Hotel Alfred Sommier

We had a wonderful stay in the Hotel Alfred Sommier! They were able to prepare our room on time. Although the room was a little bit underwhelming, the service and location of the hotel made up for everything! The room service was able to fulfill all our request swiftly, and they always served with kindness and smiles. I don’t know how many times did they made up our room, but every time we went back to the hotel, everything was well in order again. Kinda magical to be honest. As for the location, it is close to the Madeleine station, which is connected to most major metro lines. We were able to get to most sightseeing locations easily. The hotel is also in walking distance to Printemps and Lafayette, which makes the shopping experience even better. The service in this hotel can really make you feel that you are special. Definitely will stay in this hotel again the next time I’m visiting Paris. Great thanks to the Hotel Alfred Sommier staff.

We loved our stay at the Alfred Sommier. We arrived early. Our room wasn’t ready but they stored our stuff for us. And we had the hotel booked massages for us so it was a great way to decompress after a long overnight red eye without much rest/sleep. Highly recommend having the hotel book a massage. And they even had a shower area in the gym room for us to freshen up after we arrived. The massage is in the same area, in a very cozy, cool, cave room. Friendly staff. Loved the toiletry as well. And the nightly turn down service is such a nice plus to come back to after a night out. Highly recommend this property. We will definitely stay here again. Even though we came as a couple, we save lots of people with children there. So we would like to come back with our kids.

Loved this hotel and all its history. It’s beautiful. The owner is such a kind and social man. Our group of ladies enjoyed learning about his home and now hotel. The food was delicious. I’m a huge coffee drinker, the morning cappuccinos were right on point. The beds were comfortable & the rooms were beautifully well kept giving off that Parisian vibe — gold dusted trim, white moldings and walls, white bedding… it was beautiful. The location was fantastic. Walking distance to all the main attractions and shopping. We loved it.

A little pretentious. The high ceiling might look impressive at first, but everything here seems so impractical with no attention to detail. The white male staff seemed very condescending. How can a 5 star hotel these days be this uncomfortable? 5 stars means you should be top tier, but our experience here does not match 5 star hotels we've been to so far. We thought European 5 stars would exceed our expectations with these prices, but it was very underwhelming. The rooms have an extremely squeaky floor, especially when you share a room and one goes to the bathroom at night, the other will wake up. The WC is separate from the shower but there is no faucet to wash your hands in the WC. The fact that you have to get out of the toilet and enter the shower room to wash your hands is not only annoying but unhygienic. The point of separation is probably simultaneous use, but who would want to go to the toilet and not be able to wash their hands? The toilet paper holder is poorly designed, so that the roll of toilet paper gets squashed and won't move freely. The curtains look nice, but it's hard to open them using the archaic drawstring contraption and it's impossible to close. The TV doesn't have integrated apps. The bedding made us overheat at night even though the room was cold. I think the duvet is just full of insulating synthetic fibers. The breakfast was of good quality, but the aforementioned white waiter (I don't know his name so this is the only way to describe him) consistently had a displeased face and also looked very annoyed when we accidentally dropped a plate off the flimsy table, despite our apology. The rest of the team seemed professional and welcoming. I'm sad that this had to be my dear mother's birthday experience.

Why two stars? Generally comfy bed and good items at the breakfast, just a bit small for a buffet. But the two stars have been heavily influenced by some of the hotel staff since there have been two unpleasant encounters. One woman sitting at the reception being quite arrogant, but worst experience has been a man serving at the breakfast buffet, such an arrogant vibe. While we dropped a plate by accident on the very small table, there was no help and instead he came to watch us picking up the pieces with our bare hands while being dead silent with a very very unpleasant facial expression even after we apologized. It’s a plate, 5 star hotel, I’m sure you have enough? Doesn’t seemed like you care about the safety of your guests. Please take care of educating your staff regarding basic etiquette and safety. There’s been one female racialized staff serving at the breakfast that has been very nice, you can learn from her. That’s why the 2 stars.

Rooms: -Stayed in the prestige suite, so it was spacious. -Toilette is not in the same restroom, so we had to move between the toilette and restroom every time! Service: -Staff are very supportive and helpful, front desk concierge and porters are professional. Location: -Spectacular, away from tourist traps, and magically near everything.

Amazing attention to detail! Stunning space, loved the rooms and our shared yoga space was wonderful. Getting to tour the rooftop terrace with Richard was such a cherry on top of a fantastic stay. Thank you for the hospitality and hope to see and stay with you again soon! Till then- XOXO Amy Dolce

Fantastic location and great experience. Very large and interconnecting rooms which is unusual for Paris. Perfectly quiet and serene location right in the middle of the city. Few minor details could have been more smooth - making sure to refresh the coffees for the room each day, restocking the waters in the minibar, and not leaving cleaning supplies behind. Also, housekeeping didn’t get to our rooms until almost 4 pm one day which is no big deal, but again for a 5 star hotel, would expect it to be more timely. Regardless, definitely will stay here again, in fact already have my next stay with them booked.

I had made a reservation to stay here a year ago for 7 days. I know people are always like "oh it's you!" When I finally show up to places because I'm such an avid planner lol. But this place was GREAT!! I didn't even know it was 5 stars! They're so nice and so helpful. Some do speak English if you need assistance with anything. The food is also great here for Breakfast! We did not have a chance to taste lunch nor dinner here, however I will say I'm sure it's super awesome. I hope to come back here again in the future! I had gotten the room with the balcony and it was sooooo worth it. I would certainly encourage anyone who stays here to do the same. Thanks so much for taking care of us!

This is not my first trip to France and we are only in Paris for a couple days before heading south. This classic hotel is absolutely beautiful. When we arrived we walked down the corridor which brings you to the courtyard. We were warmly greeted at reception and check-in was a snap. Our bags were promptly delivered to our room and the room is just what I hoped. A beautiful solid wood floor, updated bath and separate toilet space. A soft inviting comfy bed in the main which shows off its classic look. Our breakfast was included and I'm looking forward to try the offerings from the restaurant.

Checked into room 11. The room must be underneath a business in operation because the incessant foot traffic was non stop. I literally can tell you there was a person with high heels and another w/ men's shoes. This goes on for 2 hrs! I called the front desk, they are sold out and nothing they can do. How can you call this place a hotel if you cannot rest your head for a peaceful rest. Unacceptable. Check in only if you have Bose or earplugs.

The staff here is absolutely amazing. From the front desk, concierge, the people that help w/ your luggage - they were all so accommodating and pleasant. They help with anything possible and with a lovely attitude. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and taken care of. The hotel is unique and feels very authentic, feels like you're in a piece of Parisian history. Thank you everyone at Alfred Sommier!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for my birthday and we had the best time. The staff were so friendly from the moment we arrived. We received a tour and learned about the history of the building. Our room had high ceilings and a beautiful gold fireplace. The staff knew it was my birthday and left a sweet note and offered a free bottle of wine at the bar. They truly made our time in Paris so special and we will definitely stay here again in the future.

A gem in Paris Alfred Sommier Hotel is a former mansion of famous French sugar refiners. A descendant has beautifully transformed it in a 5-star boutique hotel. The decoration is exquisite and plays on a clash between ancient and modern. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. I felt almost at home while staying in a so "chic" Parisian "hôtel particulier". I will never stay somewhere else in Paris.
