Our stay at AKA Alexandria Hotel was truly exceptional and one we will never forget. I traveled to DC with my daughter for her hip replacement surgery, and an unexpected winter storm extended our stay. What could have been stressful quickly became a blessing because of the extraordinary care, kindness, and professionalism of the AKA Alexandria team. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel genuinely supported and cared for. The staff went above and beyond—many even stayed at the hotel, away from their own families during the storm, to ensure guests were safe, comfortable, and well taken care of. That level of dedication and compassion is rare and deeply appreciated. The accommodations, amenities, and attention to detail were outstanding. The on-site cinema, wonderful food, and warm, welcoming atmosphere turned a difficult week into something memorable and comforting. It truly felt like a home away from home during a time when that mattered most. Leaving was hard, and I am incredibly grateful for the meaningful time I was able to spend with my daughter while staying here. If you are looking for a place that combines luxury, comfort, and heart, AKA Alexandria sets the standard. Thank you to the entire team for making such a lasting impact on our family.

I had an absolutely outstanding stay at the AKA Hotel in Alexandria, VA. From the moment I checked in, the service was exceptional. Nigel went above and beyond throughout the weekend to make sure I had everything I needed. He set the tone for a five-star experience. Isiah and Marvin were also incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home every time I walked through the lobby. The hotel itself has a luxurious yet comfortable atmosphere, everything was spotless, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. It’s also in a great location, making it both convenient and relaxing. One of the highlights of my stay was the private theatre, where I was able to screen the baseball game. Overall, my stay couldn’t have been better. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending AKA Alexandria to anyone looking for a top-notch stay with an exceptional team.

The staff was amazing. They all were friendly, very attentive and provided everything I asked for, the room was also very clean and spacious. This is a sophisticated, peaceful, and luxurious hotel. I enjoyed my bday weekend at this hotel and would definitely stay there again at a later date.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel AKA. The ambiance was calm and welcoming, and the location is in a quiet, beautiful area that made our trip even more enjoyable. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable ! I especially want to recognize Isaiah Frazier, the front desk manager. He was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive, and made sure everything about our stay went smoothly from beginning to end. His hospitality truly stood out and made us feel genuinely cared for. It’s rare to come across service like this, and it made a big difference in our overall experience. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

I will start with this, Marvin and Isaiah are two of the most authentic individuals I have ever met. Their goal was to make sure my wife and I had a memorable time for this quick little staycation and in no way, shape, or form did they disappoint. From the initial check in I felt I had made the right decision in booking this place. The ambiance in this place was amazing and the room I had for the weekend was perfect. From the lunch recommendation to the dinner at the hotel, there were no corners cut and they couldn’t miss. When I say Marvin and Isaiah are the epitome of customer service that’s exactly what I mean. They made sure my weekend was peaceful and relaxing and my wife and I didn’t want for anything. Honestly speaking, I have never had an experience at a hotel that made me feel this appreciative EVER, and we have travelled. LOL I can’t recommend this place enough and upon my checkout, I advised that we would be back very soon.

I stayed at this hotel in January and have been meaning to write a review. I have very high standards for hotels and Hotel AKA Alexandria exceeded every one. I normally use my own pillowcase and sheet but Hotel AKA Alexandria was so clean that I did not feel I needed to. The rooms are extremely spacious and feel modern, the beds are comfortable and everything is thoroughly cleaned. The bathrooms are updated, have great lighting. The staff is also extremely friendly and accommodating. I recently needed to travel back to the area for a work trip and was trying to make the stay at Hotel AKA Alexandria work. While I ultimately couldn't, the management team was EXTREMELY helpful and even tried to accommodate the needs I had. Luckily I'll be staying back here soon. For anyone visiting DC and considering staying here, it's well worth it. Hotels in DC are the same price, if not more, and most are filthy. 10/10

Very pleasantly surprised at the comfort and cleanliness of our room. The service was top notch from the front desk to the parking valet. It was a great experience all around. The price was great. Can’t think of a negative thing to say. Thanks for a great stay, we will be back!

