We just left the hotel this morning. We had a lovely stay. The staff was wonderful, our room was huge, especially for Europe. It was appointed beautifully as some of the picures up on this site show. The bathroom had 2 sinks, plenty of room and appointed beautifully. We also had a lovely terrace with a table/umbrella with 4 chairs and 2 lounge chairs. It was quite warm the 3 dayse we were there, so we spent time at night outside. ||The 'included' buffet breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Something for everyone and, of course fine china and linens. We ate outside but enjoyed cappucino, American coffee, and a wonderful assortment of cut up fruits (kiwi, grapefruit, and cantelope), cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants and numerous pastries, cereals, juices... you get the idea. So well done! We were surprised with the great quality. ||A few things you should know:|1. our room had a bathtub (only) with a water spray wand. |2. as we are finding in Italy, the toilet area had no door/no privacy (you do |get used to it)|3. it seems air conditioning is at a premium. The room was barely cool and the fact that you have to put your key in a slot in order to activate the electricity/air conditioning means it takes a while for it to 'cool'. The temperature never got below what felt like 75-76 F. The bathroom (I am finding in Itally these are just not airconditioned) was even warmer.|4. there were NO shelves for clothes, just hanging closets. So, unexpectedly, we lived|out of our luggage.|5. the hotel, aside from a lovely breakfast, has little else going on. There is a bar ('Bat Bar') that was unexciting, no gym, pool, etc. The 'lobby' had minimal seating. |6. there is both a front door and a 'back door', the latter where you can take a water taxi anywhere. A real luxury!||Despite the first 5 items, we would still go back as it was quaint, historic, well appointed (felt like you were living in the past), with a great staff and breakfast.
