This is an amazing hotel which was voted by my group as the favorite of our two-week stay in Spain and Portugal. The breakfast probably put it over the top! The pastries were incredible and the ambiance was fabulous. Wonderful coffee! We loved the intimacy of the dining room -- not huge and convention-style, like some hotels. The outdoor patio was beautiful, the front desk staff was exceptional. We can't say enough good things about this hotel. My friends had rooms which were a little larger than mine, but I had the park view. It's a trade off. Both rooms were super nice.

Our wonderful host has made Alegria feel like a French chateau in the heart of Lisbon. comfortable furnishings, fresh flowers in the lobby, original wood floors throughout, and friendly staff are just some of the highlights. The breakfast selection was excellent with eggs made to order. The kiosk in the park directly in front of the hotel was the perfect spot for an afternoon spritz. Alegria's location is very quiet and there are several good restaurants located around the hotel. We could walk to many sights but a taxi back up the hill at the end of a long day's sightseeing is a good idea. We truly enjoyed our stay at Alegria a Lisbon Boutique Hotel and if we find ourselves in Lisbon again we would stay there again.

We stayed at the Alegria twice - once planned and the second unplanned due to the country wide power outage. Both stays were enjoyable with a lovely location off the Avenida de Liberdade, a tree lined street with lots of shops. Our room was very clean, comfortable beds, well maintained and large enough for luggage for two, which is not always the case with hotels in Europe (and New York!) . The lobby is charming and inviting. The staff were the stars of the stay, particularly Ines, David and Diogo. They were so helpful, delightful to talk with, and went out of their way to make things easy. Diogo helped to find a telecommunications repair store because my Apple phone's touch screen stopped working. David helped us find the best way to the airport on a national holiday when the Metro was not in service and streets all around were closed due to a parade and race. Ines gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and other good suggestions. When the power outage happened and we could not get our luggage, I contacted the hotel immediately as we felt we had been in such good hands. If we do ever go back to Lisbon, we would only go here!

Perfect boutique hotel across from a cute park. Everything was amazing from the luxurious soft towels and robes to the breakfast and snacks during the day. Quiet area but close to everything. Make sure to book a park facing room. Staff worked hard to anticipate or assist with your needs. Would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful little spot! My room was quaint, and spacious and overlooked the park out front. The front of this hotel is adorable. The breakfast is fresh and has many options to choose from. I ate a great dinner at a cozy restaurant in the neighborhood as well.

Our Mansard room was supposed to have "stunning view of Lisbon," but had mostly roofs, tops of nearby buildings, and a tiny corner of the St. George Castle (rooms further south on the floor could see more of it). Other than that, it was comfortable but mattresses on the soft side, helpful but not always fully informed staff, and an excellent continental breakfast with eggs to order. The shower was among the best hotel showers I've seen - instant hot water, holds temperature well, and the floor not very slippery. If there were a way to hold the telephone shower head at the level of my face rather than my navel, it'd be perfect.

Beautiful hotel off the main avenue with plenty of shopping and within walking distance of all the major attractions Lisbon has to offer. Hotel staff were friendly and our room had so much character that it felt like a home away from home. Their breakfast also offered lots of choice and was delicious! One of the highlights is the little park across the street where you can enjoy delicious food and drink from their outdoor cafe! Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone traveling to Lisbon!

Yelp
Hotel Alegria is a wonderful hotel right off the famous Av da Liberdade. It is next to the cute little park, in a middle of everything, walking distance from everywhere, yet in a quite & quaint part. We stayed here for 5 nights & really enjoyed our stay. The room was classy & had everything you could wish for. All the staff members were amazing. Very helpful & accommodating. On our first night we realized that our AC wasn't working properly. We mentioned it to the front desk the next morning & right away someone was sent to check it out. When it couldn't be fixed we were given another room instantly. We appreciated it VERY much. We don't normally have breakfasts in hotels that we stay in because we like to go out & try different things... however we had breakfast here one time & enjoyed it very much. We will definitely stay in this charming hotel next time we are in Lisbon.

Yelp
This hotel is wonderful! The building and rooms are charming, the staff is efficient, and the breakfast totally seals the deal! I've been staying at Hotel Alegria for about 4 days now and it's been a good experience. The room, while small, is very comfortable and has all the amenities I need. When something is missing, like an iron and ironing board, one can be supplied by just asking the front desk. The people who clean the rooms are quick and do a great job. Excellent stay and hope to stay here again when I return to Lisbon.

Yelp
The location of this place is perfect, and I loved spending evenings in praça alegria having a drink and enjoying some live music. The rooms were beautiful as well and so charming, and the place was impeccably clean! Best of all, everyone at the hotel was so kind and personable. Inês in particular was AWESOME! My mom forgot her phone on the plane, and Inês went above and beyond to help by calling the lost and found multiple times for us and helping us find more info. She was so kind and helpful! Thank you Inês!

Yelp
I almost never leave reviews. Just busy and well, not that into it. But Hotel Alegria is a wonderful treasure in Lisbon that forced me to make an exception. Bernard, George, and their designer, Joelle, as well as all the staff made our romantic European fantasy hotel a reality with its charming rooms, a sidewalk cafe, and an outdoor kiosk/cafe across the street in the wonderful little plaza in front of the hotel. Service was perfect. Breakfast too with a large, variety of fresh breads, fruits, juices, cheeses, pastries, charcuterie, eggs, etc. Everything is quality. Beds were great. Firm but comfortable. Location is on a small, quiet square close to everything. We walked everywhere but also were able to sleep at night. We spent 2.5 weeks traveling through Portugual. We loved the Hotel Alegria so much we booked it again upon our return to Lisbon. When we checked out at 4:30 a.m. to catch our flight home, staff had a breakfast package ready for us. Highly recommended. Glenn and Juan, Sacramento, CA

Yelp
Typical European hotel with small but charming rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a reasonable price and good value for what you get. Really great location! Convenient to the metro and only 30 min or so away from Lisbon's airport. Almost all main attractions of the city are walking distance and the rest are an easy metro or cab ride away.