The purpose of our trip was my son's business meeting last Friday. We arrived just before midnight on Thursday after a late arrival at Reagan Airport. Upon entering the lobby we found it to be disorienting. For example, the background of the front desk is a uniformly plain but glowing orange wall. It's quite dark in there as we approach the front desk. The field of vision is dominated by the silhouette of the check-in clerk in front of a glowing orange wall. The clerk was inappropriate throughout the check-in process. He went through the pages of my son's US passport and commented how my son “got around.” He asked if the origin of my son's surname was German. The clerk tried to address my bleak mood consistent with extreme fatigue. He emphatically asked me, “Can't you say something positive?” After processing payment, the clerk didn't give directions to the room, nor did he explain the extra $150 charged. There was no bill or paperwork given to us to explain the charges either. As we left the front desk, we realized that we were seemingly overcharged and that we couldn't find the elevator. As a result, we were forced to interact some more with the check-in clerk. He explained that the $150 extra was a security deposit of some sort. Rather than give us directions to the elevator as requested, he chose to personally escort us to the room. My son clearly asked him to not to come with us, but he insisted on escorting us instead of giving the requested directions. During the elevator ride he continued to be intrusive and inappropriate. For example, he asked me if I was a rabbi in addition to my chosen profession, which he already knew because I had submitted to his previous inquiries about me. Although the hotel was mostly vacant, the room he assigned was adjacent to the elevator, had a stained carpet, and the thermostat didn't work

The staff is amazing. Every single person was professional and warm! I loved my little amenity/thank you of healthy snacks and bottled water. I was there for a meeting. The meeting space is a bit like a blank slate...big gray blank slate but that means you can add decor for a special event. Our event didn't need that so it felt pretty nondescript just in those spaces. The rest of the hotel has plenty of arty personality. It's not a cozy atmosphere, more cool and impressive. We held a small reception in the lobby and it was perfect for hobbles and a bar cart! The hotel rooms are very spacious with steamer, espresso maker, upscale snack bar (for purchase). The best and most interesting elect was the bathroom sink/counter which was the entire length of the wall!

We like hotels. From the moment you walk in you feel like you're part of something more than a hotel. I don't know if it's the thoughtful art centric design, the staff, it's perfect location in Alexandria or all three, but as you make it up to your room you realize all of that was just the beginning. Well cleaned and kept rooms. Everything was thought of. Beds - yeah, you can't beat them. I have a WHOOP and have had a WHOOP for 200 days, and according to my WHOOP, three of my five nights at AKA were the best sleeps I've had in the last 200 days. It's beautiful. It's functional. It's quality. That matters.

From the moment I checked in, you turned a great stay into something extra special and deeply memorable. Thank you for everything. I can't recommend this hotel enough! Of all the hotels I've stayed at, all over the world, this was the best and most seamless experience I've ever had. Stayed a few nights but one night we took full advantage of the hotel and had charcuterie and champagne in the suite, then a delicious dinner with fantastic service and great drinks, and ended the night watching Monday Night Football in the theater room, which is awesome. The hotel feels brand new, is modern and spacious, clean and stylish. Rooms, amenities, food, ambience, value, check-in, location, ALL of the staff with another special thanks to Marvin and Christina and our sweet server at the lounge. 10/10 all around

What a beautiful hotel! Was able to stop by for a friends birthday celebration and was astounded by the beauty of the hotel. Entering the hotel, you're immersed in a dark and moody space that was also inviting. I grabbed a drink from the bar and they had a lovely selection of drinks and food. The service was quick and friendly. The event space was amazing. The space was large with lots of seating and a tv that you're able to use. It opened up to a beautiful outdoor space with beautiful plant life and more seating. While I didn't have a room there, It felt super welcoming and the staff were very approachable and friendly. I will definitely try to find a purpose to stay there in the future.

My husband and I are local and we came for breakfast at the cafe and we're so glad we did! I almost didn't review this spot because we want to keep it to ourselves :) The space is beautifully decorated, good AC, lots of outlets, and quiet! It's the perfect place to have breakfast, telework, or read. My partner and I each brought a book and it was awesome. The food is fantastic! Try the blueberry muffin on the griddle; you won't regret it. We also had the French omelette and the Sando. Both were delicious! Service was great and attentive as well. We will definitely be back!

