I arrived with a group of tourists as a driver. In all of Europe, I've never encountered a driver being refused breakfast. This was the only place for a group where the breakfast was very poor and almost eaten by the group. When I plan my next trip, I definitely won't stay at this hotel.

Hotel Alpbach is a true gem! What makes it extra special is that it’s run by the owners themselves, who are very hands-on and genuinely attentive to their guests. The hotel has a charming, quaint feel that immediately makes you feel at home. We especially loved the food — every meal was delicious and clearly made with care. It's definitely one of the highlights of our stay and something we highly recommend to anyone visiting. I would love to come back here the next time I’m in Switzerland. Highly recommended!

We stayed here in July for 7 nights on a package which included dinner each night. We had a lovely time. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the owners are lovely hosts, and the food was great. On our deal there was no choice of food but it was all very good and not having to make any choices simplified things so much! It was 29C during the day when we were there with some hot nights, so the bedroom did get pretty warm at night. and the church bells do go through the night as well. Neither of those bothered us too much but they might be more important to some people. Meiringen was an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area - good transport links and less busy.

A lovely hotel. Very warm (too warm sometimes - had to turn off the radiator in the bedroom!). Staff were all welcoming and very friendly. Food was exceptional - it was extremely well presented and there was a great variety throughout the week (we had booked a package holiday whereby we didn't get to choose what we ate each night). My husband is coeliac and so must eat gluten free food, the hotel understood this and provided safe, interesting alternatives for him if he couldn't eat the same as the rest of us. This is quite unusual, especially in a country with little understanding of, or provision for, those people who need to eat gluten free for health reasons.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The rooms are a bit small by American standards, but typical of Europe. Very clean, nice beds. The staff was very, very accommodating. I wish they had a larger area to store your luggage if you arrive before check-in, but that isn't a big deal. Rooms do not have air conditioning, which was a bit of a problem during the hotter days, and the windows didn't have screens. The nearby church rings bells all around the clock, but to be honest it wasn't a problem. Our plan provided breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a buffet, plenty of food, plus they would cook eggs for you in the kitchen. Very satisfying. Dinner was a fixed menu, but they could accommodate food allergies if you informed them. Dinners were very filling and very well prepared, but in retrospect I would have rather not had dinner included so that we could try other restaurants nearby. And you don't have much of a choice, there is one fixed menu (on the plan). All food was excellent and very high end, but some choices weren't to our taste. Kangaroo for one meal, for example. The location is just a few blocks from the train station, and a few blocks from the ski lift (to hiking areas) and a kilometer or two from Reichenbach Falls and the Aare gorge

What a fabulous hotel, clean, amazing staff, so helpful. Position is just 5 minutes walk from the railway station (10 for me as I am on sticks). I admit the Church bells are loud if you have the window open but if you close it you cannot hear them. This did make the room hot but it was better than the bells. Group food was good quality, they seem to be highly regarded for food quality in the town. A great hotel, lots of positives, lovely lounge to sit in too.
