Hotel Aiguaclara, Begur, Catalonia, Spain - Explore & Book

"'All you need is love / love is all you need' reads the banner in the hall, and it's obvious that lots of love and attention have been poured into this hotel. When Joan and Clara moved here from Barcelona with their family 10 years ago, they didn't employ legions of interior designers and stylists - they put their individual sense of style to work in creating something quite unique. From the mismatched colourful retro furniture in the bistro-style restaurant to the fairy lights and bright green hanging egg chair in the garden, this place has boho chic by the bucket load. Originally built by a merchant who returned to Begur from Cuba in the 19th century, history hasn't been papered over: bright tiles cover the hall floor, the ceilings are gloriously high, and the large doors on each level display prints of 19th-century Begur. This is a great base for exploring Catalonia. Just 5km away down a winding road bisecting pine-covered hills you'll find several beaches with bars and gin-clear water; pretty Girona is a 50-minute drive away, and some of the region's loveliest restaurants are an easy stroll from your front door. Highs Begur itself, a pretty medieval town perched high on a hilltop with winding, cobbled streets Great prices, especially because the bedrooms are all huge, with cool, quirky details; some have outdoor space, too The décor: you won't find it anywhere else, though there's a flea market shop on site so you can buy bits to imitate the style back home The atmosphere: young, friendly, relaxed and cool Great for families, with spacious rooms and communal areas, and lots of beach toys and beach towels to borrow Lows Driving in Begur isn't fun - the narrow streets and one-way system are stressful No pool, but there are fantastic beaches a short drive away There's no lift The nearby church bells are loud We don't recommend the Junior Double, which is downstairs and prone to noise" - Laura Dixon

"This property occupies a colonial - style house dating back to 1866. Small lounge, patio and charming guestrooms, each with their own personalised decor. The restaurant, offering a traditional à la carte menu, is divided into two sections with a chill - out area for tapas, and a simply furnished main dining room." - Tablet Hotels

Our experience at Hotel Aiguaclara was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Lucas provided great customer service very warm, personal, and genuinely attentive. He made us feel welcome and cared for, offering great local tips and ensuring every detail was perfect. The hotel itself is full of charm, with beautiful vintage décor that gives it so much character. The rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully designed, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. And the breakfast — simply amazing! Freshly baked pastries, delicious local products, and plenty of variety, all served in a lovely setting that makes mornings a real pleasure. Hotel Aiguaclara captures the perfect balance of comfort, old world charm, and authentic hospitality.

We loved this special hotel! It’s modern, yet located in an old house with much history. You’re on the edge of the old town. Easy to drive to Pals and other nearby towns as well as hike parts of Cami de Ronda. Definitely hike up to the castle close to sunset. The breakfast is incredible and we also loved dinner at the attached restaurant. Lucas and Susan are the best! They helped advise us on itineraries and restaurants. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel!!!

Stayed here in August 2025 Very friendly front desk staff, checked us in and gave us a map of Begur with major sights and recommended restaurants. The building is very rustic and clearly has a lot of history. We stayed in the apartment, which we didn't know was in a different building than the main hotel. This felt like a bit of a let down as we were actually staying in a different apartment building around the corner (1 minute walk) from the main hotel. Room itself was spacious, though a bit dated. Toilet had a flush issue. Hotel has a parking lot around the corner which has to be paid separately. Begur is very small, so walking around is very easy. Breakfast had limited options but everything was exceptionally good.

In the beautiful center of Begur, Hotel Aiguaclara is a fantastic place to stay. It's walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and crystal blue water beaches. There are challenging hiking trails both in the town and nearby (that's why I'm here). The service and provided breakfast are top-notch. The management and staff will bend over backwards to help make your stay memorable and excellent.

The hotel is located in the heart of Begur and housed in a beautiful building. You can also reserve a parking spot for €15/day. The parking lot is on a nearby street, with access via a private key. The owner of the hotel is very kind and attentive, and everyone we met spoke excellent English and was very polite. But the biggest highlight for us was the breakfast—truly outstanding! The service was impressively attentive; for example, if a croissant was missing, it was immediately replaced. I travel across Europe quite often, and this was the first time I experienced such a responsive and well-managed breakfast service.