This was our second time staying at this hotel, but it felt like the first time all over again in the best way. The first visit was just me and my fiancé. This time, we brought our one-year-old son along for the ride. And honestly, it couldn't have been a smoother or more pleasant experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the kind of warmth you hope for but rarely get at most hotels. The front desk staff were kind, open, and super helpful. I have to shout out Isaiah in particular this man went above and beyond. I had a few questions since I'm a photographer and planned to take some shots during the stay. Not only did he patiently answer every question I had, but he also gave me guidance on what I could and couldn't do around the property. His energy was welcoming and professional from start to finish. Now let's talk about the breakfast. I had the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich and I mean this with no exaggeration it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had at a hotel. Hot, flavorful, and made with care. I'd honestly come back just to grab that sandwich. The vibe of the hotel is just right. It's clean, has a modern aesthetic, and gives off a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless and well-designed I actually didn't want to leave the shower. Whether you're visiting Alexandria for work, a quick getaway, or traveling with your little one like we were, I'd absolutely recommend this spot. Solid 4.5 out of 5. We'll definitely be back.

Really incredible stay at this hotel in Alexandria for a wedding. They let me check in early after a long flight with no fee. They did a great job with catering for the bridal suite. The staff were super friendly and kind. The showers were incredible and the gym was really nice too. They have Pilates classes as well I believe. I would definitely stay here again if I was back in the area.

I was taken to Hotel AKA for my birthday. I was very excited because of all the great things that I had heard about it. Leading up to our visit my girlfriend had requested some special accommodations to surprise me. A bottle of wine in the room, a charcuterie plate, a special card and chocolate pineapples that had been delivered. The staff went above and beyond making sure all of those things were in the room. The sweet staff member , Julie ,I believe that was her name, even hand wrote the card for my girlfriend AND printed a picture of us and put it inside. Such a nice and thoughtful touch!! All of the items were in the room however the charcuterie plate was okay at best. The fruit didn't appear to be very fresh at all. We were in a suite with a living area, mini bar and balcony. At first glance the room was perfect but looking closer, you can tell it hadn't been deep cleaned in a very long g time. The carpet was very stained, tape on the light fixtures, dust and dirt on the mini bar and coffee maker area. Because of the sofa light color I could tell it needed some cleaning. This could be a very nice hotel beyond the lobby and restaurant area if they would do some deep cleaning.

Went here with the boo to celebrate our 11th anniversary. Great decision on our part. Sat at the bar and had a wonderful time engaging with the bartenders and trying different beverages. We had the Ol' times sake, and I ordered off menu and they made me a delicious Paper Plane. Don't forget to try the sweet potato rolls. They're magnificent.

We found this hotel on social media. Apparently, it is popular among content creators, so we had to find out what all of the hoopla was about and get some content. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, it was not very busy. The valet greeted us to park the car. Apparently, valet parking is the only option. We checked in very efficiently. We had a lot to carry for an overnight stay, so we needed a trolley. There were none in the foyer, so I walked inside of the hotel to look for one. When I finally found it, the attendant insisted on helping with the bags. He unloaded the car and trunk and took everything upstairs. While on the elevator, the attendant/bellman informed us that the hotel was formerly a Holiday Inn. He provided a little more historic information as well, which was interesting. When we got to the room, he unloaded the trolley and left. The room was really nice. It had some pleasing aesthetics as well. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was cute. The bathroom had under cabinet ambient lighting that I did not discover until we were leaving. As do most, this hotel room had a beverage station with some good features. The only downside was that I thought about using the white bathrobe in the closet because I was cold, but I discovered a yellow stain on it, which was really gross. I am not even sure why I considered wearing something that numerous people have worn. Before checking in, we grabbed some takeout in Old Town Alexandria, so we ate and immediately started content creation. The hotel is known for its aesthetically pleasing ambiance and amenities. The hotel has so many attractive areas throughout that we captured a month's worth of content in less than one day. In addition to visually appealing common areas, there is also a bar and lounge, as well as small cafe inside of the hotel. The first level had the majority of the amenities; however, in pursuit of other locations, we found a courtyard upstairs along with a well-equipped gym. In addition to the upstairs gym, there was also a theater room on the first floor. We never had a chance to visit the theater room because it was occupied at all times by other guests. The foyer and front desk areas were kind of dark in comparison to the amenity/lobby side of the hotel. The hallways were also kind of dark. I understand that this was part of the aesthetic, but it seemed a little drab in those areas. However, overall, it was a nice hotel and it was very clean. Though we did not have an opportunity to visit the bar/lounge, the set up was really pretty. The large puffy cloud-like decor over the bar gave the space really good appeal. The open walls added a nice touch as well, but it made the adjacent hallway a little noisy. As for the cafe, it was okay, but very clean and nicely stocked. I ordered some Cafe au laits and lemon poppy seed muffins. They did not have many vegan breakfast options. The coffee was free for guests, which was a nice touch. The checkout process was simple and the car was brought around very quickly. The attendant helped load the car. I would return again, but this time to relax and really enjoy the atmosphere or maybe enjoy a stroll around Old Town Alexandria.

