This is one of our favorite places to go when we want to relax and have some quality-time as a family, and we go here a couple of times a year. Traveling with children, we especially love the pool area which as several pools indoor and outdoor, indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, saunas, water slide, a separate pool for small children, as well as a separate spa-area (which costs extra). The hotel is beautifully located right at the fjord, with mountains and peaks surrounding it on all sides. Breakfast and dinner is excellent, with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, as well as local specialities. A good tip is to try to avoid the peak-season (summer- and school holidays as well as the last month before Christmas). Although being a rather big hotel, it has managed to retain its charm and uniqueness as a family run business.

This hotel is wonderful. The desk staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room faced the fjord and it was lovely. The room size was large with beds and a sitting are consisting of a sofa, coffee table and chair. There was also a desk and chair. The bathroom was a nice size. The beds were a bit soft for our liking. We enjoyed their spa that included an inside pool, 3 saunas, a cold pool and a rooftop jacuzzi. We got a Mahanna massage and it was wonderful. They provide towels and robes. Their room includes dinner and breakfast. They are both buffets and have a large varieties of foods to try. All was delicious.

Really great facilities (pools, spa etc), location was good with amazing views. Service was a let down, did not feel like a 5 star hotel service. Food was acceptable but again was not 5 star quality in our view. Overall would only stay again if the price was more competitive or if service / food improved.

We stayed in a room with a view, and everything was very quaint and perfect. The staff upgraded us to a nicer room. The massage was to die for (and affordable). The buffet for both dinner and morning was old school. The cocktails at the lounge was perfect. Nothing I would change.

First impression : big hotel|Wrong||Owners have managed over the years to expand and there are a lot of rooms. Yet inside they kept the atmosphere of family-run business.||Excellent spa (& massage :) ) ||Room was good (fjord view) with only 1 comment : one a smoker uses the balcony to smoke... you get the filthy smell in your non-smoking room. Closing the window ...||Food : big dining room. Buffet is excellent (not at all a "eat all you can" experience) with good quality. Same for breakfast

We love the history of the place and the lobby and restaurants are incredible, really paying homage to that. The pool equally is a lovely restful spot. For us where we struggled was the rooms - they are missing any character (which is out of place with the lobby) but otherwise clean & basic. The breakfast is big & commercial (and had all you want) but only the omelettes were noticeably homemade! It’s expensive and I guess we’d hoped for better quality service, food & room relative to that price.

This is a beautiful hotel. Must go up to Loen skylift. During my trip in Norway, this is the only hotel that provided room slippers. There is plenty of spaces in the hotel for us to sit around with a drink, do some reading. And the garden is absolutely gorgeous. We didn't bring our swimsuits, otherwise we would have used the pool. So we are definitely coming back again!

The location is great, amazing views. Pool areas are beautiful and the property is really nice. our room was great too although I would have preferred real beds in the fjord suite instead of pullout sofas. The restaurant is very old fashioned with a buffet (think cruise vibes). Some areas of the hotel are outdated and weird.

Yelp
the staff was very rude and fat shamed my son and did not give us adequate service and kicked us out. they also racially discriminated against my african Amercian wife. the rooms where also very dirty and had no air conditioning, there where even bugs in the shower. the pool was dirty and had a musty smell and the slide was not safe even having blood in it. the buffet was dirty and had flies near the food and gave me and my son food poisoning.

Yelp
The place is very nice and well kept. Some areas seem renewed or Updated. It has many rooms for conferences and meetings. A cute kids area. The buffet fir breakfast wasn't very good. Dinner had more meat options. A la carte was good. The rooms are cute, but don't justify for the price. We found a tick in the room. The sales manager said maybe it came with us. No "we will investigate", no "this is a surprise for us", no reaction, no mortification... nothing that let me know that this was a rate, unusual, isolated situation. Just got told that it would be good for me to check because it might have come with us. The huge extra Large tick as nasty as can be. On my kids and I. I am so upset. It surprises me that a hotel has absolutely no customer service "face" to deal with complications. Really bad. Not coming back. It was a first and last.

Yelp
Pretty nice place indeed! The buffet was the best I've ever had!! The rooms were a little dated but comfortable. Only complaints we had were that the rooms were so HOT!! We had to open the balcony door to cool down. Also the wifi was TERRIBLE. But over all everyone was friendly and it is in a great location of you're ever hiking Skaala. The spa services were great too.

Yelp
A 'picture postcard' setting but beware that Norwegian prices are much higher than in England. Regular live music at weekends Rooms are a little poor for the price. Good, but pricey, facilities.
