Given the worst room in the entire hotel. Gaslit the entire time when the air conditioning was broken, was assured that someone was coming to fix it and never did. The owner showed us around his building which is quite beautiful but expected for free breakfast to solve the problem. Paris in the summer is hot, and 5 star hotels need to have working air conditioning. Was told by staff that “it’s not common to have air conditioning in Paris.” It is therefore likely this owner, who is well connected in Paris, has pulled strings to receive his 5 stars.
Texts back and forth for our entire trip ruined the stay. No concessions made. Staff seems minimally helpful and cordial, but hands tied over management’s whims.
A very helpful piece of advice to the proprietors, from someone who spends considerable time in truly 5 star establishments. Fix your utilities, and everything as a manager and owner is always your responsibility and fault in the hospitality business.
Be well!
Edit- Contrary to the hotel’s response this was never fixed. There is a theme here of the Hotel responding to people with problems pretending that they fixed it. This is not the case and buyer beware.