Outstanding service and team. Lovely modern rooms. Great seated breakfast or quick coffee grab and go from the bakery. Genuinely good vibes inside and can't wait to come back in the fall and take more advantage of all the outdoor patio space.

My recent stay was good and I would recommend the AKA as a hotel option in Alexandria. It was clean, the service was good, the bar/restaurant was good, and the decor and ambiance was really very beautiful. I loved that my room had a nespresso machine with ample supplies, offered free boxed water, had a steamer instead of an iron, and the bathroom essentials were quality products with nice smells. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were soft. My first room, 106, was on the first floor and had a view of the zen garden. I had to move rooms though because the smell of sewage from the bathroom toilet was pretty rank. I was quickly moved to room 431 (kudos for the staff in managing this transition). This room had a Juliet balcony with a view of the outside courtyard. I found room 431 to be a little too close to the elevator for my liking. Elevators always result in more foot traffic and more disruptions from people talking near the elevator. The door to room 431 also had a large gap even when closed that let in light from the hallway and extra noise. The hotel has beautiful decor and a wonderful ambiance. It's very modern, chic, and has a dark pallet. I found some things to be impractical and lacking function for real life applications though. For example, there's no shower door and the countertop for your shower essentials is across the bathroom; this left me wet and cold when I needed to get my face wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The shower needs a shelf closer to where the shower head is. My toilet was exceptionally modern with a very sleek button on the side to flush, however the toilet's placement behind the bathroom door made it a challenge to flush. There are a few lights in the room, a long pole that looks really neat but provides a 12" diameter of light only directly under it... can't figure out in what context this would be useful. There's a floor lamp with no way to turn it on without pressing a button from the ground because the pedal isn't big enough for your foot to catch it. I had to call the front desk to address the sewage smell issue and then to get vanity kits and body lotion. My room had a phone but no direct dials to things in the hotel like the front desk, or a list of phone numbers to reach the front desk. Instead of using the phone in my hotel room I found myself googling the contact details for the hotel from my cellphone and then calling the front desk from my cell rather than the phone in my room. This felt confusing. I think a list of phone numbers or extensions would be helpful. The downstairs bathroom was so dark it was difficult to see and should probably have soap at each faucet. I love the inclusion of outlets and light switches next to the bed with easy access but my usb ports didn't work. The hotel bar has a great vibe and feels very chic for old town Alexandria. It does close at 10 pm most nights and 11 pm on some nights. There are limited options for drinks and food in the area so definitely plan accordingly. TJ Stones will be your only option after 9:30/10. Overall my stay was good. I just found some of the design to be pretty and not functional. I have no problem recommending this hotel but I think I'll continue to stay at the Hotel Indigo down by the waterfront during my visits to Alexandria.

