Lausanne, Ala Gare Hotel|| A hotel nestled up against the train station; very close for a walk to and fro, but it could be a bit noisy at night as the trains ran continuously. They do taper off in the evenings but if you want quiet you will need to select another hotel. If you want easy access the to station, this is your place. Breakfast buffet was served in a room with a glass floor and a train lay out under the glass. Food was typical Swiss hotel tourist breakfast fare, nothing more, nothing less. Rooms were small and crowded – difficult to get two people and 2 suitcases in the space. Nice café down the street and small shops in the area. This is your hotel if you like easy access to the trains. A hotel that has washcloths – a rarity in Europe. Nice cathedral to visit in the old town and a large shopping area in the same area as the cathedral. Easy to walk throughout and to and from the hotel.

Our room was small by North American standards but certainly all you need. ||Central location, near to the metro station (that you will use every day with the free transit pass issued by the hotel) is fantastic. We faced out on the quiet, mainly pedestrian street. There are lots of lively cafes close by and a small farmers market one day. We thought the breakfast was very good with ample variety.

Awesome customer service. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. They were fluent in English, gave us free metro passes, and some good pointers on things to do. The complimentary breakfast was nice and hotel is very clean. I loved the railway themed artwork and detailed model railway in the floor of the dinning area which. Highly recommend and would 100% stay here again.

The hotel felt extremely safe and is in a brilliant location for all the local attractions. The staff are all lovely, knowledgeable and genuine with a caring and honest attitude. They can’t do enough for you from the doormen to the staff on the reception desk, they are a credit to the hotel. We loved everything about our stay and will certainly be back soon.

Stayed here for week while visiting out daughter in Lausanne. 4 min from station which was perfect as we visited several places near by via trains and they were always on time - Chillon castle, vineyards, Bern and Geneva , all excellent for day trips . You also get complimentary metro travel card for the length of your stay. . Ferry and lake only few minutes walk or metro if you don’t want to climb up back to the hotel. Hotel rooms might look basic but perfectly functional, clean. Good shower and toilet - small but clean . In room tea and coffee facilities was really a treat . Convenient location as we can have a day out, and then back to the hotel for a quick freshen up to go for a meal. Breakfast was really fantastic with lots of choices- variety of breads, meat, cheeses, nuts , cereals fruits, yogurt, spreads , boiled eggs., pastries. Gives you a good start for the day. Ladies who look after the breakfast area were very efficient and made sure there was plenty of supply and the place was tidied up . Reception staff was also very helpful, polite and friendly. Thank you . I will definitely be coming back when I visit my daughter next time.

We were looking for a hotel closed to train station with good breakfast as we need to leave quite early to the airport. This hotel really answered what we were looking for. We carried a small luggage (20") so it is fit perfectly inside the room. Although our room was facing the train station and it was quite noisy, after testing close all the windows and turned on tha fan (provided in the room) , it was really quite and we had no problems on sleeping. The most impressive part was the breakfast!! Great variety of choices and taste good.

Stayed here in May 2018 for a few night. Convenient location just next to the train station and a short walk to the funicular tram. The room was slightly dated though but comfortable enough. I am a light sleeper but didn't hear any train sound.

My room was on the street level, and the window had direct access to some garbage cans. Room was clean, but not very modern. A little bit old-fashioned. Breakfast had not very much variety. But the train in the floor is cool.
