|Hope it helps

We stayed here once and we like it very much. Even though it’s surrounded by very loud bars that play music the whole night even pass 4am. Last week my husband booked the master deluxe, for our second stay. The most expensive room for a special occasion. We arrived and we’re tired. But when we arrived the whole room was a mess. There was hair all over the floor and in the bathtub. All the tables had spots from drinks. Big hair clumps all over the place. Spots on the floor… it was a huge disappointment, we had to leave to an other hotel in the middle of the night as the other room they offered was much smaller, had no bathtub and was facing a patio with 3 big, barking dogs. We’ll not return. Such a beautiful hotel yet no decent cleaning management. For the prices they have, the rooms should be spotless. Some hostels have cleaner rooms, how is that possible

Visited during Dia de los Muertos weekend. It was a beautiful stay, perfect location as its right across the street from the Zocalo. Our room was nice and comfy, we opted for the suite with an outdoor balcony, perfect. The stairs though!!! Whew, lots and lots of stairs, we were exhausted by the time we reached our room. Service was excellent. Everything was pretty perfect. Would definitely stay again.

This place exceeded our expectations! Be sure not to miss out the restaurant, it's unique experience, probably the best Mexican food I've had!

Yelp
The location of this hotel is PRIME! In the corner of the main plaza of the Cathedral. This plaza is where most of the people end up walking around or sitting down to enjoy some ice cream. Also a great place to either people watch or take pictures. The hotel is a colonial house that was turned into a hotel. Because of this there is no elevator no AC. Good to keep in mind for the older folk. Our room was on the first floor and had a view . Room was small, but clean. They provided 2 bottled waters and toiletries. The staff was really nice and attentive. The hotels restaurant was good as well. They offer Sunday brunch that I would recommend.

Yelp
Hotel Agua Escondido has a few things that will grab you. It's a great place to bring kids, with a large pool, sweeping views, a game room with pool, ping pong and even a stationary car (like the toddlers ride at the super market) and a fantastic restaurant. Service is quite professional and quick. Our room was on the small side, but booking through third party travel sites, we weren't offered a choice. One of the best things about this hotel is the entrance is right on the Zocalo. The Zocalo is the place to relax and take in Taxco's charm. Because it is a large hotel, one does not get the charm and personal service found in smaller, more charming places.