Great location and walking distance to Old Town Alexandria Customer Service Joshwa was great and super helpful. He provided exceptional customer service before our stay and during. He also provided a couple of recommendations of places to eat that we did try. Thanks so much!!! We also received a beautiful card and complimentary anniversary gift from him as well, thank you. The Bellman The gentleman's name escaped me but he gave us info about places to park and informed us to adhere to the signs since VA loves to tow. He was pleasant, held the door open for us, and was the first person we encountered before entering the hotel. When we left, Mr. Andrew carried our bags for us and was great!!!! I DID NOT like that the hotel charged my card a $200 security deposit without my consent. I reserved this hotel on Booking.Com with the "Pay at the Hotel" option. It would have been nice to have received a heads-up that this charge was coming prior. Food The hotel does have a cafe that is only open from 5:00 pm until 11 pm I believe. We did not get an opportunity to order. **Tip** It would have been nice for brunch to be offered in the morning. Ambiance The aesthetics of the hotel were great, super modern, and CLEAN. The lights were turned down low so it was dark. The Room The room was VERY CLEAN, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. Did I mention CLEAN Parking Valet is available for $18 Daily and $40 Overnight Parking is available across the street and on the sides for 2hrs from Mon-Saturday 8am-5pm. It's VA/DC so parking is always limited and horrible.

All in all, this is a really nice hotel; however, for the price, there is still a little more updating to do. The staff is very friendly, approachable, and helpful. One day the cleaning staff skipped my room. When I attempted to speak to them, they just stared at me due to the language barrier. I get it. The oversight was promptly corrected after a simple call to the front desk. The hotel is beautiful overall. As others have mentioned, though, it is still in need of updating. I actually think more attention was placed on the common areas than the actual rooms in the conversion of the hotel from one brand to the next. As you can see from the pics I provided, the lobby area and media room were both extremely nice. As mentioned previously, some areas are awkwardly dark. There were also random missteps in the rooms. For instance, most hotels now have charging abilities in the nightstands within the bedrooms. As phones and general other devices have globally upgraded, smart hotels have followed suit. My party had both an Android and iPhone. You could charge one but the ports were still outdated so we had to use other means to charge the other device. The point is that some things are common in everyday life now. Also, as another user noted, certain areas such as the drinking station with the glasses, coffee, etc., were so dusty (as if it had not been cleaned in a really long time), that we literally washed it all ourselves. I'm saying the real wash like at home in the kitchen sink. Also, as another person mentioned, while the water closet is obviously useful, the button placement on the toilet is definitely a design flaw. It is not exactly what you would call user friendly. The huge balcony was amazing. The size of the room was larger than some apartments I have seen in the city (seriously). The bathroom in general, although nice at first glance, definitely shows signs of age from the shower to areas in the sink. The breakfast was fine, as general breakfast goes. Oh, and the hash browns aren't the typical ones you would receive at hotel breakfast. Anyway, nice overall visit. However, when you have patrons doing more than a simple overnight like I did, they expect an experience that will justify the price. All in all, this place just needs a little fine-tuning. It is in a nice location, has good bones, and great staff. Positively thinking, it will be one of the better hotel offerings in the area over time.

This was the most posh minimalistic hotel I've visited. Been to other luxury hotels similar to aka like nobu Miami but this was luxury. In a safe, quaint, and walkable area with public transportation. There's grocery markets and restaurants near by. Upon arriving, the lobby has chic decor with dim lighting out of a James Bond film. The desk clerks were professional and accommodating. Not a big hotel but definitely enough space. Aka restaurant is right of the front desk along a dim corridor where lifts to rooms are available. Can't recommend the restaurant, didn't have time to dine but please do give a try. There's contemporary portraits of prominent historical figures in lobby/rooms. The portraits have abstract edits and fun to guess figures. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with minimalistic decor and Netflix availability. However, the bed was firm, not the best sleep yet everything was clean. The room has slight amenities such as minimum bath toiletries, cafe station, box water, mini fridge cupboard, and multiple light options. This is a great premium date weekend or business travel hotel.

Lovely dinner at the Hotel AKA Alexandria restaurant & bar. Craft cocktails and sophisticated menu. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Chef Chris and team did an amazing job. Excellent service. Highly recommend for drinks and dinner if you're in the area or staying at this hotel!

This is really great place to stay while still being close to DC and away from the madness. Especially for the cherry blossom season. 100% recommend it. Down a couple block, is old Alexandria town and it's ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! The staff were all very welcoming and friendly.the standard two queen bed room is spacious. This hotel offer e-bike services and the mount vernon trail is less than 2 mins away making DC super close. Overall this hotel will be my new go to spot in Washington!

Disclaimer: I have never stayed at the hotel. BUT I have come in to enjoy their Bar, I've come here several times with a friend and the drinks are wonderful, the staff is so kind and knowledgeable! Everyone from the lobby staff to the bar staff is very welcoming. I think it's a great space to come and enjoy and work from. This space has great ambience; Hotel AKA has really done a great job furnishing this place. I will say that I did try to come once and they had an event at the bar, so it was closed to the public since the space was rented which sucked. But the bar manager was kind about it.

I was recently in town for a family reunion, and stayed at AKA Alexandria, VA. The hotel was modern, safe, and absolutely spotless. My daughter stayed on one floor, and my cousin was there as well (we were all on different floors). The staff was friendly, courteous and accommodating. My valet guy Luis was outstanding, and my nighttime valet guy was great as well (he retrieved my phone from my car for me late one night). My housekeeper was amazing, and kept my room in excellent condition. I would recommend the AKA brand to anyone looking for a top quality and memorable hotel experience. I'm on the fence between giving this a 3 star and 4. It's a beautiful hotel with lovely design. Nespresso coffee and nice teas in the rooms. You get the first 2 waters for free in the room, but have to pay for any additional. Would be nice if they had a sign telling you that and a note saying to press 0 on the phone for reception for those not used to landlines. Arrived and my friend accidentally booked as a govt employee rate. Instead of first trying to help us, the woman up front gave us a list rate even though a quick search online showed us a lower rate. It was only after going back and forth a few times that she found us a room at a decent price. Not the best first impression. That said, the room was lovely. Walls are super thin. We heard the music and our neighbors talking which wasn't great. The bathroom lock didn't work and there's no fan in the bathroom. They don't have a full restaurant, but they have a cafe where coffee/tea are complimentary if you are a guest. There are baked goods as well. There's a cinema room for movies on the first floor. The bar which has drinks and small bites was lovely. Staff was beyond helpful and kind. Totally made up for our initial experience. It's a beautiful space, I'd say sound is an issue and they need to fix their bathroom locks which is odd for a hotel that only opened a year ago. They need to fix how they advertise their rates. All of the staff was lovely except for that first interaction which was a shame. They will provide an electric kettle if you ask for one. They have a mini fridge, but no microwave.

Clean, modern, great staff! Definitely would stay here again. A bit of a hike to King Street, but it's a nice walk.

Love this hotel! Such friendly, helpful, classy staff and they were a godsend to me when my condo development had no heat for three days. Their pet friendly policy was what I needed and they went the extra mile to bring me a dog bed and water bowl! Made myself what might've been the world's best espresso first thing in the morning with the Nespresso machine in my room. Need I say more? This hotel is comfortable, special, beautifully appointed and luxurious without breaking the bank.

Aaron & Quinnlan were amazing & great with conversation! Aaron is in training and did great with Quinn was around as well leading training! I can't wait to visit them again!

Terrible service from the bartender. Felt like the hospitality was extremely lacking. Drinks are okay, but had pretentious vibes for being "off main". Kind of a snooze fest, except for the overemphasized cloud light sculpture (?) over the bar. Not very lively. Not very friendly.

The atmosphere was amazing, I came in and had a shot of tequila after my long shift at work and had a great time with Quinnlan I am definitely planning on coming back.

Great place. Worth staying in Alexandria and taking the train to DC. Same price as a holiday inn in DC but sooo much nicer. Quiet, employees are awesome. And make sure you eat dinner at the restaurant. That may have been my favorite part. I have the fried Maitake mushroom appetizer and the two aster cauliflower main. Both were simply excellent. My wife had the Ragu which she also said was very good. Bar closes early. Bartender told me at 9:30 he would only pour straight drinks and proceeded to shake a cocktail for a "cool" couple on the other side of the bar. Had a drink elsewhere after that. Otherwise a great experience.

Disclaimer: we only stayed for 12 hours. Celebratory stay for the Mrs. birthday, opted to stay in the balcony suite. Amenities did not work, lights flickered a in the bathroom the entire time and bugs. When keeping it too minimal goes wrong! From the lighting, closet space and furniture. The balcony was a great way to see the sunrise, but wouldn't recommend for the price. (This room did come with a fridge and microwave) The saving grace, the proximity to DC and Old Town Alexandria, and we were barely in the room except to change and sleep. I'm now curious about the other AKA properties to compare. I knew it wasn't a great stay because the Mrs. wanted to check out ASAP and that room came with a late checkout. Plenty of areas to improve, and I'm happy to provide feedback to management. I think it has great potential, but currently just a place to grab a drink/eat at the bar + lounge area.

Torn on this review because this hotel is very very cute however, during my stay in December the elevators reeked of pee and the first room I checked in had some stuff on the toilet. The ladies at the front desk gracefully changed my room so no issues there 5 stars for professionalism and attentiveness. They also did give me some credit but unfortunately I wasn't able to use it how I wanted due to the bar area not being open during the times I was available. The bar is very chic but again I was unable to enjoy it on this trip. The rooms are very modern and my only complaint about the modernness is how the shower situation is set up..there is no door so you aren't able to steam yourself and get that nice hot shower you may be craving. The location is great and there's plenty of options to eat in the Old Town area since the hotel did not have much food offerings. I would say 3.5 out of 5 stars for this specific trip!

Amazing hotel, great service, very clean and aesthetically beautiful. Gorgeous gym and roof patio! Walkable area, about 15 minutes to the main Alexandria downtown but plenty of food and a grocery store close by to grab snacks and fresh fruit. Only a $10 15-minute Uber to the main DC attractions and the airport, we stayed 3 nights over a weekend and traffic seemed non-existent. I would definitely stay again if we're back in the area! Wish these hotels were everywhere

Looks like others have had good stays here, but I stays 3 days for a meeting and the food was really bad

I recently treated family to a stay at this new property in Old Town North (less than a year old) there is a parking garage with valet ($$) there is limited nearby street parking during weekdays. The staff was friendly and helpful and anticipated our needs during the stay. You will feel the tranquility of the property immediately upon stepping inside - it is modern minimalistic with art and sculpture throughout the lobby and bar/restaurant area. There is a small cinema available for guests during the stay in which the property has a slate of films during the week as well as you can stream from personal accounts to watch movies/TV. The staff brought us personalized hotel chocolates while we were watching a movie which was a nice treat. The terrace is vast and open to guests. The property also features a gym. No pool that we were made aware of and none shown on the website. The location is great as you can walk to nearby restaurants and shops as well as the waterfront. The hotel is a 10 min drive from DCA and Washington DC. The queen double room was so spacious! No frills just clean and tranquil. And we were surprised at how quiet the halls and hotel were in general. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because we did not get the opportunity to spend time in the bar/restaurant for drinks and food but it opens at 5 pm for dinner service and is open to the public. Overall the stay was amazing and I look forward to a staycation in the near future.

Literally the only place I'd stay in the dmv. This is the absolute best spot in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. Top-notch cleanliness, quality everything - from the staff to the sheets to the furniture. The team, including Alistair, Ellen, Owen, Jasmyn, and Nigel, are exceptional. The fitness center is completely under rated AMAZING i mean Pelotons?! I'd love to see this establishment expand its presence further down south.

The hotel is attractive, modern, minimalist and elegant. I love the design of it, particularly the herringbone dark marble floors, the upholstered furniture in the public areas, all of the wood, and the low lighting. But the people are what make Hotel AKA Alexandria great. From the moment you arrive, the valet men are kind, friendly and quick to help. The front desk staff is warm, personable and attentive. Nigel suggested places to eat, was easy to talk to and effortlessly took care of even the smallest issue. The housekeeping staff did a great job, and our room was inviting, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location is ideal. Even though it was really cold the weekend we were there (temperatures in the 30s), everything was just a short walk away--to Hank's for seafood, to Trader Joe's for snacks, and a little further afield to Tatte for coffee and pastries. My only regret is that we did not stay long enough to try the hotel's restaurant (menu sounded great!) or the cafe for breakfast/lunch takeaway. Cannot recommend this beautiful, luxurious hotel and its fantastic people enough.

My room had a bit of an issue with the shower. I called the front desk and Adam was the manager on duty and at my door within minutes helping me get moved quickly. He was incredibly efficient and even though the situation could have completely derailed my schedule for the day, I was able to get to my meetings on time and came back to a different room with all of my items safely moved. I stay at high end chain hotels relatively often and have never experienced the turn around time service that I did here. Additionally everyone I encountered was incredibly pleasant from valet to front desk staff. I rarely have a big opinion positive or negative on hotel stays as they are more or less a necessity but AKA was phenomenal!!

The reception staff were exceptional. They were friendly, enthusiastic, and so helpful with recommending places to eat and things to do. The rooms were modern and spacious.. The terrace was a great place to relax with an adult beverage ( we brought our own wine). The location was perfect for our needs and since we were there on a weekend we were able to find on street parking. I would not hesitate to to stay there again.

The owners did an outstanding job converting a Holiday Inn to a beautiful new hotel. The problem I encountered was with Management at the hotel. The staff did not advise me upon check-in that they did not provide housekeeping services unless you ask them to do so. I also experienced a power outage in my room and the morning I was checking out the telephone service did not work, while the management did compensate me for this difficulty, I don't believe I would visit this hotel again.

We live in the neighborhood so we stopped in for a drink. Lovely decor! The menu looks good and fairly reasonable for Alexandria. If they are going to make it, they need to have a really nice happy hour or something else to in draw the locals in. Big mistake--only one type of beer and it's not mainstream. Why is that?

This is a must stay. Personal service starts with the valet service, then the front desk personnel, the bartenders, housekeepers, and any other staff that you encounter, they are all pleasant and accommodating. Hotel AKA has all the amenities. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. In room safe and fridge. Huge showers and entertainment system. Currently, they're still in the renovation process. However, it didn't affect our visit. It was quiet and never a bother for the guest. Valet service is available. Be careful about on street parking. Hotel AKA also has a bar and, as of now, limited food service, but I must say what they do have is good.There are lots of shops practically right out the front door. Get your mani or pedi, buy some furniture, stop and eat. Lots of restaurants. The waterfront is just a couple of steps away. It offers a walking trail and a park. There are grocery stores, bar's an the ABC store, all within walking distance. The airport is also close by. Even the people you encounter out and about are friendly. I highly recommend Hotel AKA, and thanks for making my husband's birthday extra special.

Hello my husband and I stayed at the Hotel Aka Alexandria from October 7-9 this year we were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. The hotel was a horrible experience let me explain. Day 1 when we first arrived the staff was horrible they made us wait 2 hrs to check in and mind you they said it was a 3pm check in time second when we finally went to our room it was horrible , first no lighting in the room no where to hang your towels or your robe when you come out the front the shower and the most disgusting was there was no ventilation and no exhaust fan in the bathroom so clearly you smell your own poop. The next day my husband and I wanted to see the gym well as we are going on the elevator we got off and the 2nd floor was invested with water bugs and roaches we immediately went to the front desk we spoke to Nigel who claimed yes there are roaches and they are come in from the outside seating area which is so disgusting and un professional. We asked numerous times to have our room changed Nigel and staff said no if you don't like it just leave they are the most unprofessional people I ever dealt with. Also they gave false advertising they said there was a full cofee maker in the deluxe room that we had no cider maker no lights no exhaust fan no hangers no shelves to put your clothes on nothing but a horrible hotel which charged us 300 dollars a night for a roach infested hotel . I already spoke to visa ad well as my bank to let them know what a horrible hotel AKA Alexandria is. I am warning people don't go there or you will experience a horrible time. My husband and I both tried to deal with the hotel we asked a a refund they said no there comment to us was if you don't like it then leave. Hotel AKA Alexandria is a rip off hotel and a roach infested hotel that makes you smell your own shit.
